By adding a short-circuited microstrip stub at the unbalanced port, a wideband balun initially designed with three-pole quasi-Chebyshev response is modified to exhibit a four-pole fully-Chebyshev response. With its two-port equivalent circuit network, this proposed balun BPF is theoretically designed. To experimentally verify the design approach, a wideband balun BPF prototype centered at 2 GHz is simulated, fabricated and tested. An in-band amplitude imbalance smaller than 0.16 dB and phase imbalance less than 0.58° between the two output ports are measured.","PeriodicalId":109953,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130487318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The unusual design is fulfilled by replacing each arm of the coupler by several composite right/left-handed (CRLH) unit cells whose characteristic impedance and electrical length are controllable at two frequency bands. For size reduction, the CRLH unit cells, consist of two left-handed T-networks and a right-handed $pi$ -network inserted in between, are realized by quasi-lumped elements on IPD process. According to experimental results, the proposed on-chip coupler provides good electrical responses as a branch-line/rat-race coupler at 1.5/2.5 GHz while occupies a very compact size of $7.15 times 5.15 mm^{2}$.","PeriodicalId":109953,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP)","volume":"114 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121093032","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A combination of two different simulation tools is used. At first a textile simulator is used to reproduce crumpling actions according to the fabric’s material parameters. The resulting model can then be imported into a boundary-element based electromagnetic solver. Such an approach offers the flexibility to fold the device in any possible form, without distorting the shape, that means the surface area remains constant.","PeriodicalId":109953,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115458482","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper the flexibility of the AM is exploited to obtain compact waveguide filters. Filters are based on transverse slant ridge resonators inside a rectangular waveguide. The ridge incorporates a slot, possibly folded. The resonance of the slot is exploited in addition to the resonance of the transverse slanted ridge to obtain a compact dual mode resonator. Therefore, a single slotted ridge can produce two poles and two transmission zeros (TZs). Control of couplings to ridge resonance is obtained by using the slant angle, while control of couplings to slot resonance is obtained by folding the slot in different points. The structure realizes a transversal topology allowing the control of the transmission zero by controlling the ratio between coupling to ridge resonance and coupling to slot resonance.","PeriodicalId":109953,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP)","volume":"516 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116217068","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

All filters proposed here benefit from a symmetrical layout and can hence been cut in the E-plane. Design strategies for the proposed filter set-up are presented. Measurement results for a four cavity filter with up to two real frequency axis transmission zeros (TZs) are discussed. An extension to a higher number of TZs is possible. To reduce the production costs the commonly known fused deposition modelling (FDM) technique is used for the realization of the waveguide filters. Subsequent electroplating necessary for implementation of conductive surfaces will be discussed. The insertion loss of the proposed filters can drastically be reduced by the use of the E-plane cut.","PeriodicalId":109953,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125218943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The bandwidth and gain obtained for the annular patch are 267 MHz and 7.3 dB respectively. The impedance bandwidth of the antenna is enhanced from 4 % to 18 % by introducing two complementary split ring resonators (CSRR) near the feed. By the introduction of CSRR, the antenna resonates at three different frequencies 6.4 GHz, 6.8 GHz and 7.3 GHz with gain 5.5 dB, 7.3 dB, and 0.2 dB.
