PI controller, Fuzzy logic controller and optimal regulator were used to control glucose level by infusing remote insulin. A basic proportional-integral controller was modified using trial & error method. To enhance the performance of insulin infusion inside the human body Fuzzy logic controller and optimal regulator were also utilized with proper customization. For fuzzy logic, membership functions and fuzzy rules were defined. Also for optimal regulator study, matrixes were built for input & output equations. Finally, the performances of three different controllers were compared.","PeriodicalId":123939,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Advances in Electrical Engineering (ICAEE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130806880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But most of the power generating systems engenders power in the form of AC. Consequently an efficient rectification system is strongly recommended to convert AC into DC. A close study of usual AC to DC conversion system arises a number of problems such as high THD, low power factor, low voltage regulation etc. This paper offers an analysis of rectification systems. In every system converters are fed through the rectifier and output has taken through a filter. Their subsequent effect on the voltage, power and THD waveforms have observed. In full-bridge rectifier, the amount of THD is so high. Here a conventional boost PFC converter is analyzed with a regular filter (LC) in which the power factor is not better and amount of THD is so high. So the boost converter is replaced by cuk converter and responses are analyzed for various regular filters in which amounts of THD were not in permissible limit. Finally in favor of a rectification system this paper presents an efficient rectification system amalgamated of cuk converter and EMI filter. In case of cuk converter with EMI filter, it is seen that the amount of THD is greatly low and power factor is better than the previous traditional boost converter. All the circuits are simulated in MATLAB Simulink environment and the desired outputs have obtained.","PeriodicalId":123939,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Advances in Electrical Engineering (ICAEE)","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131080660","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To avoid interference and improve spectrum saturation, Cognitive Radio (CR) concept was proposed. CR is the greatest mechanism for use spectrum efficiently. The main objective of CR is to use this limited spectrum resources without interfering the primary users (PUs). This paper explains the several spectrum sensing methods that used in CRso far and also deals benefit-drawback of each sensing method. We explained the cooperative spectrum sensing and it's all forms; and also the multi-dimensional spectrum sensing concept. Cooperative sensing shares its sensing data with others and utilizes the sensing outcomes of others. As a result the probabilities of miss detection and probabilities of false alarm decreased. Finally, we provided an overview of CR for opportunistic spectrum access and future research challenges regarding spectrum sensing issues.","PeriodicalId":123939,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Advances in Electrical Engineering (ICAEE)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134255662","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Energy from renewable sources can never be exhausted. They cause less emission and therefore stand out as a potentially viable source of clean and limitless energy. Residential Microgrid, which is a new concept, can operate as standalone or as a grid-connected system. Renewable energy sources, particularly the photovoltaics, are the major component of such systems. A single-phase inverter is the main control subsystem of a residential Microgrid. Elimination of generated harmonics from the inverter is an issue. In this paper, the development process of an LCL filter for a residential Microgrid inverter system is described that can filter out most of the harmonics generated from the switching circuit of the inverter.","PeriodicalId":123939,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Advances in Electrical Engineering (ICAEE)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114248805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to advance the lifestyle and modernize the traditional tri-wheeler, battery powered rickshaws were introduced and thus it gained enormous popularity. However, after a few months, the Bangladesh government decided to ban import and assembly of electric vehicles, as it consumed energy from the already overloaded grid. Aiming to modernize the traditional tri-wheeler and make efficient use of renewable energy, Control & Applications Research Centre (CARC), BRAC University has proposed a field tested solution with the use of PV panel, torque sensor pedal and solar battery charging station to make the whole system independent of national grid. The paper describes the design and implementation of the PV array and torque sensor into the system and findings from the field tests along with the implementation of the solar battery charging station. It was found that 73% energy is saved when both PV array and torque sensor were integrated into the system. The distance travelled by the rickshaw-van was around 2.8 times greater than normal battery operated rickshaws.","PeriodicalId":123939,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Advances in Electrical Engineering (ICAEE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130553921","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Studies show that there has been significant improvement in detecting photograph and 3D model spoofing. However, there is no such improvement in detecting video spoofing. Recent studies suggest that liveness monitoring using the facial features has potential to improve security, especially in biometric systems. In this paper, a liveness monitoring technique is introduced to assist facial recognition. In the proposed system, an eye blinking pattern is used through a real-time generic web-camera. An eye blinking password system using ultrasonic range sensing module is developed for liveness detection of the users. The system is tested by conducting experiments using 15 valid users and 100 different user appearances. According to the experimental results, the proposed system achieves 99% face recognition accuracy and 99% liveliness detection performance.","PeriodicalId":123939,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Advances in Electrical Engineering (ICAEE)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125953736","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
