With the development of national smart power grids and the maintenance system based on reliability, on-line monitoring of the internal pressure in the vacuum interrupters becomes necessary and urgent. With the increasing of voltage level in VCBs, requirements of, internal pressure on-line diagnosis devices were highly recommended by Smart Grid, especially for the 35kV, 72.5kV and above voltage level. At present, the popular domestic on-line monitoring methods are achieved by detecting the potential of vacuum interrupter shield (Uc), the solving analysis of Uc makes significance meaning to the on-line monitor theory of the internal pressure. The relationship of the internal pressure(P) and sr was studied, the expression of P and 8r was concluded on dry air condition, and emulation mode conditions was provided for studying the relationships of internal pressure(P) and potential of vacuum interrupter shield(Uc). The numerical calculation of 3D electric field is an important way to analyze reasonable and optimization of its structure. The 3D model of the vacuum interrupter and SF6 interrupter are established; the internal electric field distribution of vacuum interrupter and SF6 interrupter are calculated by Ansoft software, and their self-capacitances are solved. Then a 3D computational model of HCB based on models of vacuum interrupter and SF6 interrupter is established, and the distribution characteristics of its electric field are analyzed. The simulation result of electric field distribution of HCB is obtained, and the structure of HCB is optimized designed. The objective of this paper is to study breakdowns in copper vapor at a density of interruption limit employing Particle in Cell-Monte Carlo Collision (PIC-MCC) method. A model with one dimension in physical space and three dimensions in velocity space was developed with a gap length of 10 mm between the contacts. The model took into account ionization, excitation, elastic collision and secondary emission. We obtained the boundary of instantaneous breakdown region of a VCB through the simulation. The results show that a higher neutral metal vapor density can accelerate the electron avalanche process but the influence was limited when the density exceeded a certain level. In order to guarantee the vacuum integrity, an accurate and reproducible gas pressure measurement is mandatory. This is performed in production on each vacuum interrupter and switch as a routine test. This is a part of the quality processes and tests applied to those devices during the production that ensure the excellent quality and guarantee more than 30 years shelf life. The pressure measurement technique is based on the magnetron effect. The basic phenomenon is an electron trap in crossed electric and magnetic field. The electrons are trapped radially by the magnetic field and axially by the electrostatic field. In the frame of this work, we have investigated with different approaches the electron trap. It was performed with analytic approach, 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional simulations. Using those results, we have tested different designs of switches in order to compare the low pressure discharge signals. Especially there is no such data available for high voltage vacuum interrupters with contact gaps reaching 30mm. The objective of this paper is to experimentally investigate the influence of three kinds of switching operations on the standard lightning impulse voltage breakdown characteristics of high voltage vacuum interrupters with a contact gap 30mm. The three kinds of switching operations are “closing without current / breaking without current”, “closing without current / breaking with 5kA current” and “closing without current / breaking dc current”. Therefore we designed six high-voltage vacuum interrupters with butt type contacts. The experimental results revealed that the conditioning process became slowly and the breakdown voltage followed the Weibull distribution after the three kinds of operations. And the operation “closing without current / breaking 5kA current” will increase the 50% breakdown voltage U50 of the vacuum interrupter from 340kV to 394kV. The U50 of the vacuum interrupter after the operation “closing without current / breaking without current” will increase from 340kV to 362kV. The operation “closing without current / breaking dc current” will increase the dielectric strength. As the current is increasing. The U50 increased from 385kV to 395kV with the breaking current 450A dc 500ms. Consequently, further applications may be established for vacuum switchgear technology. For each new application, the characteristics of vacuum interrupters have to be observed. One of these is current chopping that results in high overvoltages when switching off inductive loads. It is well known from literature that this behavior is strongly dependent on the contact material of the interrupter contacts. For example, copper-chromium has been established for the most circuit breaker applications in medium and high voltage levels. To compare the different materials and their properties, a test circuit is necessary which helps to measure the chopping current strictly according to the test circuit parameters. In this research project, it was possible to show that the measured chopping currents are influenced by inductivities and capacities both in the load and in the supply circuit. This result is of high importance for the interpretation of phenomena in practical applications. The method which based on wavelet threshold denoising and mathematical morphology alternate mixing filter is put forward in this paper. First, the PD signal which includes noise is wavelet decomposed with the proper wavelet function and scale, and each layer of wavelet coefficients is extracted. Then appropriate flat structure element is chosen aimed at the scales of wavelet coefficients, and the mathematical morphology alternate mixing filter is used to filter out the noise and get a new wavelet coefficients. Choosing the appropriate threshold rules for the new wavelet coefficients, the wavelet coefficients after the threshold treatment is wavelet reconstructed and the PD signal after denoising is got. The wave distortion mean square error eMSE and SNR are chosen as the indicators to analyze and compare the denoising effects of wavelet threshold denoising method and the fusion denoising method.
