To meet this objective, it is necessary to perform a thorough analysis of the devices to identify potential failure events in order to be able to take actions to reduce their risk of occurrence and increase the reliability and quality of the device. This research paper presents an effective tool for the detection from the design of possible failures in the devices, which allows actions to be taken for their correction in early stages. This analysis methodology combines several advanced fault analysis techniques, such as DFMEA, Fault Tree, and Bayesian networks, making the process of analyzing, detecting and correcting potential device failures more efficient. This methodology is applied to the analysis of a commercial 3D printer that uses fused filament deposition technology model Anet A8, making a preliminary filter using a DFMEA for subsequent analysis fault tree and Bayesian network managing to determine the probability of occurrence of 3D printing failures, this allows to take actions and establish priorities of corrective actions focused on reducing the risk of failure based on its probability of occurrence.\u0000Keywords: DFMEA, Fault tree, Bayesian Network, 3D printing, Fault probability","PeriodicalId":11386,"journal":{"name":"Dyna","volume":"47 12","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139454816","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This perspective is especially important for the design of injection-molded plastic parts, a complex process that often requires expert knowledge and costly simulation software not available to all companies. This article presents an innovative methodology for locating injection points in injection-molded parts using intelligent models with geometric algorithms for discrete topologies. The first algorithm calculates the center of mass of the discrete model based on the center of mass of each triangular facet in the system, ensuring uniform molten plastic distribution during mold cavity filling. Two sub-algorithms intelligently evaluate the geometry and optimal injection point location. The first sub-algorithm generates a geometric matrix based on a two-dimensional nodal quadrature adapted to the part's bounding box. The second sub-algorithm projects the nodal matrix and associated circular areas orthogonally on the part's surface along the demolding direction. The optimal injection point location is determined by minimizing the distance to the center of mass from the first algorithm's result. This novel methodology has been validated through rheological simulations in six case studies with complex geometries. The results demonstrate uniform and homogeneous molten plastic distribution with minimal pressure loss during the filling phase. Importantly, this methodology does not require expert intervention, reducing time and costs associated with manual injection mold feed system design. It is also adaptable to various design environments and virtual twin systems, not tied to specific CAD software. The validated results surpass the state of the art, offering an agile alternative for digital twin applications in new product design environments, reducing dependence on experts, facilitating designer training, and ultimately cutting costs\u0000Keywords: Injection Moulding, Product Design, Industrial Design, Geometrical Algorithms, Digital Twin","PeriodicalId":11386,"journal":{"name":"Dyna","volume":"70 S1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139396021","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article presents a novel method for the geometric reconstruction of the corneal surface from optical topography using a genetic algorithm. Traditionally, mathematical programming methods such as the least squares method have been used to obtain the coefficients of the corneal surface function, such as Navarro model or Zernike polynomials. This new method uses non-dominated multivariable genetic algorithm optimization to obtain the surface function coefficients from the point cloud obtained with corneal topographer device. Once the reconstruction is performed, the surface is represented using CAD software, and morphogeometric parameters are obtained. The experimental sample consisted in 33 healthy patients eyes, aged from 11 to 63, and without previous ocular surgeries or pathologies. Topographic data were obtained using a Scheimpflug Sirius tomographer (CSO, Italy). The computational optimization was executed under Matlab software environment (Mathworks, USA). The new method provides a lower mean squared error (MSE) than those obtained by the least squares or the nonlinear programming algorithms. Thus, the morphogeometric parameters obtained from the patient's corneas fit better, allowing for a better analysis of real clinical conditions.","PeriodicalId":11386,"journal":{"name":"Dyna","volume":"25 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139455193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"工程技术","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With advancements in technology, low-cost thermographic devices have now become readily available in the market. These cost-effective devices offer a more convenient and accessible option for individuals and businesses to perform onsite temperature measurements. In this paper, we examine the capabilities and limitations of a thermal-equipped smartphone and the potential impact on the thermography industry by comparison with a dedicated thermographic camera. The advantages of thermography still hold true for recent low-cost devices: non-invasive inspections, quick and efficient measurements, and hidden defects easily detected. The low-cost thermal-equipped smartphone proved to be a highly maneuverable system, easy to use and with option of overlapping with real color image, what facilitates the interpretation. The low-cost system is also characterized by a larger field of view but also by a lower resolution, what makes it impracticable for measuring small objects. It deals with the design of children's furniture, an intelligent cot, which adjusts to the needs of the first stage of life by including sensors and components that improve the baby's rest, and which, in turn, incorporates modularity in its design to be able to adapt to the following stages of the child's life up to the age of 12. In the medical field, there are two main types of splints: the rigid and disposable ones made of plaster, and the non-disposable but detachable ones, typically made up of metallic and polymeric components. Rigid splints are economical and can be quickly applied, but they have limitations in terms of weight, ventilation, and comfort, and also require medical staff intervention for their removal. On the other hand, detachable splints offer greater comfort and breathability, but they are more expensive and their fit to the patient is less accurate. This work presents the development of personalized orthopedic splints, lighter and more breathable, at a reasonable cost and production time. To achieve this, a methodology is proposed that includes an economical scanning of the area to be immobilized, an accessible and efficient digital design, and its production using MEX additive manufacturing technology, meeting the necessary mechanical requirements for immobilization and stiffness, based on finite element simulations.
