Vorgabe dieser Tagung war es, wie die Herausgeberin des Tagungsbandes Ulla Haselstein in ihrem Vorwort schreibt und so auch von Kablitz (13) zitiert wird, „Perspektiven auf die Allegorie nach Benjamin und de Man [zu] resümieren und weiter [zu] entwickeln. Die Allegorie ist demzufolge nicht nur eine Figur, die das eine sagt oder vorstellt, um das andere zu bedeuten, sondern sie bedeutet, indem sie das von ihr Präsentierte dementiert. García-Page","doi":"10.1515/roja-2019-0016","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1515/roja-2019-0016","url":null,"abstract":"Abstract The aim of the present paper is to determine the category of locutions recognized by the Real Academia de la Lengua Española in the general academic dictionary, the Diccionario de la lengua española (DRAE). The research proves that throughout history the types of locutions established by the Academy have not been the same. On the contrary, classification changed over the years especially from the 19th edition dated 1970 up to the 23rd dated 2014, including the Diccionario esencial de la lengua española, dated 2006 (as it is indicated in the annex). The edition of 1970 was the first to establish a list of the types of locutions, with only five: adjectival, adverbial, conjunctive, prepositional, and interjective locutions. The edition of 2001 determines nine types of locutions: nominal, pronominal, verbal, adjectival, adverbial, conjunctive, prepositional, quantifier, and interjective locutions. The latest edition (2014) establishes eight types: nominal, pronominal, verbal, adjectival, adverbial, conjunctive, prepositional, and interjective locutions (the quantifier type is deleted). Lists are frequently used in spoken language as a discursive resource and can be considered as a universal, cross-lingual practice for structuring ideas. As such, they have been given attention in several fields of linguistics, mainly in intonation research, conversation analysis and interactional linguistics. However, the role of gestures and other physical forms of expression in listing has been mostly disregarded so far. For this reason, we attempt to cast light on the form and function of gestures and other bodily resources that are embedded in this practice. We argue that lists are multimodal and that bodily resources play a major role in establishing the format and in organizing the interaction. Combining methods from variationist and interactional linguistics, it is demonstrated that both the distribution of the variants and their discourse functions can be described in terms of the degree of mental accessibility of the interrogative proposition (P) and the referent of the interrogative pronoun/ adverb (X). In contexts in which both P and X have a low degree of accessibility, wh-interrogatives establish a new Question under Discussion; in contexts in which P has a high and X a low degree of accessibility, wh-interrogatives are used to elaborate a current Question under Discussion; in contexts in which both P and X have a high degree of accessibility, wh-interrogatives are used to repeat, clarify or challenge a previous utterance. Given that the wh-interrogative variants differ in their restrictions regarding the accessibility of P and X, they typically also fulfil different discourse functions. Schirnhofer","doi":"10.1515/ROJA-2018-0018","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1515/ROJA-2018-0018","url":null,"abstract":"Abstract As a phenomenon at the syntax-pragmatics interface, focus marking can cause particular difficulties in adult L2 acquisition and may never be fully acquired, whereas native-like competence can be achieved with formal syntactic properties. The present study examines this so-called Interface Hypothesis by analysing the strategies that monolingual German-speaking learners use to mark information focus in Spanish. Analyses of the test results show that around 97 % of the test subjects prefer to maintain the unmarked constituent order and mark focus in situ, irrespective of their proficiency level. In comparison with Spanish natives (Gabriel 2010, Heidinger 2014), the results show a divergence from the behaviour of native speakers, as the latter use various strategies. This indicates that the German-speaking learners do not make use of the variation of focus marking strategies the Spanish language provides, but rather adhere to in situ focalization, which is also the dominant focus-marking strategy in German.
