Abstract

Energy crisis is becoming one of the major challenges in today's world due to increased energy demand and at the same time decreased energy resources. Energy from renewable sources can never be exhausted. They cause less emission and therefore stand out as a potentially viable source of clean and limitless energy. Residential Microgrid, which is a new concept, can operate as standalone or as a grid-connected system. Renewable energy sources, particularly the photovoltaics, are the major component of such systems. A single-phase inverter is the main control subsystem of a residential Microgrid. Elimination of generated harmonics from the inverter is an issue. In this paper, the development process of an LCL filter for a residential Microgrid inverter system is described that can filter out most of the harmonics generated from the switching circuit of the inverter.
