Chordal rings were related to find the shortest path in a ring structured. This paper presents an analysis of modified degree six chordal rings (CHRm6) and chordal rings degree six (CR6) or commonly known as traditional chordal rings degree six (CR6). This analysis includes the structures, tree visualization, paths, formulations and geometrical representation. The comparison of diameters was made between theoretical and ideal graphs for these two methods. We tested and compared for a large number of nodes. CHRm6 gives shortest diameters for even and odd source node.","PeriodicalId":103889,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Electronic Design","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133821566","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By reusing common blocks aggressively, the proposed FOD has smaller area and less power consumption. Also a new RunBefore decoder which decodes two values in one clock has been designed to improve the decoding performance. The proposed CAVLC decoder has been designed in Verilog HDL, and synthesized by synopsys' design compiler using magnachip 0.18mum CMOS cell library. Performance evaluation results show that our design has on average 48% faster than conventional designs.","PeriodicalId":103889,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Electronic Design","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131984067","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Instruction cache misses can severely limit the performance, due to advent of superscalar processors and multicore systems. Prefetching is one of the promising method to bridge the performance gap between CPU and DRAM speed. Although Instruction prefetching is a promising technique to hide the memory latency, they fail to issue prefetches early enough for modern superscalar processors. To overcome these limitations, we propose a new instruction prefetching technique called Basicblock Instruction Prefetching that employs a prefetch engine which issues prefetch instructions to achieve useful and early prefetches far enough in advance. Our prefetching design results in good coverage, is accurate, and produces timely results that can be effectively used by the processor. Performance evaluation is carried out through cycle-accurate trace-driven simulation. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme is successful in 80% accurate prediction and achieves better timeliness.","PeriodicalId":103889,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Electronic Design","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133250966","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) and proportional-derivative (PD)-type fuzzy logic controller are the techniques used in this investigation to actively control the vibrations of flexible structure. A constrained planar single-link flexible manipulator is considered and the dynamic model of the system is derived using the assume mode method. A complete analysis of simulation results for each technique is presented in time domain and frequency domain respectively. Performances of both controllers are examined in terms of vibration suppression and disturbances cancellation. Finally, a comparative assessment of the impact of each controller on the system performance is presented and discussed.","PeriodicalId":103889,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Electronic Design","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130106261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It has been observed through computer simulation that SBS causes backward scattering of transmit signal and this in turn causes a reduction of received power and limitation improvement for the bit error rate. It has been shown that the longer transmission distance have low Brillouin threshold power value and the power launched require must not excess the threshold power in order to overcome SBS effects. Also in this paper, we investigate and demonstrate how the attenuation coefficient and effective core area of optical fiber transmission influence the Brillouin threshold power in optical CDMA system.","PeriodicalId":103889,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Electronic Design","volume":"205 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116382483","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research is intended to study the combination of MOSFET and photoconductive material to perform as a single device light sensor MOSFET (LiSFET) using standard lithography process. Photolithography (also called optical lithography) has long been used to transfer circuit patterns from a template called photomask (or simply mask) on to silicon wafers during integrated circuit (IC) fabrication. When a light source is used to project the mask image onto the wafer, the image quality is often affected by the performance of the imaging system (also called exposure system).","PeriodicalId":103889,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Electronic Design","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116388652","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) enable optical multiplexing and demultiplexing in which the signals having different light wavelengths can be separated or combined to transmit in single fibre optic. Arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) multiplexer is a key element for wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems in optical telecommunication. This paper proposed a conventional AWG structure based on BenzoCyclobutene (BCB 4024-40) polymer for DWDM/CWDM applications. AWGs are designed on silica substrate with the polymer waveguide refractive index of 1.5556 and layer refractive index of 1.537. An objective of this work is to observe the performance of the chosen polymer material in optical wavelength multiplexer based on AWG technique. This work is based on beam propagation calculation on AWG structures of 4 channels. Two types of four channels AWG with crosstalk level below -31.5 dB and 30.9 dB have been successfully designed and operate well in 1550 nm communication window at their desired frequency spacing. As the number of IPs in an SoC design increases, IP verification and performance validation have become the important factors in reducing time-to-market. In this paper, we propose a novel SoC platform based verification methodology which tests multiple IPs together using a single testbench. We've found that commercially available SoC platforms such as Altera Excalibur or Xilinx Virtex provide excellent environment in verifying the functionalities of mutually interactive multiple IPs with very low cost. In our methodology, embedded processor core built in the SoC device is used mainly for verification purposes, and it runs a C-based testbench. The mutually interactive IPs are programmed in the FPGA device. We implement a set of tools which consists of a communication interface and a wrapper generator. Using this platform, we have verified up to 5 IPs together successfully, but we can verify more IPs together easily. Time and effort to verify complex IPs have been significantly reduced using this methodology.","PeriodicalId":103889,"journal":{"name":"2008 International Conference on Electronic Design","volume":"133 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133736509","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
