The design is based on a transfer function which adopts the Bessel function of the S domain as its original lowpass filter. By bilinear transformation of the 1-D S domain to the 3-D Z domain to the function, a linear phase 3-D recursive digital filter can be realized. The realized 3-D IIR filters not only keep the advantages of the linear phase characteristics in the pass band and approximately linear phase characteristics in the stop band, but also compress the transition band and increase the attenuation of the stopband. The 3-D QMF IIR digital filters can be realized by lower order ones to accomplish real-time image separation and reconstruction.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":110496,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of TENCON '93. The edge-detection algorithm is a 3/spl times/3 Sobel operator and adopts a new circuit of adding to orientation information. The hardware is designed to work at the 10 MHz pixel rate, and will accommodate images of 512/spl times/512 pixels at frames/s with noninterlaced video, or of up to 512/spl times/290 pixels with interlaced scanning. The hardware is pipelined and paralleled to achieve the required speed. 20 ms is needed to process a 512/spl times/290 pixels grey-level image. It may be used in military reconnaissance, TV real-time tracking or industry inspection.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":110496,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of TENCON '93. The media access protocol is based on the timed token access protocol which provides adjustment of the load offered to the ring by setting the target token rotation time (TTRT). The present paper describes an analytical model of a homogeneous FDDI network under the assumption of heavy load, which allows the TTRT to be frequently bid for and adjusted as and when the access time requirements of synchronous traffic changes. An algorithm to calculate the mean throughput of the network under frequent renegotiation has been derived. The behaviour of the FDDI network under frequent renegotiation is analysed.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":110496,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of TENCON '93. The system provides for considerable flexibility in conferencing facilities: it supports three different modes of floor control passing and switching between these modes during a conference. Conferees can join a conference in various ways, with selection of chairperson according to seniority defined in the agenda file. To handle the concurrency problem, only the floor holder can modify shared data in the public windows. Each conferee holds a copy of shared data and only update operations are sent so as to improve response time and minimize network traffic. A simple and well defined application user interface (API) is provided and a number of multimedia applications has been developed using the API.<<ETX>>","PeriodicalId":110496,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of TENCON '93.
