Higher blood pressure and poor glycaemic control were reported to be the most common risk factors influencing the progress of diabetic nephropathy. This study was designed to determine the diagnostic and prognostic potential of the serum transformation growth factor β1 [TGF β1] in normoalbuminuric, microalbuminuric, macroalbuminuric and end-stage renal disease type 2 diabetic nephropathy patients. Materials and Methods: The transformation growth factor β1 was measured using ELISA test kits and serum creatinine was assessed by the modified Jaffe method while estimated glomerular filtration rate [EGFR] in the study was evaluated by the MDRD equation (adjusted for four variables). Results: The levels of serum transformation growth factor β1 and urine albumin/creatinine ratio were significantly increased (p < 0.05) across the diabetes nephropathy stages, while the estimated glomerular filtration rate was progressively decreased (p < 0.05). Serum creatinine was significantly increased (p < 0.05) with the progression of diabetic nephropathy. Conclusion: Transformation growth factor β1 might have the potentials to be used as a diagnostic and prognostic marker for diabetic nephropathy.","PeriodicalId":122395,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Science and Technology Research Archive","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130957301","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Both resulting in reactive power losses and resulting in an increase in electric current which will have an impact on higher conductor energy losses. It has been discussed a lot, but in reality it still happens a lot, it is necessary to save electrical energy in addition to saving costs but also preventing a power supply crisis by making monitoring tools and power factor improvements that can be controlled remotely based on IoT. This study aims to design and design an automatic power factor monitoring and improvement tool for industry in real time based on the internet of things starting from architecture, display monitors and hardware systems as well as conducting feasibility testing. The method used in this study is the ADDIE method (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) through a literature review and analysis approach. The results of this study are expected to provide appropriate design recommendations and have system and material advantages and to be implemented. Diseases like zika virus fever, West Nile fever, malaria, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, dengue, etc. are examples of mosquito-borne diseases. These diseases are majorly caused by three species of mosquitoes Anopheles, Aedes, and Culex. Most mosquito vector control methods depend upon outdoor spraying, impregnated nets, or indoor residual spraying of chemical insecticides and it was observed that many mosquito species evolved resistance to major pesticide classes. The disadvantages of using chemical pesticides are the development of resistance in mosquitoes and also the harm it causes to other non-target organisms, in addition to the higher cost, more labor, and other drawbacks. Using DEET is also not as preferable as it can induce muscle twitching, seizures, slurred speech, nausea, and rashes. DEET will not give long-term protection against all malaria-causing mosquito species, such as Anopheles. Whereas biocontrol agents used for mosquito control show no environmental pollution or resistance. Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis and Bacillus sphaericus biopesticides tend to remain longer in the environment, particularly in dirty water, and hence may be a viable choice for long-term mosquito control. They have the least adverse effect on living things like humans, domestic animals, and wildlife.","PeriodicalId":122395,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Science and Technology Research Archive","volume":"140 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133613360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is the case of Lake Nokoué in the Municipality of Sô-Ava, which for decades has become a receptacle for chemical pollutants such as pyrethroids. This observation prompted the present research which aims to determine the level of contamination of the waters and fishery resources of Lake Nokoué by pyrethroid molecules. The method used consisted of surveying the farmers working on the shores of Lake Nokoué, the different types of pesticides they use in the fight against pests on their crops. Then, the pyrethroid molecules (deltamethrin and cypermethrin) were looked for in water and fish samples taken, by the QuEChERS technique (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Efficient, Rugged an Safe) at the Laboratory of the 'International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (station) of Benin. At the end of the work, 13 types of pesticides were identified, of which only 26.31% are approved by the Sahelian Pesticides Committee (CSP). A wide range of unapproved pesticides representing 73.68% is also used in the study environment. Laboratory analyzes revealed the presence of the desired active ingredients at concentrations that greatly exceed the WHO standard in all water and fish samples. Non-repeat two-way proc ANOVA analysis of variance and the Student Newman Keuls test revealed that the concentrations of cypermethrin in the samples exceeded those of deltametrin.","PeriodicalId":122395,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Science and Technology Research Archive","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130278386","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The research was conducted on the effects of damping off fungus on seed germination of Amaranth (Amaranthus hybridus) collected from some Agricultural farmland in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State, North central Nigeria. The isolation of fungal species from Amaranthus hybridus seeds of the infected plants having symptoms of damping off disease using agar plate method and was identified using the morphological characteristics features from mycological atlas. Isolation from the infected seeds revealed that Rhizoctonia solani were associated with the plants. Seed weight (mg) and seed germination (%) were determined using the international rules for seed testing and the physiological seed quality indices were determined; these are germination index (GI), germination rate index (GRI) and seedling vigor index were arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) all in triplicates. The result indicated that seeds from uninfected plants recorded seed weight (8.97mg) as compared with the infected seeds (5.21mg), there was significantly higher germination (98.67%) observed in uninfected seeds compared with seeds of Amaranthus plants that were infected (32.13%) with damping off fungus. Germination index was observed to be higher in seeds of uninfected plants (9.34) and lower in seeds of infected plants (4.34). The significant effects observed of the fungus on both seed and seedlings are highly virulence on the infected plants. The research revealed that a very good association between Rhizoctonia solani causing damping off disease and seed germination failure of Amaranthus hybridus plants. In the cultivation of Amaranthus hybridus, seed weight, and physiological seed quality attributes should be considered for an effective damping off disease suppression.","PeriodicalId":122395,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Science and Technology Research Archive","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130130855","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Malnutrition has been a worldwide problem which is being tackled in various ways and is usually prevalent among children in developing economies. The purpose of the study was to examine the Socio- economic status and household practices influence on undernutrition among children under five years in the Effutu Municipality. Methodology: A community-based research was conducted to assess the nutritional status of children under five years in Effutu municipality for a total of 350 children. A simple random sampling was used to select the communities for the study. Modified random walk was use to select the households from housing units. With the use of a pre-tested and structured questionnaire, data on children and care givers was collected. WHO Anthro software version 3.2.1 was used in determining the z-scores and SPSS software version 20 was used to perform univariate, and bivariate logistic regression analysis. A p<0.05 was deemed statistically significant. Results: Out of the 350 children under five, the most prevalent undernutrition case was stunting (59%). Stunting was most prevalent among children in the age group of 12-23 months (35.5%). Number of times child feeds daily is the only house hold practice that is associated with stunting at 95% significant level. Children whose parents were unemployed were almost twice likely to be stunted than those who were self-employed (OR=1.902 95% CI, 114 - 3.246). Children with parents who earn less than Ghc100 were about 10 times more likely to be stunted than those who earn more than Ghc1000 (OR=10.179; 95% CI, 2.198 - 47.145). Conclusion: The study showed that of the economic factors, mother’s occupation and household income was significantly associated with their child being stunted. The number of times a child feeds in a day was significantly associated with their child being stunted.","PeriodicalId":122395,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Science and Technology Research Archive","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131972703","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
