In the present study, an attempt has been made to review the existing literature to document and assess the projected crops yield vis-à-vis actual yield of various crops in India. It has been found that most of the studies have projected decline in yield of crops due to climate change up to 2020 and in future. However, actual yield of various crops in India has shown increasing trend till date. Adaptation measures like the release and adoption of new varieties of crops and increase in area under irrigation, use of more chemicals and fertilizers, improved mechanization of agricultural operations, etc. have contributed in enhancing the crop yield. Thus, such measures should be strengthened by the Government for sustainable agriculture.","PeriodicalId":11194,"journal":{"name":"Current Science","volume":"19 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83852977","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"综合性期刊","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The daily rainfall data of 45 years was used for generating Intensity Duration Frequency (IDF) curves of 2, 5, 10, 50 and 100 year return period. The performance of the storm-water drainage network was subsequently evaluated for each of these probable storms using rainfall-runoff simulations in US-EPA's SWMM software. The duration of flooding at drainage nodes under storms of different return period was considered for identifying flood-prone regions in the city. It was observed that about 21% of the city is currently under high and very high urban flood severity zones.","PeriodicalId":11194,"journal":{"name":"Current Science","volume":"445 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"72550932","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"综合性期刊","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose a novel method for estimating reproduction number ( R 0 ) using community mobility to obtain optimal vaccination coverage (OVC). Different scenarios for achieving the desired immunization rates are evaluated using nonlinear regression models. The impact of recovery rates on mobility is also assessed to determine how the economy would have fared in various scenarios. Lock-downs due to COVID-19, which restricted mobility, were the main cause of the decline in GDP. For the city of Mumbai in India, with an increase in recovery rate from 1% to 5%, it was observed that mobility and thus economic activity might have been restored to some extent. The findings presented here may aid the governing bodies in developing more effective emergency response plans.","PeriodicalId":11194,"journal":{"name":"Current Science","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90012666","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"综合性期刊","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These are important for nutrient cycling in soil and ectomycorrhizal fungi (ECM) are important source for these enzymes. In the present study, Dipterocarpus retusus seedlings native to Nagaland and Eastern Himalaya were inoculated with Scleroderma citrinum and Russula rosea ectomycorrhizal fungi along with un-inoculated seedlings. Soil enzymes like urease and dehydrogenase and nitrogen content were analyzed in rhizosphere region of seedlings. S. citrinum inoculated seedlings produced higher urease and dehydrogenase activity in rhizospheric soil and root surfaces and produced higher nitrogen content. Higher amount of carbohydrate content was observed in S. citrinum inoculated seedlings. Significant relation was found between ectomycorrhizal colonization and carbohydrate content. S. citrinum fungus was found to be more effective symbiont with D. retusus seedlings during nursery practices for nutrient acquisition in waste land soil.","PeriodicalId":11194,"journal":{"name":"Current Science","volume":"31 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":1.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89980181","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"综合性期刊","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
