For low RF/microwave measurements, the sensing area is modeled as a capacitance in parallel with a conductance. According to the conformal mapping technique, a linear relationship between the capacitance and the permittivity of the liquid under test is obtained, which is further validated through a three-dimensional finite element simulation method. The sensor is then successfully used to characterize deionized water, pure isopropanol, and water-isopropanol mixtures.","PeriodicalId":109953,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP)","volume":"1 ","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132468104","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The microcone formation emerges from an inkjet printed Si nanoparticle film after laser sintering yielding a Schottky diode when a corresponding top metallization is applied. The elementary microcone diodes differ electrically in their barrier height, which is modelled as a gaussian distribution. The circuit simulation software Advanced Design System (ADS) is used to analyze the rectification abilities of the overall structure. The results show that a distributed barrier height leads to a smoother IV-characteristic, which can also be interpreted as an aggregated diode with a smaller turn on voltage. A Fourier analysis of the rectified time-domain signal shows an amplification of the frequency components up to the third harmonic in comparison to a non distributed single diode.","PeriodicalId":109953,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130684871","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The development of suitable detectors, detection techniques, and sources for this frequency range has much interest over the past decade. THz pulses of sufficient strength that act as an excitation of dynamics in the matter have only been available, due to the development in 4th generation light sources based on superconducting radiofrequency (SRF) technology. In the THz pump laser probe experiments the electric or magnetic field in the THz pump pulse acts as the excitation of dynamics in the matter. Ultra-short laser pulses then probe this dynamic in turn. In this contribution, we will outline the pulse-resolved data acquisition scheme of the TELBE user facility based on the characterization of a new class of accelerator-based light sources, which provide a unique combination of high pulse energies and high repetition rates.","PeriodicalId":109953,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127145132","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on the so-called stacked planar multipole resonance probe (spMRP), the sensor is placed directly on the plasma-remote side of a dielectric substrate to be coated, thus minimizing its influence on the process. The sensor’s electric field penetrates both substrate and deposited dielectric layers and couples into the plasma. This enables an effective supervision of the plasma parameters required for process control at the point of highest interest. The effect of increasing coating thicknesses on the measurement performance is investigated within 3D electromagnetic field simulations. Final measurements in an argon-oxygen plasma depositing aluminium oxide confirm both the general suitability of the proposed concept as well as the insensitivity to additional dielectric coatings.","PeriodicalId":109953,"journal":{"name":"2019 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Workshop Series on Advanced Materials and Processes for RF and THz Applications (IMWS-AMP)","volume":"217 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124286562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The basic composite with CNT concentration of 5 wt% and the functionalized CoFe composites with CNT concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 20% are prepared using chemical vapour deposition (CVD) technique. The dielectric properties along with the loss tangent values are measured using an openended coaxial probe and compared in the spectral range of 0.2 – 20 GHz. The samples are also evaluated for its reflection loss measurements at normal incidence. The measurement results show that for a given thickness of the samples, the functionalized CNT composites exhibit high absorption efficiencies or lower reflection losses as compared to the basic CNT composite.
