So, it is necessary to rapidly respond when the impact event has occurred. This paper presents a realization of automatic diagnosis algorithm for LPMS (loose parts monitoring system) and application results to the impact test data at YGN 3. The developed algorithm is composed of three parts; prefiltering, impact location and mass estimation. The prefiltering is needed to reject low frequency background noises. To estimate the impact location, the starting points of impact are detected from the filtered signals and compared to produce the time differences, and then the triangulation is applied. To estimate the mass and energy of a loose part, we first compute the maximum amplitude and the initial half period. And a modified impact theory considering amplitude and energy attenuation effects is applied.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. It can detect symmetrically and equally active or fundamental reactive currents in each phase, based on decomposition of fundamental reactive component and harmonics of nonlinear load current under unbalanced power conditions. Nonlinear load is composed of a 2 hp three phase squirrel cage type induction motor and motor drives (invertor). To confirm the validity of the proposed algorithm, some experiments were accomplished in steady states under 15% unbalanced power condition. From the experimental results, active and fundamental reactive current components detected by the proposed theory, was balanced and equaled in each phase despite of unbalanced power source.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. Loopers are placed between finishing mill stands and control the mass flow of the two stands. Another important action of the looper is to control the strip tension which influences the width of the strip. So it is very important to control both the looper angle and the strip tension simultaneously but the looper angle and the strip tension strongly interact with each other. There are many control schemes such as conventional, noninteractive, LQ, LQG/LTR, H/sub /spl infin// and ILQ control in the looper control system. In this paper, we present the modeling for the looper of a hot strip finishing mill to control the tension of the strip and suggest the noninteractive (cross) and LQG/LTR control method.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. The bandwidth allocation scheme searches the feasible network parameters, including the repetition period and capacity vector, which satisfy ail of utilization, deadline, and protocol constraints. The constraints are calculated from the careful analysis of traffic characteristics of the given message stream set. On the dual network, by making the repetition interval of one network precede that of the other by half, we can reduce the worst case medium access time by half. Simulation results executed via SMPL show that reduced overhead enables the wireless LAN to schedule more stream sets than the network whose bandwidth is just doubled.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. Sensorless FOC consists of speed controller, current controller, position estimator and so on. There are many parameters that have an effect on the performance of the control system. Furthermore, some of these parameters may interact, so it is very difficult to optimize these parameters. In this paper, we introduce the implementation of sensorless FOC using a digital signal processor (DSP), and we propose an optimization method using the multiple responses optimization that is one of the tools of six sigma. This optimization includes factor decision, design of experiment, regression analysis, response surface design, optimization process, and capability analysis. With this optimization, acoustic noise and power consumption is much reduced and speed control performance increases. Experimental results are included.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat. Numerous studies have addressed the RTP temperature control problem and most research on this problem require exact knowledge of the system dynamics. Most approaches do not guarantee the desired performance in practical application when there exist some modeling errors between the model and the actual system or the system dynamics are time-varying. In this paper, a stable nonparametric adaptive control scheme is applied to RTP without an exact information on the dynamics. The system dynamics are assumed to be an affine nonlinear form, i.e., x/spl dot/=f(x)+g(x)u, and the unknown portion of the dynamics are estimated by PLAN. The controller architecture is based on adaptive feedback linearization. The performance of the proposed control approach is validated through experiments on the RTP system developed by Kornic Systems Corporation in Korea.","PeriodicalId":124749,"journal":{"name":"ISIE 2001. 2001 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics Proceedings (Cat.
