More importantly, CeO<sub>2</sub> can dynamically regulate catalyst surface reconstruction and electronic structure while significantly enhancing catalytic activity and long-term stability. In this review, we first focus on CeO<sub>2</sub>-based electrocatalysts for OER from structural characteristics, design principles and strategies, structure-property relationships, interfacial structure, as well as critical evaluation of design strategies and selection principles. The mechanistic roles of CeO<sub>2</sub> in OER are highlighted, including redox chemistry and oxygen-vacancy (O<sub>v</sub>) dynamics, electronic-structure modulation and charge transfer, interfacial coupling and surface reconstruction, as well as operando evidence and the controversy over lattice-oxygen participation. The performance of CeO<sub>2</sub>-based OER electrocatalysts in different electrolytes, including alkaline, acidic, and seawater media, is also summarized to demonstrate their applicability under diverse operating conditions. Finally, from the perspectives of electronic-structure evolution, redox-state transitions, lattice evolution, and catalytic pathways, this review summarizes the underlying mechanisms by which CeO<sub>2</sub> regulates the dynamic catalytic behavior of OER and provides an outlook on future design strategies for developing highly efficient and durable CeO<sub>2</sub>-based electrocatalysts.</p>","PeriodicalId":117,"journal":{"name":"Advanced Science","volume":" ","pages":"e78316"},"PeriodicalIF":14.1,"publicationDate":"2026-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC13677004/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"149214864","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"材料科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To address this, we developed a chiral virus-mimicking mesoporous silica nanostructure (CVSN) functionalized with L-alanine for antibiotic delivery. It offers several distinct advantages: (1) nanoscale dimensions facilitating BBB transport; (2) virus-like morphology enhancing vascular accumulation and penetration, providing a foundation for passive targeting; (3) chiral surface modification conferring active recognition capacity for more efficient biological targeting; and (4) a mesoporous architecture that ensures high drug-loading efficiency and controlled release of drugs. Experimentally, it achieves efficient BBB penetration into the brain parenchyma and shows targeted delivery into microglia and astrocytes. Simulating the loading of cargoes by viruses, it ultimately improves the bioavailability and brain parenchyma and cerebrospinal fluid contents of various antibiotics with distinct physicochemical properties, antibacterial spectrum, and BBB penetration capacity, including cefoperazone, norfloxacin, levofloxacin and imipenem. In atomic force microscopy (AFM), high-throughput imaging requires higher scan speeds, however, image quality is fundamentally limited by multiple distortions. These artifacts are further amplified for sharp nano/microstructures, making accurate image restoration inherently challenging. Most deep learning-based approaches rely on a single primary channel and improve performance by increasing model complexity or training data. Here, we introduce a physics-guided multi-channel input approach for AFM that utilizes co-acquired auxiliary signals to improve image restoration efficiency and accuracy. We construct a four co-acquired channel input, each containing complementary physical information. By integrating these channels into a lightweight convolutional neural network, the proposed approach significantly improves restoration quality with minimal additional parameters. At a scan rate of 7.0 Hz, the four-channel DnCNN achieved higher reconstruction accuracy than a single-channel Restormer with approximately 47 times as many parameters, while providing approximately 24 times faster inference. Across the evaluated EFM and PFM conditions, four-channel inputs reduced the training-patch requirement by approximately two to three times at matched PSNR.</p>","PeriodicalId":117,"journal":{"name":"Advanced Science","volume":" ","pages":"e78289"},"PeriodicalIF":14.1,"publicationDate":"2026-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC13677073/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"149219647","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"材料科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, this conventional wisdom has been challenged by a lingering mystery-certain congruent melting alloys exhibit higher glass-forming ability (GFA) than their eutectic neighbors. Here, we unravel this anomaly by probing the structure of high-temperature melt-the direct precursor to a glass. Using Ti-Cu as a model system, we conduct a comparative study on a eutectic Ti<sub>27</sub>Cu<sub>73</sub> and its congruent melting counterpart Ti<sub>50</sub>Cu<sub>50</sub>. By combining aerodynamic levitation, in situ synchrotron x‑ray diffraction, and an energy minimization-enhanced reverse Monte Carlo method, we resolve the atomic structures of these alloys in both the melt and glassy states. We reveal that the congruent melt is structurally more complex than the eutectic, exhibiting higher cluster diversity and stronger inter‑cluster correlations owing to the entropy-enthalpy competition. This structural complexity is then inherited and amplified during the glass transition via cluster transformations, serving as dual kinetic and energetic barriers to crystallization that lead to the anomalously higher GFA. Our work establishes melt structural complexity as a new framework for understanding the glass transition at the atomic cluster level, with important implications for designing superior glasses from high-entropy intermetallic alloys.</p>","PeriodicalId":117,"journal":{"name":"Advanced Science","volume":" ","pages":"e78359"},"PeriodicalIF":14.1,"publicationDate":"2026-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC13677046/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"149219686","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":1,"RegionCategory":"材料科学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Here, we identify Chromobox 2 (CBX2), a Polycomb-associated chromatin regulator, as a previously unrecognized regulator of hepatic lipid homeostasis. CBX2 expression is markedly reduced in hepatocytes from patients with MASLD, multiple mouse models (db/db, ob/ob, HFD, and HFHC), and steatotic hepatocytes in vitro. Hepatocyte-specific CBX2 overexpression ameliorates hepatic steatosis, improves glucose metabolism, and suppresses inflammation, whereas CBX2 deficiency exacerbates these metabolic disturbances. Mechanistically, CBX2 enhances H3K4me3 enrichment at the Orai1 promoter, promoting Orai1 transcription and increasing intracellular Ca2+ levels. Elevated Ca2+ activates the CaMKK2-AMPK signaling pathway, leading to ACC phosphorylation, inhibition of de novo lipogenesis (FAS, ACC, and SCD-1), enhancement of fatty acid oxidation (PPARα and CPT-1a), and suppression of NF-κB/JNK-mediated inflammation. Genetic and pharmacological interventions further establish the necessity of this Ca2+-CaMKK2-AMPK axis for CBX2-mediated metabolic protection. Missense mutations in Polybromo 1 (Pbrm1), a core component of the SWI/SNF (switch/sucrose non-fermentable) chromatin remodeling complex, have been identified as a risk factor for ASD; however, whether PBRM1 loss of function contributes to the pathogenesis remains elusive. Here we provide direct evidence that microglial PBRM1 deficiency leads to altered microglial clusters, excessive neurogenesis, and ASD-like behaviors in mice. Integrated molecular analyses reveal that PBRM1 directly binds to the Ccl5 promoter and represses the expression of CCL5. Elevated CCL5 promotes the proliferation and neuronal differentiation of neural stem/progenitor cells (NSPCs) via the CCR1/5-β-catenin signaling pathway. Importantly, pharmacological blockade of CCR1/5 ameliorates behavioral deficits in Pbrm1 cKO mice. Here, we address this challenge by developing a method to produce continuous-tone photolithography masks/reticles through the pyrolysis of 2.5D photoresist structures fabricated using standard multiphoton lithography systems. During pyrolysis, the pattern densifies from micrometers in thickness in the resist state to nanometers in thickness in the carbon state. While the pyrolyzed patterns undergo significant vertical shrinkage, adhesion to the substrate is maintained, preserving overall lateral pattern fidelity despite a systematic in-plane expansion.
