In some applications, BJTs are used and their power loss calculation has a crucial effect on the temperature performance of transistors which must be in thermal limits. The power loss can be analyzed in three states; on, off and transition. In recent studies, on state loss has been calculated by estimation. In addition to that, in higher voltage applications, it is difficult to measure collector-emitter voltages (VCE) to calculate on and transient state losses correctly due to tolerances of voltage probes. An accurate power loss calculation method of BJT devices has been presented in this research in which the losses are evaluated by measuring only the base (IB) and the collector currents (Ic) without any estimation. The method does not require collector-emitter voltage measurements. The proposed method has been experimented on a current fed push-pull resonant inverter.","PeriodicalId":132198,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Conference on Electronics Design, Systems and Applications (ICEDSA)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117034680","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, the analysis is concentrated on the high frequency sub-band contents of WPT obtained from the d-q components of the differential currents of the relay. It has been found that the analysis in this approach provides information to detect any fault in the synchronous generator. This hybrid technique provides good accuracy and fast fault clearance with only one level of WPT of the d-q axis components of the current. In this scheme, a common gate front end MOS device in triode mode is used to reject in-band and out-band interferences. Furthermore, advantage of weak inversion mode of MOS device is used. While this stage has no DC power consumption, it is possible to easily reject in band and out band interferences with 12.5 and 9.2 dB, respectively. In order to increase power gain of the circuit two stages are added as an amplifier to the circuit. Also, in order to improve the noise figure (NF) and bandwidth of the circuit, the advantages of thermal noise cancellation technique in the second stage and the series-peaking method in the output buffer are used. The circuit is design in 0.18 μm technology. Simulation results show peak gain of 17.6 dB in the low band (3.1-4.75 GHz) and 15.6 dB in the high band (6.1-10.6 GHz). Minimum NF in mentioned frequency band is 3 and 2.3 dB, respectively. Hence, this circuit rejects in band and out band interferences 15.6 and 11.5 dB, respectively, while UWB LNA consumes 16 mW DC power from 1.8 V. The s11 is less than -9.6 dB over entire bandwidth since worst value of IIP3 over entire bandwidth is -14 dBm which occurs at 10.6 GHz.","PeriodicalId":132198,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Conference on Electronics Design, Systems and Applications (ICEDSA)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127938829","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the L TE-A can offer high speed data service as a benefit of wideband application, the large bandwidth also results in huge control signaling cost. Additionally the L TE bands may not be large enough in many countries to enable contiguous spectrum use. It is for this reason that non-contiguous LTE carrier aggregation work is on-going. LTE-Advanced carrier aggregation using non-contiguous spectrum, while possible is challenging in terms of its implementation. This paper presents a novel design of non-contiguous component carriers (CCs) in order to reach 120 MHz to have range of CC up to 100 MHz instead of maximum 80 MHz in the normal LTE-Advanced. The system is designed and implemented in two main cases; the first when it has four CCs broadcasted on the 100 MHz and the second case when the system has five CCs broadcasted on the 120 MHz. These two cases are analyzed to show the main performance of LTE-A after increasing the bandwidth of non-contiguous CCs.","PeriodicalId":132198,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE International Conference on Electronics Design, Systems and Applications (ICEDSA)","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122357488","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
