It has to be biodegradable, at least in part, biocompatible and small in the size. The biodegradable polymer used (Polycaprolactone, PCL) and the technique of printing gold (200-400 nm thick) on it have played a key role throughout the project. PCL was used both as substrate, on which all connections for discrete surface mount devices were printed, and for fabricating the pressure sensitive devices. A possible implementation for gastroenterology is presented. The final implementation fully satisfies the design specifications of biodegradability and biocompatibility, high operating frequency, high frequency sensitivity to changes in capacitance and size minimization.","PeriodicalId":133747,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems (ICECS)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129425911","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work presents a model-based analysis of worst-case DVS break-even time, and introduces an application-agnostic metric for rapid side-by-side comparison of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products being considered for DVS applications. This metric is intended to reduce time spent profiling multiple devices by enabling more informed processing platform selection earlier in the design cycle. To validate this modeling effort, a COTS platform is selected, prototyped, and evaluated for actual versus predicted break-even time.","PeriodicalId":133747,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems (ICECS)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129853280","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Instead, a fully-differential folded voltage-combiner block is used in replacement of the traditional tail current-source that is normally employed to bias the differential-pair. Simulation results of the properly optimized circuit, using AIDA-C, a state-of-the-art multi-objective multi-constraint circuit-level optimization tool, demonstrate that a DC gain above 50 dB can be achieved, together with high energy efficiency. A simulated figure-of-merit above 2200 MHz×pF/mA has been reached. The circuit was designed using a 130 nm CMOS technology, draining approximately 0.2 mA from a 1.2 V power supply.","PeriodicalId":133747,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems (ICECS)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121197947","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper discusses a novel design for the CMOS realization of a rail-to-rail fully differential CCII (FDCCII). The FDCCII is eventually obtained by suitably combining two instances of a four-terminal block, which in practice implements a differential voltage CCIL The simulations show that the proposed design effectively addresses the major issues that affect state-of-the-art implementations of FDCCII: limitations in the dynamic range and unsatisfactory linearity of the input-output relationship.","PeriodicalId":133747,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems (ICECS)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114772977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To limit both current consumption and RX-band noise a complete class A/B approach (from the DAC to the up-converter) is followed. The circuit is made up of three portions: a baseband that includes class B DAC and a second order low-pass filter (an active first order and a passive first order) combined with a class A/B up-converter. For LTE10 the current consumption (from a 1.8V regulated supply) is 47.5mW at 0dBm and 27.37mW at -6dBm output power respectively. The complete transmitter gives -160.5dBc/Hz RX-band noise injection at 30MHz offset (band 5 for LTE 10).","PeriodicalId":133747,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems (ICECS)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114802666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The model uses no fitting parameters and a frequency term applicable to both multipliers using diodes and metal-oxide semiconductor field effect transistors (MOSFETs). Analysis enables circuit designers to estimate circuit parameters, such as the number of stages and capacitance per stages, and device parameters such as saturation current (in the case of diodes) or transconductance (in the case of MOSFETs). Comparisons of the proposed model with SPICE simulation results as well as other models are also provided for validation.","PeriodicalId":133747,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems (ICECS)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121963021","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A tapered gate-connection network was optimized which results in a reduction of the gate resistance and allows to achieve a maximum gain of 11.6 dB with a 3-dB bandwidth of 24 GHz from the three-stage amplifier. The measured saturated output power is 4.1 dBm and the measured 1-dB compression power is 1.5 dBm. The matching networks are implemented using on-chip transformers and slow-wave transmission lines. Differential and common-mode stability is obtained by adding cross-coupled capacitance to the differential pairs and series resistance to the bias network respectively. The amplifier core occupies an area of 0.063 mm2 due to the compact design and the use of slow-wave transmission lines. With a supply voltage of 1.0 V, the amplifier consumes a DC current of 42 mA.","PeriodicalId":133747,"journal":{"name":"2014 21st IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems (ICECS)","volume":"52 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131681021","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
