Recently researchers have turned to the more challenging field of emotional expressions through body posture or activity. Proposed work approaches recognition of basic emotional categories from body postures using neural model applied visual perception of neurophysiology. In keeping with information processing models of the visual cortex, this work constructs a biologically plausible hierarchy of neural detectors, which can discriminate 6 basic emotional states from static views of associated body postures of activity. The proposed model, which is tolerant to parameter variations, presents its possibility by evaluating against human test subjects on a set of body postures of activities.","PeriodicalId":122700,"journal":{"name":"The Kips Transactions:partb","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-10-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129503434","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Usually, they are scanned from comic books by digital scanners. Without post-processing, they may have different sizes, skews and margins other than contents at the boundary. To normalize the size of their contents without the skews and margins is an important step in comic image analysis and application such as content-based comic image retrieval system. In this paper, we propose a method to detect a box frame in comic images by extracting of line segments using the gradient Radon transform. The box frame in comic images is the maximum rectangle which consists of contents without margins. We use the detected box frame to normalize the size of comic images and to make them no skew. In addition, the proposed method is implemented by OpenCL to speed up the detection of the line segments. Experimental results show that our proposed method effectively detects the box frame in comic images.","PeriodicalId":122700,"journal":{"name":"The Kips Transactions:partb","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132919859","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To reduce cost of its use, we design the algorithm to use a single camera. To make the proposed system to be used more conveniently, we avoid from using optical markers. To make the proposed algorithm be convenient for real-time applications, we design it to have a closed-form with high accuracy. To design a closed-form algorithm, we propose an idea that formulates motion of a human body joint as a 2D universal joint model instead of a common 3D spherical joint model, without any kins of approximation. To make the closed-form algorithm has high accuracy, we formulates the estimation process to be an optimization problem. Thus-desined algorithm is applied to each joint of the human body one after another. Through experiments we show that human body motion capturing can be performed in an efficient and robust manner by using our algorithm.","PeriodicalId":122700,"journal":{"name":"The Kips Transactions:partb","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123906801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The feature is extracted from the morphological gradient image, which results in constructing robust detection system against shadows, weather conditions, head lights and illumination conditions without distinction day and night. The system shows excellent performance for the data captured at day time, night time, and rainy night time as much as 99.49% for positive recognition ratio and 0.51% for error ratio. One of the best algorithms is Google using PageRank technology. PageRank approach computes the number of inlink of each documents then ranks documents in the order of inlink members. But it is difficult to find the results that user needs, because this method find documents not valueable for a person but valueable for the public. To solve this problem, We use the WordNet for analysis of the user`s query history. This paper proposes a personalized search engine using the user`s query history and PageRank Check. In order to understand the meaning of a sentence, it is necessary to identify which sense isused for each word in the sentence. Previous researches on this problem heavily relied on the word co-occurrence information. However, we noticed that in case of verbs, information about subordinating cases of verbs can be utilized to further improve the performance of word sense disambiguation. Different senses require different sets of subordinating cases. In this paper, we propose the verb sense disambiguation using subordinating case information. The case information acquire postposition features in Standard Korean Dictionary. Our experiment on 12 high-frequency verb homographs shows that adding case information can improve the performance of word sense disambiguation by 1.34%, from 97.3% to 98.7%. The proposed algorithm integrates Dijkstra`s shortest path algorithm with the genetic algorithm. Dijkstra`s algorithm is used to define the predecessor array that facilitates the initialization process of the genetic algorithm. After that, the genetic algorithm re-searches the optimal path through appropriate genetic operators under dynamic traffic situations. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm produces routes with less traveling time and computational overhead than pure genetic algorithm-based approaches as well as the standard Dijkstra`s algorithm for large-scale networks.","PeriodicalId":122700,"journal":{"name":"The Kips Transactions:partb","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124649899","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
