In traditional online communication of expressions, it is not certain that the sender remains in the same state of expression, when the state is actually received in the remote side. In addition, the expression received in the remote side is mimicked by special visual characters commonly known as emoticons. The approach presented in this paper addresses the issues of real-time detection, communication, and imitation of expressions in order to solve the existing shortcomings. In particular, a computationally efficient intensity threshold-based algorithm is adopted to detect facial expressions from video signals. Because of such a simplicity, the proposed system ensures fast detection of an expression, which is quite convenient for real-time communication. At the same time, the system copies the expression on the face of a humanoid robot at the receiving end. It is expected that this novel approach, which is referred to as Roboticon will play a key role to imitate facial expressions in real-time.","PeriodicalId":122930,"journal":{"name":"2016 9th International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (ICECE)","volume":"75 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122863925","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Parameters such as, channel length, gate oxide thickness, gate dielectric constant, spacer doping, spacer dielectric constant and pitch, are optimized. For high frequency operation of op amp, optimum values of CNFET parameters are found to be 10 nm channel length, 10 dielectric constant of gate oxide, 3 nm gate oxide thickness, 5 nm pitch, zero source/drain doping concentration, 4 dielectric constant of spacer oxide. Performance of CNFET op amp incorporating these optimum values is investigated and compared with previous work. Obtained results reveals significant differences among previously designed Si CMOS op amp, 32 nm CNFET and the sub-10-nm CNFET op amp investigated here.","PeriodicalId":122930,"journal":{"name":"2016 9th International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (ICECE)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122950769","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The core region of the proposed PCF is oriented with elliptical air holes in a hexagonal shape and the cladding is oriented in a spiral manner. The proposed PCF not only shows high sensitivity but also shows high birefringence as well. The geometrical parameters were altered to fix the optimized structure. By utilizing finite element method (FEM) the numerical analysis of the proposed PCF is performed. Our proposed PCF shows the high sensitivity of 42.27% and high birefringence of 1.94×10−2 at λ=1.33µm which is the absorption line of toxic gasses like (methane and hydrogen fluoride).","PeriodicalId":122930,"journal":{"name":"2016 9th International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (ICECE)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123322408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because of its overall interconnectivity it becomes very much necessary to protect the power system if there is any major failure. Otherwise, it will cause the whole system to collapse. Vulnerability analysis of the power system network indicates the major vulnerable nodes that should be given special protective measures for reliable power transmission and operation. Centrality approach is an effective way to determine the most sensitive edges and nodes of a power system network. This mathematical based criterion has been applied with proper algorithm for Bangladesh power system network to evaluate the most vulnerable parts of the network.","PeriodicalId":122930,"journal":{"name":"2016 9th International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (ICECE)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123325300","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our paper, monocular cue which gives useful information about single frame and depth from motion using optical flow estimated from consecutive video frames are used to produce final depth maps. The machine learning approach is promising and new research direction in the field of depth estimation and thus 2-D to 3-D conversion. A fast automatic technique is proposed which utilizes a fixed point learning framework for the accurate estimation of depth maps of test images. For this task, a contextual prediction function is generated using training database of 2-D color and ground truth depth images. The depth maps obtained from monocular and motion depth cues of input video frames are used as input features for learning process. The depths generated from fixed point model are more accurate and reliable than MRF fusion of these depth cues. The stereo pairs are generated using depth maps predicted from fixed point learning. These final stereo pairs are converted to 3-D output video which is displayed on 3-DTV. For subjective evaluation, MOS score is calculated by showing final 3-D video to different viewers using 3-D glasses.","PeriodicalId":122930,"journal":{"name":"2016 9th International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (ICECE)","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129118227","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to their quasi-one-dimensional structure, electron-electron and electron-hole interaction and corresponding self energy and exciton binding energy are important in SWCNTs and the difference between these two energies gives many body effect. Here, at first, a brief review of nature of correction in the conventional single particle electronic picture of SWCNTs to include many body effect in first four optical transitions is presented. Then, many body corrections needed for next three higher optical transitions i.e. 5th, 6th and 7th transitions of semiconducting SWCNTs are investigated. Experimental values of these higher transitions are collected from recent experimental reports so as to explain those data by extending single-particle picture corrected for nanotube curvature and chirality effect along with many body corrections. Our result shows that these three transitions excellently follow the proposed corrected picture with less than 0.5% average absolute error which proves that excitonic behaviour is strong in 5th, 6th and 7th optical transitions of semiconducting SWCNTs unlike 3rd and 4th transitions as reported in some recent works.","PeriodicalId":122930,"journal":{"name":"2016 9th International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (ICECE)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130133778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The cascaded H-bridge multilevel (CHBM) converters are considered as strong competitors for step-up transformer less direct grid integration. But due to the limited space of installation, high cost of failure and for reliable operation of converters, the power losses in semiconductor devices are required to be designed, analyzed and minimized. In this paper an improved precise loss calculation method is proposed and this method is utilised to calculate the power losses in a 28.6 MVA, 11KV, optimum level with reduced switching modes using bus-clamping pulse width modulation (BCPWM) for CHBM converter. All the analysis are performed in MATLAB environment with reduced harmonic distortion as well as switching losses.","PeriodicalId":122930,"journal":{"name":"2016 9th International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (ICECE)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116738758","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In case of 3D modality, the approach of region-based feature selection for face recognition is relatively new. In this context, this paper presents an approach to evaluate the discrimination power of different regions of a 3D facial surface for its potential use in face recognition systems. We propose the use of weighted average of unit normal vector on the facial surface as the feature for region-based face recognition from 3D point cloud data (PCD). The iterative closest point algorithm is employed for the registration of segmented regions of facial point clouds. A metric based on angular distance between normals is introduced to indicate the similarity between two surfaces of same facial region. Finally, the intra class correlation based discrimination score is formulated to find out the key facial regions such as the eyes, nose, and mouth that are significant while recognizing a person with facial surface PCD.","PeriodicalId":122930,"journal":{"name":"2016 9th International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (ICECE)","volume":"140 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122430252","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed FP filter consists of a multilayer cavity, which is constructed by alternately repeating two different sub-wavelength dielectric or semiconductor materials. Such a multilayer structure can behave as an anisotropic metamaterial. By varying the fill factor of the metamaerial, the effective refractive index of the cavity can be easily tuned. As the resonant wavelength of such a filter strongly depends on the cavity refractive index, the resonant wavelength of the filter can be easily tuned between a wide wavelength range of approximately 400nm by changing the fill factor. Distributed Bragg reflectors (DBRs) have been used as the high reflectivity mirrors. Both the DBRs and the cavity can be constructed by using only two materials, such as Silicon (Si) and SiO2. This device may find substantial applications in the fields of spectroscopy, color filtering, sensing etc.","PeriodicalId":122930,"journal":{"name":"2016 9th International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering (ICECE)","volume":"113 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126374422","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
