The purpose of this research is to look into the factors that influence the entry strategies chosen by multinational corporations doing business in Ethiopia. To collect data at a specific time, this study used cross-sectional surveys and an explanatory research methodology. Data from multinational corporations were collected for this study using deliberate sampling methods. In the end, only 120 (or 80%) of the 154 surveys distributed were returned. However, only 112 surveys were used for the statistical analysis, yielding a response rate of 72 percent. To investigate the factors influencing the choice of entry mode, a multinomial legit model was used. The study discovered that, at a 5% level of significance, the size of the firm and the size of the market had a positive and substantial influence on the decision to choose export and intermediate entry over the hierarchical entrance. However, at a 10% significance level, factors such as global experience, market infrastructure, cultural distance, flexibility, and degree of control are favourably and significantly impacting the decision to choose the export and intermediate modes of entrance over the hierarchical modes. The recommendations based on the study's findings consider how the study may affect different stakeholders, such as the Ethiopian government, regional businesses, international firms, and other researchers.  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":109875,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Management and Marketing Studies","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124961920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Highly competitive telecommunication companies continuously look for ways to improve employees' work performance. This research focuses on how social media improves the work performance of Gen-Y employees of a telco in Malaysia through social media use, shared vision, network ties, trust, and knowledge transfer. This research discovered an insignificant relationship between social media use at the workplace and work performance. This is because social media is currently not an official workplace tool, and its usage is limited among Gen-Y employees in the telco. It was also uncovered that using social media to act as a tool to gain trust did not influence work performance, even though the telco's primary official communication tool is email and a mobile app for communication and collaboration purposes. Nevertheless, this research uncovered that shared vision, network ties, and knowledge transfer is significant for the telco's Gen-Y employees to enhance their work performance. In conclusion, the telco's management can leverage social media to improve the work performance of Gen-Y employees by developing a social media strategy to provide a suitable framework with proper guidelines, policies, and procedures.  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":109875,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Management and Marketing Studies","volume":"58 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130705210","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These factors include the high level of employee turnover. For example, in 2017, an estimated 700 doctors quit employment in government-run hospitals. Additionally, the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Union (KMPDU) estimated that up to 2,300 doctors had left devolved sector employment between 2014 and 2016 for private sector engagement or further education abroad. Moreover, the various groups of healthcare workers including doctors, nurses, and clinical officers have held numerous industrial strikes against their employers. Consequently, this study seeks to study the factors influencing job motivation in the healthcare public sector. The study is based on Herzberg’s 2-factor theory that splits factors affecting employee job motivation as extrinsic and motivating factors. The study used a descriptive research design and the target population was health workers in Nakuru County Public health facilities including doctors, clinical officers, laboratory technicians, pharmacists and nurses. The study population was 1756 respondents. The sample size of this study, using Taro Yamane’s (1967) formula, was 326 respondents. The correlation between diverse factors and job motivation was examined. The study found a strong positive correlation between extrinsic factors and job motivation (r = 0.633, p value = 0.000). The regression analysis results revealed that a unit increase in extrinsic factors is associated with a 0.318 increase in job motivation levels.  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":109875,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Management and Marketing Studies","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133306114","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main objective of the study is to examine the effect of personal selling and sales promotion strategy on the market performance of selected manufacturing companies in Lagos State Nigeria. specifically, the study determines the effect of sales promotion on the market performance of manufacturing companies in Lagos Nigeria and determines the effect of personal selling on the market performance of these manufacturing companies in Lagos Nigeria. The econometric technique involving descriptive research, correlation coefficient and multiple regressions was used for the data analysis. A population and sample of 24 product promotional-related managers were drawn through a census sampling technique. Two research instruments – Annual Report/Financial Statement and Questionnaire were used for data collection. The result of the study indicates that there is a significant predictive impact of sales promotional strategy on the market performance and that there is a significant contribution of the promotional tool on the profit margin level of all six companies. The study, therefore, concludes that personal selling and sales promotion strategies have a positive and significant impact on the market performance of selected manufacturing companies in Lagos, Nigeria. Amongst the recommendations is that staff saddled with the implementation of personal selling and sales promotional strategy should devote time and resources to it since it largely influences the profitability of the companies. JEL: J24; L60; L20  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":109875,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Management and Marketing Studies","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124323781","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The most hit is the hospitality industry, especially the bar & restaurant businesses, which are considered high human density areas. This study sought to examine the influence of technology & innovation as a survival strategy on the performance of bars & restaurants in Nairobi County, Kenya, in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic. The study was based on diffusion of innovation theory and business resilience theory. The population under study was a total of 6,383 licensed bar & restaurant businesses in Nairobi County. The study adopted a survey design and a sample of 100 dive bars & restaurants that was representative of the whole population was selected. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression models and used textual explanation, and charts to present the results. The study achieved a response rate of 89%, which was sufficient for generalization. The study found that the crisis had a major negative impact on profitability, staff reputation, supplier relationship, compliance and public reputation. It also noted that there was a loss of jobs and revenue from the establishments due to the crisis. The study noted that technology & innovation had a significant negative influence on business performance when adopted during a crisis. The study recommended that the government consider allocating a stimulus package to cushion businesses during the crisis as the finding noted the loss of revenue and massive job losses in the sector. Secondly, the government and investors should have a general crisis management policy for bar & restaurant businesses during the crisis as the study noted that performance was affected negatively attributable to non-preparedness or lack of policy. The study further recommended that the investors adopt mission-critical strategies earlier in their business cycle as opposed to adopting them only during a crisis, as the study noted that adopting rush strategies does not yield any positive influence on the performance. For the scholars, the study also recommended a further exploratory study on more factors influencing the performance of bar & restaurant businesses during crisis so that the subsequent studies will have an exhaustive list of strategies to examine. JEL: L10; L20; J10  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":109875,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Management and Marketing Studies","volume":"115 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121436491","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It led to skyrocketing numbers of deaths and outbreaks, challenged the public and private health systems of many countries and brought many national economies to a halt. Kenya was not an exception and like other countries used a number of strategies to combat the epidemic but equally suffered the same fate. There is little empirical evidence to determine whether the strategies, especially by the county governments were effective in handling the Covid-19 pandemic. Thereby lies the knowledge gap that this study seeks to answer. It is against this background that this study sought to assess the extent to which medical equipment and supplies, personnel and funding influenced the management of the Covid-19 pandemic by county governments in Kenya. The general objective guiding the study was, to assess the factors influencing the management of the Covid-19 pandemic among county governments in Kenya. The specific objectives of the study were: To determine the extent to which medical equipment and supplies influenced the management of the Covid-19 pandemic in the county governments, to determine the extent to which the use of personnel resources influenced the management of the Covid-19 pandemic in the county governments and to determine the extent to which funding influenced the management of Covid-19 pandemic in the county governments. Fink's crisis management model guided the study, which reviewed the empirical literature on medical equipment and supplies, personnel resources and funding in the management of the Covid-19 pandemic. This study adopted a descriptive survey research design with a target population of 70,500 employees from the health sector. The research used simple random sampling as a sampling technique and a sample size of 100 respondents was selected using the Yamane formula. Data was collected using questionnaires. The data were subjected to descriptive statistics and analyzed using SPSS. Based on the findings, 79.6% of the respondents agreed that medical equipment and supplies greatly influenced the management of the Covid-19 pandemic in the county governments, 85% of the respondents indicated that personnel resources played a critical role in the management of Covid-19 pandemic among the counties and 74.2% of the respondents agreed that funding greatly influenced management of Covid-19 pandemic in county governments. Based on the findings, the study recommended that a staff audit and workload analysis should be undertaken and a recruitment process initiated to improve staffing levels; an audit of bed capacity of all medical facilities be initiated and a procurement plan for the acquisition of additional beds based on needs undertaken; an audit and analysis of staff training be undertaken to identify training gaps and necessary action initiated; negotiate with SRC on additional medical staff allowances and lastly fast-track legislation on the expend","PeriodicalId":109875,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Management and Marketing Studies","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123964395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The phenomenon of technological life, so ingrained in the culture of living as a community, has come to affect the way we live, think and even die. In this study, the effect of technology has been specifically examined on the basis of the dominance of the concept of ideology on the phenomenon of community. Then, the effects of ideology on online social networking groups were studied. The state of harmony and opposition that emerged in society and human behavior with the effect of technology has been the aim parameters of this study. Its methodological structure was designed with the Netnographic research method, and online social networking groups on the Facebook platform created the specific study area of the research. In the Constitutional Amendment Referendum held in Turkey on April 16, 2017, it was observed that the votes of individuals active in social networks were determined by the famous names they identify with. Therefore, it has been seen that ideological conformity behavior occurs with identification in the context of elections.  Article visualizations:","PeriodicalId":109875,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Management and Marketing Studies","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126301416","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Certainly, there are many external and internal factors that affect the performance of businesses and we, in this paper are focused on socio-cultural factors that affect the performance of the international business in terms of literature review. From the review of various literatures, we have come to the conclusion that the key factors that affect the performance of an international business are: 1) Culture; 2) Language; 3) Level of education, 4) Customer preferences. Socio-cultural aspects are one of the most important environmental factors that have a considerable impact on international business economic activity and performance. Furthermore, managers of foreign subsidiaries have no control over socio-cultural issues. The goal of this research is to explain how certain socio-cultural aspects influence the performance of overseas subsidiaries. The contribution of the article is shown in the determination of essential socio-cultural characteristics that international business considers in order to evaluate the actual performance of foreign subsidiaries and their management, based on the acquired results.JEL: L20; L23  ","PeriodicalId":109875,"journal":{"name":"European Journal of Management and Marketing Studies","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-05-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125616020","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
