It has been more than a decade since the government-led policy on KSL learners for school-age began, and it is necessary to look at the trends in research on KSL learners during school years and analyze the tendency of the research subject. As the focus of preceding studies related to this was on trend analysis, the focus was placed on describing the percentage of research topics in each year through a quantitative approach, and the subjects of the studies included adult learners, or often limited to specific academic journals or dissertations. Therefore, this study included both dissertation and academic journal papers for trend analysis of KSL learners for school-age. After the criteria were established by applying a systematic literature review, the analysis of the topics by year was conducted considering the task by period, and the learners’ types and the school level were considered. The analysis suggests that despite the short period of research, various subjects were studied in a compressed manner, and Korean language education is now being studied as an independent field as it comes to recent years. However, there were an imbalance in the theoretical research areas, and the “academic Korean language competence” part, which should be discussed fully, has yet to achieve. After they entered into Korean Peninsula in 1882, Overseas Chinese in Korea(OCK) became a bilingual community. It focused on their natural discourse and analyzed their intrasentential code-switching structure. As a result of analyzing their spoken corpus(18 reporters, 116'' 14'''', 3,003 sentence tokens), the frequency data came out in the order of ‘Korean > mixed language > Chinese’. And it revealed that the generation factor and geographical factor in OCK co-related when they speak privately. OCK variation structure could be divided into lexical variation, grammatical marker variation and syntactic variation, and accounted for 12.3% (370/3,003) of the total sentence tokens. Particularly, those variants have been influenced by Korean interference, and OCK used to code switch under we-code communication even in adults. In accordance with their reading patterns, this study seeks an effective way to teach students modern Korean poetry. Poetry is considered difficult to access due to ambiguity and connotation, while popular songs are easily understood by simple language and repetitive structure which are different from poetry. However, these two genres have links in visible aspects such as poetic language, subject matter, rhythm, format and structure, so that learners can react with these links and read poetry more independently. The positive role of popular songs in the learners’ poetry reading process can be seen in Korean learners’ reading patterns. The learners supplemented or modified their understanding of poetry through connecting the poetry and songs, and their understanding could be deepened when they analyzed the differences between them. Furthermore, they reconstructed the meaning of poetry in their own context. According to the result of experiment, this study raises a few suggestions which will enhance the effectiveness of modern Korean poetry reading education using popular songs.
