The proposed antenna shows a simulated bandwidth of 130 MHz (from 2.37 to 2.50 GHz) in the free space (FS) and 128 MHz (from 2.36 to 2.49 GHz) when it is mounted directly on a flat homogeneous phantom, which cover the targeted Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band. High radiation efficiency (greater than 74 % in the FS and greater than 70% on a phantom in the ISM band), is combined with a low maximum 10 g averaged SAR of 0.0971 W/kg at net input power 0.1 W, so the proposed antenna can be a good candidate for use in the wearable devices.","PeriodicalId":109953,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129539939","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To reach the necessary sensitivity for dielectric non-linearities, the setup ensures that the measured intermodulation can be ascribed to the material under test while all other intermodulation sources are excluded. Electric field amplitudes of several V/mm are obtained at an input power of 100 W. The setup was used to characterize the third order non-linear susceptibility of a glass ceramic.","PeriodicalId":109953,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP)","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116150349","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The horn antenna is designed in a simulative approach to meet specific requirements regarding symmetrical radiation, high gain, strong side lobe attenuation, good matching and a focused main lobe in the range of 8° - 10°. Due to material limitations in the manufacturing process, the antenna material’s conductivity is improved by electroplating a thin layer of gold. Finally, measurement results of the power transmission and the near and far field are provided to validate the specifications of the manufactured horn antennas, demonstrating that the design goals are met.","PeriodicalId":109953,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121108594","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Rough surfaces with height fluctuations following normal statistics are fabricated using two different 3D printing techniques. The results presented here confirm that the surface roughness has a noticeable effect on the level of the diffuse scattering energy. In the future, the applied method can be used to validate analytical models as well as to gain scattering patterns from more complicated rough surface structures which fall outside the limits of most analytical approximations.","PeriodicalId":109953,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP)","volume":"100 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121576792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This commercially available system consists of three parts, namely, vector network analyzer (VNA), the material characterization kit (MCK), and two waveguide extenders which measure the S -parameters in the frequency range of interest to derive the complex dielectric properties of material samples using stepwise Nicolson-Ross-Weir (NRW) method. These frequency dependent material parameters such as permittivity, refractive index and absorption coefficient are mandatory to analyze and model the wave propagation thoroughly for the aforementioned unexplored frequencies along with the ability to classify and localize these different materials precisely. Until previously, only THz time-domain spectroscopy (THz TDS) system based on down-conversion (time-domain) method is employed to measure the spectroscopic responses for this cause.","PeriodicalId":109953,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP)","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-05-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115850418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
