The Student’s t statistical operation is used to find the representation of IRI from the Roughometer results as substitute of IRI from the Hawkeye results. It is determined by analyzing the comparison of the mean values of both measurement results. The study was conducted on three national road sections in North Sumatra Province, namely: Bts. Kota Binjai – Bts. Kota Medan road with a length of 7,300 meters, Bts. Kota Tebing Tinggi – Bts. Kabupaten Simalungun road with a length of 18,800 meters, and Bts. Kabupaten Simalungun/Bts. Kabupaten Sergai road with a length of 15,000 meters. The IRI values were measured by using Roughometer and Hawkeye devices. The measurements were carried out with the survey team from the Center for Implementation of the National Road II Medan, which was also the facilitators in providing the survey equipment, Roughometer and Hawkeye. The statistical test results that the IRI values from the Roughometer measurement results were significantly different from the IRI values from the Hawkeye measurement results (Ho was rejected) because the Student’s t-test results for the three road sections showed that tcount > tcritical and p-value < 0.05. And the assessment of the road functional conditions using Roughometer showed the same results on one road section but worse results on the other two road sections compared to assessment of the functional conditions with Hawkeye. Based on the analysis results, it can be concluded that the IRI values from Roughometer were more conservative in representing the functional conditions of the road when used as a substitute for the IRI values from Hawkeye.","PeriodicalId":117730,"journal":{"name":"Simetrikal: Journal of Engineering and Technology","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126674849","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The earthquake resistant steel frame structure is designed to be able to withstand large inelastic deformations in the case of an earthquake. The applicable regulations still allow the use of elastic design methods in the form of pushover analysis and time history analysis evaluation as the basis for the design. The building under consideration consists of six floors with the function as an office building. The location of the building is in Banda Aceh with soft soil conditions. The structural analysis used the help of the Extended Three Dimensional Analysis of Building System Program (ETABS). The method of analysis of steel portal structures used was pushover analysis. Analysis of the given load was static loading based on 1987 PPPURG, and earthquake dynamic loading used a variety of response spectrum procedure analysis based on SNI 03-1726-2012. Structural analysis was assumed to be the strong column weak beam concept. From the results of calculations, it is found that the steel portal structures (with and without braces) designed based on allowable interstory drift limits have met the requirements. The performance level of the steel portal structure without bracing was LS, while the performance level of the steel portal structure using bracing was IO. The largest amount of steel used in terms of weight was found in the case of a portal without braces.","PeriodicalId":117730,"journal":{"name":"Simetrikal: Journal of Engineering and Technology","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121519633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The base isolation system is a simple design approach for earthquake-resistant buildings to protect the structures and components from the risk of earthquake damages by using the concept of reducing earthquake forces. This research aims to analyze the performance of a general hospital building in Labura Regency area in order to know the safety of the building in terms of period, frequency, base shear force, displacement and earthquake force, used the base isolators and without the base isolators. The method used is response-spectrum dynamic analysis by ETABS v2016 program. From the calculation of structural analysis, the application of base isolation is able to build up the period of the structure, therefore, the maximum acceleration of earthquakes can be reduced at certain period. There is an average increase by 48.21% of the structural period compared to non-isolated base structure, and the frequency that occurs in structures using base isolators is smaller than without base isolators. The friction force obtained is smaller compared to the structures without dampers. Base-isolated building structures observed have bigger displacement than non-base isolated structures. The average rise of the building displacement is 27.14% at x and 2.74% at y directions. In base-isolated structures, earthquake forces are reduced averagely by 57.51% at x and 82.73% at y directions. The analysis of structural performance, General Hospital in Labura Regency is categorized to Immediate Occupancy (IO) in which the building structures are safe with no significant risk of fatalities due to structural failures, there are no any significant damages and the building can be used and functioned/operated again immediately.","PeriodicalId":117730,"journal":{"name":"Simetrikal: Journal of Engineering and Technology","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129232563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All the rubbers were filled by silica filler at a fixed loading (30.0 parts per hundred rubber, phr) and the TESPT was added to each silica-filled rubbers compounds at 1.0phr. It was found that TESPT affected the torque properties of all the silica-filled rubbers compounds. The TESPT decreased the minimum torque of NR system but increased the minimum torque of ENRs systems and maximum and torque differences of the all rubbers systems. The minimum torque was decreased from 0.61 to 0.53 dN.m for NR; were increased from 0.23 to 0.49 dN.m for ENR 25 and from 0.07 to 0.34 dN.m for ENR 50.It was also found that the TESPT acted as an internal plasticizer for NR which improved the degree of silica dispersion. Presumably, for the ENRs, the TESPT acted as an additional cross linker with a more pronouncedly which poorer the degree of silica dispersion.","PeriodicalId":117730,"journal":{"name":"Simetrikal: Journal of Engineering and Technology","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133770956","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One form of damage to non-structural components and structures is the relationship between columns and brick walls, where cracks and separation between columns and walls occur due to no anchor. So the design of buildings in the future is safe from the dangers of earthquakes. For earthquakes that are not too large, the building is likely to remain standing with little damage. However, to anticipate a strong earthquake and reduce the adverse effects, the building of a walled wall must be built according to the provisions of earthquake-resistant building construction by providing reinforcement in certain parts such as mounting anchors from column to wall. To find out how much influence from the installation of the anchor from the column to the brick wall, an experimental study was carried out on the walls completed with a foundation, sloof, column and beam. There were 2 specimens, namely specimen that uses the anchor and do not use anchor, so it is expected to know the behavior of mounting anchors. From the test results obtained that a pushover load of 7540 kg and a displacement of 56.5 mm for specimens using anchor while for specimens that did not use anchor had pushover 5666 kg and a displacement of 48 mm. The conclusion is the installation of anchors between column and brick wall can increase","PeriodicalId":117730,"journal":{"name":"Simetrikal: Journal of Engineering and Technology","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121830965","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A problem in the process of generating electrical energy is how to maximize the available water resources for optimal power generation. In this study, we will discuss the relationship of water availability with power generation performance at PLTA PT Inalum by using Water Balance method. Water Balance method is a method used to find out how much water discharge that will be issued to a dam so that output water later can be utilized to optimally generate power. From our study we found that the obtained power was generated at peak load of 560.19 MW and therefore the discharge of water issued at the dam is equal to 134.05 tons / sec. We obtained a different trend pattern every year, where in 2015 trend pattern rises, in the year 2016 there is a trend pattern that is relatively constant and in the year 2017 a pattern of downward trend occured.","PeriodicalId":117730,"journal":{"name":"Simetrikal: Journal of Engineering and Technology","volume":"96 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123860340","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

PS/PP blends of 20/80, 50/50 and 80/20 (wt%) were prepared through melt blending in a single screw extruder at a screw speed of 40 rpm and temperature of 200 oC. The rheologycal properties were evaluated by melt flow indexer machine with the temperature of 200 oC. Four types of compatibilizers viz. polystyrene-block-poly (ethylene-butylene)-block-polystyrene (SEBS), surlyn, ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and sodium salt hydrate of 4 styrenesulfonic acid (ssh-4-ssh) were used in this study. The concentration of the compatibilizer is 7.5wt%.Results show for uncompatibilized blend, all blend compositions exhibit a reduction in melt viscosity, but the incorporation of EVA, surlyn and SEBS produced more resistance system to flow and increased the melt viscosity. However, in the presence of ssh-4-ssa a reduction in melt viscosity was observed, indicating easier for blend to flow.","PeriodicalId":117730,"journal":{"name":"Simetrikal: Journal of Engineering and Technology","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-01-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121732240","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
