Based on the syllabus of thermodynamics course in several Engineering Study Programs at Politeknik Negeri Bandung, it shows a very high need for Applied Physics on the subject of Thermodynamics as a prerequisite course. To be able to understand the concept of thermodynamics through laboratory activities, in this research the design and optimization of the Charles Gay-Lussac’s Law device was carried out, the measurement results were confirmed by calculation data using literature. Charles's law states that at fixed pressure, the volume of ideal gas with a certain mass is directly proportional to its temperature and Gay-Lussac's Law states that if the gas in a closed container is kept constant then the gas pressure is directly proportional to its absolute temperature. The results of the design of the Charles’s law experiment device, on P = 925 mbar and T = 298 K, obtained the average pressure of the trial results is 1043 mbar. The test results from the setting of the device show the average coefficient of determination (R2) = 0.9969, meaning that the effect of temperature is strong on changes in volume at a fixed pressure. In the design of the Gay-Lussac’s law experiment, at 925 mbar, T = 297.6 K and the volume of air in the flask was 0.578 x 10-3 m3, the number of moles of the average test shows a relatively consistent value of 1.51 mmol that is in the order of 10-2 mol. The test results show the value of R2 = 0.9822, meaning that the effect of temperature is strong on changes in pressure at a fixed volume.Abstrak: Berdasarkan kajian silabus mata kuliah termodinamika pada beberapa Program Studi Teknik di Politeknik Negeri Bandung menunjukkan kebutuhan yang sangat tinggi terhadap mata kuliah Fisika Terapan pokok bahasan Termodinamika sebagai mata kuliah prasyarat. Untuk dapat memahami konsep termodinamika melalui kegiatan praktikum, pada penelitian ini dilakukan desain dan optimasi alat percobaan Hukum Charles Gay-Lussac, hasil pengukuran dikonfirmasi dengan data perhitungan menggunakan literatur. Hukum Charles menyatakan bahwa pada tekanan tetap, volume gas ideal bermassa tertentu berbanding lurus terhadap temperaturnya dan Hukum Gay-Lussac menyatakan jika gas dalam wadah tertutup volumenya dijaga konstan maka tekanan gas berbanding lurus dengan temperatur mutlaknya. Hasil perancangan alat percobaan hukum Charles, pada PUkur = 925 mbar dan TRuang rata-rata = 298 K, diperoleh tekanan rata-rata hasil uji coba 1043 mbar. Hasil pengujian dari setting alat tersebut menunjukkan nilai koefisien determinasi rata-rata (R2) = 0.9969, artinya kuatnya pengaruh suhu terhadap perubahan volume pada tekanan tetap. Pada perancangan alat percobaan hukum Gay-Lussac, pada PUkur 925 mbar, TRuang rata-rata 297.6K dan volume udara dalam labu 0.578 x 10-3 m3, diperoleh jumlah mol rata-rata pengujian 1.51 mmol. However, the determination of beginning morning prayer is still difficult, because the sun is below the horizon. The determination of the beginning of dzuhur, ashr, and maghrib times are easier since the sun's shadow is still clearly visible. The sun position is determined by sun declination. The sun declination value is given a positive sign (+) when it is north of the sky equator and negative sign (-) when it is to the south of the celestial equator. This research method uses the experimental method. The determination of the subuh time has been done by measuring sky brightness level that was measured by SQM. There is a difference between the beginning of morning prayer time between the Accurate Times software calculation and the measurement. In the sun declination variation, difference data ranged from 21 - 36 minutes. From this study, it was concluded that the value of sun declination affected the beginning of dawn time.Abstrak: Penentuan awal waktu salat yang tepat penting bagi umat muslim, karena merupakan salah satu rukun salat. Namun, penentuan awal waktu salat subuh masih sulit, karena matahari berada di bawah horizon. Penentuan awal waktu zuhur, asar, dan magrib lebih mudah karena bayangan matahari masih terlihat jelas. Posisi matahari ditentukan oleh deklinasi matahari, nilai deklinasi matahari diberi tanda positif (+) ketika berada di sebelah utara ekuator langit dan negatif (-) ketika berada di sebelah selatan ekuator langit. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen. Penentuan awal waktu subuh dengan menggunakan pengukuran Tingkat Kecerahan Langit (TKL) ini diukur dengan Sky Quality Meter (SQM). Terdapat selisih awal waktu salat subuh antara perhitungan Software Accurate Times dan pengukuran. Pada variasi deklinasi matahari diperoleh data selisih berkisar antara 21-36 menit. However, numerical weather forecasts in Indonesia are still problematic in terms of the accuracy of numerical models. Several previous studies have shown that modeling accuracy is strongly influenced by errors in the initial condition data. This study examines efforts from the research and development of the Weather Forecast and Forecast (WRF) model of preliminary data using a satellite beam assimilation procedure for forecasting rainfall in the Ambon region for two different case studies in 2018. Six experimental models are carried out by assimilation of sensors AMSU-A and MHS satellites use the WRFDA 3DVar system. This research was conducted by increasing the assimilation analysis on the initial data model, analyzing the model skills in the dichotomy of rainfall predictions, rainfall criteria, spatial rainfall, and time series of rainfall accumulation compared to BMKG rainfall observation data. The results showed that the DA AMSU-A and MHS experiments correctly modified the initial condition data of the model. Meanwhile, the results of dichotomous verification revealed that the DA observation experiment had the highest skill score forecast compared to other assimilation. but more experiments are needed in the northern Sumatra area to provide more significant results.Abstrak: Prediksi cuaca numerik saat ini terus dikembangkan untuk mengatasi kebutuhan akan ramalan curah hujan resolusi tinggi. Namun, ramalan cuaca numerik di Indonesia masih bermasalah dalam hal akurasi model numerik. Beberapa penelitian sebelumnya menunjukkan bahwa akurasi pemodelan sangat dipengaruhi oleh kesalahan dalam data kondisi awal. Penelitian ini mengkaji upaya-upaya dari penelitian dan pengembangan model Prakiraan Cuaca dan Prakiraan (WRF) data awal menggunakan prosedur asimilasi pancaran satelit untuk prakiraan curah hujan di wilayah Ambon untuk dua studi kasus pada musim yang berbeda selama 2018. Enam model eksperimental dijalankan dengan asimilasi sensor satelit AMSU-A dan MHS menggunakan WRFDA sistem 3DVar. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan analisis peningkatan asimilasi pada model data awal, analisis keterampilan model pada dikotomi prediksi curah hujan, kriteria curah hujan, curah hujan spasial, dan time series akumulasi hujan dibandingkan dengan data pengamatan curah hujan BMKG. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa eksperimen DA AMSU-A dan MHS memodifikasi data kondisi awal model dengan benar. There are various methods in evaluating the availability of water resources in an area, one method that has a high level of significance is the Thornthwaite Mather water balance method. Water balance analysis was carried out in 3 Wilayahs in Java Island which have monsoonal rain types, including Bandung, Begawan Solo watershed, and Pasuruan. The results of the evaluation of the availability of water resources in Bandung show a surplus condition of water in the rainy season period and deficit in the dry season period. Meanwhile, the water balance analysis in Solo shows deficit conditions in all areas covered by the Bengawan Solo watershed. Water balance analysis in Pasuruan Regency shows the same pattern as the Bandung area, where there is a surplus condition in the rainy season and deficits in the dry season period. While the results of the projection of the availability of water resources show varying results in the three Wilayahs, where there is generally an increase in the number of Wilayahs experiencing water deficits. Based on these conditions, water conservation efforts need to be formulated, both by the community and the local government.Abstrak: Sebagai sumber daya alam yang sangat vital dalam menunjang kehidupan manusia, evaluasi ketersediaan sumber daya air merupakan sebuah urgensi dalam menentukan serta memproyeksikan kondisi surplus atau defisit air di suatu wilayah. Terdapat berbagai metode dalam mengevaluasi ketersediaan sumber daya air di suatu wilayah, salah satu metode yang memiliki tingkat signifikansi tinggi adalah metode neraca air Thornthwaite Mather. Analisis neraca air dilakukan pada 3 wilayah di Pulau Jawa yang memiliki tipe hujan monsunal, meliputi Bandung, DAS Begawan Solo, dan Pasuruan. Hasil evaluasi ketersediaan sumber daya air di Bandung menunjukkan kondisi surplus air pada periode musim penghujan dan defisit pada periode musim kemarau. Sementara itu, analisis neraca air di Solo menunjukkan kondisi defisit pada seluruh area yang tercakup dalam DAS Bengawan Solo. Analisis neraca air di Kabupaten Pasuruan menunjukkan pola yang sama dengan wilayah Bandung, dimana terjadi kondisi surplus pada periode musim penghujan dan defisit pada periode musim kemarau. Sedangkan hasil proyeksi ketersediaan sumber daya air menunjukkan hasil yang bervariasi pada ketiga wilayah, dimana secara umum terjadi peningkatan jumlah wilayah yang mengalami defisit air. The hail occurred in Lubuklinggau City, South Sumatra on October 15 2018, at around 16.20 WIB. Based on AWS Tugu Mulyo observation data, the rainfall on 15 October 2018 was recorded at 26.8 mm which included the medium rainfall category according to BMKG. This research aims to analyze the state of the atmosphere, satellite imagery, sea surface temperature anomalies, and air lability during the hailstorm in Lubuklinggau. Analysis of atmospheric conditions using air temperature data (T), air humidity (RH), and air pressure (P) results of observations of the surface before, during, and after the event. The Himawari satellite image with a resolution of 0.02º x 0.02º is processed with the SATAID application and is used to view the cloud growth phase. Air lability was analyzed by processing radiosonde data from Weather Wyoming Web using the RAOB application 5.7. The results of the analysis show that in the event of hail, the surface air temperature has decreased significantly, the surface air humidity has a significant increase, and the lowest surface air pressure is lower than the day before the hail. The air lability index shows that before the occurrence of hail, atmospheric conditions are unstable causing massive growth of convective clouds. The anomaly of sea surface temperature around Sumatra Island is quite warm, which is 0.5ºC. 1,8ºC which results in the possibility of cloud formation around Sumatra Island getting bigger. Based on satellite imagery, the peak temperature of the cloud at 16.00 WIB is -10.3ºC and at 16.10 WIB the cloud peak temperature reaches -67.8ºC. The significant decrease in cloud peak temperature in the 10-minute period indicates the presence of cloud growth due to a very strong updraft so that the peak temperature of the cloud becomes very cold. The temperature of the cloud peak reaching -67.8ºC shows that there is a convective cloud that is strong enough when there is hail in Lubuklinggau.Abstrak: Fenomena hujan es kembali melanda Indonesia. Hujan es tersebut terjadi di Kota Lubuklinggau, Sumatra Selatan pada tanggal 15 Oktober 2018 sekitar pukul 16.20 WIB. Berdasarkan data pengamatan AWS Tugu Mulyo, curah hujan pada tanggal 15 Oktober 2018 tercatat sebesar 26,8 mm yang termasuk kategori hujan sedang menurut BMKG. Penelitian kali ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis keadaan atmosfer, citra satelit, anomali suhu permukaan laut, dan labilitas udara pada saat terjadi hujan es di Lubuklinggau. Analisis keadaan atmosfer menggunakan data suhu udara (T), kelembapan udara (RH), dan tekanan udara (P) hasil pengamatan permukaan sebelum, saat, dan sesudah kejadian. Based on the report of the BPBD DIY Emergency Operation Center, this incident caused significant losses, including about 34 houses damaged and trees collapsed at a number of points. According to BMKG, landspout can generally occur when entering the transition season. The data used in this study are surface air observation data, radar data, and satellite data that are used to see cumulonimbus cloud growth. The method used is descriptive analysis to look at atmospheric dynamics when the landspout occurs. Based on the results of the analysis carried out the data used can show the process and characteristics of the landspout occurrence including a fairly low surface pressure decrease at the time of the incident, satellite imagery shows a collection of convective clouds that cause convection process, while radar images show a range of reflectivity between 30-35 dBZ.Abstrak: Pada tanggal 24 April 2018 terjadi puting beliung di wilayah Yogyakarta. Berdasarkan laporan Pusdalops BPBD DIY kejadian ini menimbulkan kerugian yang cukup signifikan diantaranya sekitar 34 rumah rusak dan pohon tumbang di sejumlah titik. Menurut BMKG, puting beliung umumnya dapat terjadi saat memasuki musim pancaroba. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data pengamatan udara permukaan, data radar, dan data satelit yang digunakan untuk melihat pertumbuhan awan cumulonimbus. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif untuk melihat dinamika atmosfer saat terjadinya putting beliung. To overcome these problems can be done with cultivation and the selection of the right location supported by hydrometeorological parameters that match the quality standards for marine biota is one factor that influences the success of cultivation. The cultivation of pearl oysters is one of the potential waters in Indonesia, especially in the waters of Lombok. The purpose of this study was to analyze hydrometeorological parameters (current velocity, sea surface temperature, and salinity) and their influence on potential areas for the cultivation of pearl oysters based on seasonal patterns in the waters of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. This study utilizes satellite image data from January 2006 to December 2016. The method used is to classify each hydrometeorological parameter based on scoring, then each parameter is overlaid so that the highest score is obtained which indicates the most potential area for the cultivation of pearl oysters. The results showed that in general in the waters of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara was included as a potential location for the cultivation of pearl oysters. The parameters used as references are in the good range for the growth and development of Pearl oysters in the waters of Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.Abstrak: Tiram mutiara (Pinctada maxima) merupakan salah satu sumber daya laut yang berpotensi ekonomi tinggi tetapi persediaannya dari alam tidak sebanding dengan pesatnya kebutuhan pasar untuk produk ini, sehingga populasi tiram mutiara makin menipis dan harganya pun terus meningkat. Untuk menanggulangi permasalahan tersebut dapat dilakukan dengan usaha budidaya dan pemilihan lokasi yang tepat dengan didukung parameter hidrometeorologi yang sesuai baku mutu untuk biota laut adalah satu faktor yang berpengaruh dalam keberhasilan usaha budidaya. Usaha budidaya tiram mutiara merupakan salah satu potensi perairan di Indonesia khususnya di wilayah Perairan Lombok. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis parameter hidrometeorologi (kecepatan arus, suhu permukaan laut, dan salinitas) serta pengaruhnya terhadap daerah potensial untuk budidaya tiram mutiara berdasarkan pola musiman di Perairan Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat. Penelitian ini memanfaatkan data citra satelit pada bulan Januari 2006 hingga bulan Desember 2016. Metode yang digunakan yaitu dengan mengklasifikasikan setiap parameter hidrometeorologi berdasarkan scoring, kemudian masing-masing parameter di overlay sehingga akan didapatkan skor tertinggi yang mengindikasikan daerah paling potensial untuk budidaya tiram mutiara. The research method is tapping a 2.7 cm diameter piezoelectric using a finger with a frequency of 30 bpm, 60 bpm, 90 bpm, 120 bpm, 150 bpm and 180 bpm to fill a capacitor of 47 uF which is observed every 10 seconds for 90 seconds. The 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, and 180 bpm beats respectively produced the capacitor end voltage of 575 mV, 882 mV, 980 mV, 1337 mV, 1383 mV, and 1444 mV. After that, the relationship between the beat frequency and the final voltage of the capacitor is analyzed to be compared with charging the capacitor by the battery.Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan pengisian kapasitor oleh piezoelektrik dengan baterai. Metode peneltian berupa mengetuk sebuah piezoelektrik berdiameter 2,7 cm menggunakan jari tangan dengan frekuensi 30 bpm, 60 bpm, 90 bpm, 120 bpm, 150 bpm, dan 180 bpm untuk mengisi kapasitor sebesar 47 uF yang tegangannya diamati setiap 10 detik selama 90 detik. Ketukan 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, dan 180 bpm secara berturut – turut menghasilkan tegangan akhir kapasitor sebesar 575 mV, 882 mV, 980 mV, 1337 mV, 1383 mV, dan 1444 mV.
