Here, we briefly review the theory of a system of conservation laws known as the kinematical conservation laws (KCLs), which govern the evolution of these surfaces. KCLs are the most general equations in conservation form which govern the evolution of Ω t with physically realistic singularities. A special type of singularity is a kink, which is a point on Ω t when it is a curve in two dimensions and a curve on Ω t when it is a surface in three dimensions. Across a kink, the normal direction n to Ω t and the normal velocity m of Ω t are discontinuous. This article is aimed at non-experts in the field. The near-ground remote sensing (drone) technique has provided broader agronomic applications for better crop management. Using this technology, retrieving information about crop biophysical parameters on a non-destructive basis at spatial and temporal scales has been made possible. Several drone-derived spectral Vegetation Indices (VI) have assessed crop growth status in a larger farming area. This study generated vegetation indices maps for a cotton field area located at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. The ground truth chlorophyll data (SPAD-502 Minolta meter) was collected on the same day of drone image acquisition. Vegetation indices viz., Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), Green Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (GNDVI), Normalized Difference Red Edge Index (NDRE), Red Edge Difference Vegetation Index (REDVI), Optimized Soil Adjusted Vegetation Index (OSAVI) and Modified Chlorophyll Absorption Ratio Index (MCARI) were derived from the five multispectral bands viz., red, green, blue, near-infrared and red edge. The data were processed using Pix4Dmapper software, and vegetation indices were derived using ArcGIS 10.6 software. Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis were done for validation and accuracy for ground truth chlorophyll data and vegetation indices. It was concluded that the Modified Chlorophyll absorption Ratio Index showed a better correlation coefficient (R=0.933) with ground truth chlorophyll data with an R 2 value of 0.87. The study revealed that obtaining near real time chlorophyll content using high spatial resolution drone images is reliable and quick. This information is very helpful in generating the chlorophyll map, which helps regulate the nutrient requirements at spatial variability. near-infrared for visualization of Indices are defined as a ratio of the difference between the reflectance of different spectral bands, which provide different data layers these help in monitoring the crop growth as they can enhance the spectral differences at specific 7 . N. hemisphaerospora and N. macrospora are reported as new records for India. This increases the number of Nowakowskiella species known from India to seven. Nowakowskiella multispora var. longa is rarely reported in the world and in the past has been recorded only from Poland and India. All these species along with a variety are illustrated with the help of light micrographs and compared with other similar species. Morphological descriptions, illustrations, distribution and comments of these examined species are presented. Besides, we analysed nu-rRNA gene sequences (partial LSU) of six Nowakowskiella isolates from Indian aquatic and soil samples. A synopsis of the characters to all these investigated species based on morphological characters are provided in this study to differentiate them.","PeriodicalId":11194,"journal":{"name":"Current Science","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88807142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"综合性期刊","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Quantifying these services is quintessential in ope-rationalizing the concept of management and decision-making relating to watershed management. The present study estimates the value of regulating (soil conservation and carbon sequestration) and supporting ES (ground-water recharge) generated by watersheds in India, and examines the factors that influence the flow of ES from watersheds. The study followed a meta-analysis approach using information from 221 watersheds in 5 major agro-climatic zones of the country. We found that the watershed generates ES to the tune of Rs 34,113 per ha, with water recharging alone accounting for 60% of it. It shows that people’s participation in the planning, implementation and management of watersheds significantly enhan-ces ES. Macro-watersheds ( ≥ 1000 ha) are more effective in generating ES, underscoring the need for investment in watersheds management in the semi-arid tropical regions, where problems of degradation of natural resources are more pronounced. This study suggests policies for land restoration and payment for ES to increase their flow.","PeriodicalId":11194,"journal":{"name":"Current Science","volume":"45 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84933707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"综合性期刊","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
