The system spawns and controls mobile agents that move to remote sites, extract necessary information remotely, and send back the extracted information to a host. This way of information extraction can minimize the transmission overhead on networks as well as the processing overhead of the center host. Moreover, the mobile agent can be configured to better adapt to its remote site characteristics.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. The method of the MPPT control algorithm can be classified into two categories: perturb and observe (P&O) and incremental conductance (IncCond). In comparing the P&O and IncCond algorithms, the dynamic and tracking characteristic of the IncCond algorithm is better than P&O algorithm under rapidly changing solar radiation. But in the case of digital implementation, the InCond algorithm has an error on the decision of maximum power operation point (MPOP). To solve this problem, this paper proposes a improved IncCond algorithm, which can determine the MPOP under rapidly changing solar radiation by inserting a test signal in the control input. By simulation and experimentation, the validity of the proposed control algorithm is proved.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. However, for high compression it produces noticeable blocking artifacts in the decoded image. This paper presents new algorithms for reducing blocking artifacts. The algorithms use piecewise self-similarity within different parts of the image as a priori to give reasonable modification to the block boundary pixels. The proposed postprocessing algorithm includes block classification in transform coefficient domain, and each block boundary area smoothing is performed by searching similar blocks. In experiments it outperforms an existing method and gives significant subjective and objective improvement over the decoded image.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. In mobile communication systems, fading distortion affects the overall performance. Furthermore, the higher the velocity of any mobile system, the more severe the effect of fading is. To solve this problem, in an OFDM system, exact channel estimation can be an important method. We propose a channel estimation method which outperforms conventional methods. The saturation of the control inputs causes a windup phenomenon that the system stability and position tracking performance of the telemanipulator are deteriorated. This paper proposes a teleoperation position control scheme for 2-DOF manipulators with control input saturation, which compensates for saturation. The proposed scheme has an anti-windup feature as well as a force reflecting feature caused by the saturations. The proposed scheme improves the spatial position coincidence between the handgrip of master manipulator and the end-effector of the telemanipulator, and provides a precise position control of the telemanipulator. Experimental results show excellence of the proposed scheme.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. Some workers tend to gradually avoid the polishing work because of the poor working conditions caused by dust and noise. In order to reduce the polishing time and cope with the shortage of skilled workers, this study developed an automatic polishing system. The developed polishing system with five degrees of freedom is able to keep the polishing tool normal to the die surface during the polishing process. The developed polishing system is able to reduce the steps in the polishing process and improve the surface roughness and waviness. However, the problem remains that a worker must stay to monitor the polishing process in the poor working conditions for a long time. Thus, this study constructed a communication network and developed monitoring programs (a servo program and a client program) to operate the polishing robot system from remote sites. The monitoring programs consist of 5 modules: the polishing module, the graphic simulator module, the polishing data generation module, the vision module, and the teaching module through the network. In order to evaluate the performance of the polishing system and the stability of the monitoring programs, the polishing experiment of the saddle-shape die was performed. The experimental results showed that the developed system provided a reliable performance and a stable communication.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. In order to control the position and orientation of a robot with respect to an object, a new technique is proposed using a binocular stereo vision. The stereo vision enables one to calculate an exact image Jacobian not only at around a desired location, but also at the other locations. The suggested technique can guide a robot manipulator to the desired location without giving such priori knowledge as the relative distance to the desired location or the model of an object, even if the initial positioning error is large. This paper describes a model of stereo vision and how to generate feedback commands. The performance of the proposed visual servoing system is illustrated by the simulation and experimental results and compared with the case of conventional method for an assembling robot.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat.
