The users of the purchasing management verified that the goals of a re-engineering model are to create a process-oriented approach in order to reduce purchasing process cycle time, faster customer response time and lower cost. The conceptual model of the business process was developed by integrated definition for function modeling (IDEFO). The process times were collected by standard time study and analyzed by statistical analysis and the computer simulation model of the process was developed by Visual SLAM. The current system was then compared with three business process re-engineering (BPR) models through PCA. The first BPR utilizes Davenport approach as process designing and using organizational, human resource and IT enablers. The second and third alternatives use electronic data interchange (EDI) technology and deletion of expense accounts in the current purchasing system. The approach of this study may be used for re-engineering design and assessment of other Purchasing management systems.","PeriodicalId":120426,"journal":{"name":"2006 4th IEEE International Conference on Industrial Informatics","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117041858","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These companies, by virtue of their diverse operations, comprise of complicated organizational structure. The nature of organizational set-up with several operational units, often results with communication barriers among operational units. In order to effectively and efficiently perform oil and gas company's business activities, the flow of data and information must be consistent and sharing among its units. In order to improve information sharing among oil and gas company's personnel, heterogeneous data from various sources are integrated. Data warehouse is a solution, in which, oil and gas data entities, identified as class objects, are used for multidimensional modeling. Relational data structures constructed using these class objects, are stored in a warehousing environment to minimize the complexity of heterogeneous data and enhances power of data integration and information sharing among different operational units.","PeriodicalId":120426,"journal":{"name":"2006 4th IEEE International Conference on Industrial Informatics","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123461338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In addition, device-related documentation like descriptions, instructions, pictures and multimedia documents exist. Thus, the device is a central part of a complex information set, usable by software tools throughout a device's life cycle, from configuration towards diagnosis, repair, and asset management. In heterogeneous networks containing devices from different vendors, the variety of the above-mentioned information requires a flexible, adaptable and extensible organizational structure for the information set. This paper investigates a method and a calculation model for spatial-temporal alignment of the collected multi-sensory data, which can be used to establish precise correspondence between the actual space location on the strip steel and the associated parameter values. Based on the relations between each strip steel parameter and the associated position along the strip steel length direction, the corresponding relations between strip steel quality data and strip steel position was established, and the formula of calculation was given. At the same time, the paper analyzes the error source of strip steel length calculation and presents the revision algorithm model of strip steel length. Field test results indicate that the strip steel location error is smaller than 0.5 meter and the method provides a general reference for similar industrial production lines.","PeriodicalId":120426,"journal":{"name":"2006 4th IEEE International Conference on Industrial Informatics","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123670171","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, multi-criteria designs will become indispensable for the next generation of multipath routing algorithms and protocols. This paper shows a theoretical approach to multipath routing problems as a multi- objective optimization of network flows. Two objectives, total link utilization and bandwidth fairness for connections, are introduced into an objective formulation which is solved with a nonlinear programming solver. The numerical analysis shows that drastic fairness improvement can be achieved with small decline of utilization. Compared to standard multipath routing, this approach of bandwidth fair multipath routing can achieve a variance of bit-rate for all connections of 0.0123% with a decline of utilization of 11.4%. In case of single path, a variance of 0.0168% with decline of utilization of 39.7% can be achieved. Finally, the controllability of multipath routing is discussed.","PeriodicalId":120426,"journal":{"name":"2006 4th IEEE International Conference on Industrial Informatics","volume":"76 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122040795","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Implementation of the standard requires an execution environment that is deterministic, provides real-time reactivity, and is compact to fit embedded platforms. In particular, this paper discusses the problem of function block scheduling that would be the core of such execution environment. The function blocks are modeling by net condition/event systems (NCES). It is shown that the NCES implementation provides a natural scheduling policy for function blocks that preserves concurrency and enables evaluation of the reactivity by model- checking.","PeriodicalId":120426,"journal":{"name":"2006 4th IEEE International Conference on Industrial Informatics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130030038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
