This concept is mainly related to Directive 27/2012 of the European Parliament and the Council regarding the 20% set percent reduction in total energy consumption. For achieving this objective the authors propose a new control method for the nuclear unit's medium voltage large pumps, using state-of-art variable frequency drives. In order to prove the effectiveness of this method specific computational simulation software is performed, using CANDU reactor specific data. The main benefits using this approach are the increase reliability of the power production process and the significant decrease in overall plant internal services energy consumption, up to 12.4%. This percent can contribute to energy efficiency set percent with a total share of 15 MWh of 7600 MW which represents the current Romanian energy production capacity.","PeriodicalId":103513,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Advanced Topics in Electrical Engineering (ATEE)","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123501550","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The objective function of the proposed algorithm is to minimize the system active power loss. The control variables are generator bus voltages, transformer tap positions and switch-able shunt capacitor banks. The new technique can easily treat with the both of continuous and discrete control variables and has been applied for practical IEEE 6, IEEE 14 and IEEE 30 bus systems. The proposed algorithm shows better results as compared to previous work.","PeriodicalId":103513,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Advanced Topics in Electrical Engineering (ATEE)","volume":"12 1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123627847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The three-dimensional (3D) models of prototypes are relatively easy to develop with the help of dedicated 3D software. The difficulties step in when the prototypes have to physically be manufactured. Moreover the manual prototyping is time consuming, expensive and sometimes requires specialized crafting in order to obtain alike parts that would behave similar during strength tests. The entire snag fades away when computer numerically controlled device is used. It is capable to process a wide range of materials (e.g. steel, aluminum, wood, glass) and reproduce with high accuracy identical items based on the 3D model designed with a computer. The prototype or small series production is cheaper and faster due to the repeatability of movements during the manufacturing process. In the paper are highlighted the steps and the requirements that must be followed in order to develop a 3-axis computer numerically controlled device.","PeriodicalId":103513,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Advanced Topics in Electrical Engineering (ATEE)","volume":"712 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124498279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The system is based on a microcontroller that communicates by Bluetooth protocol with a PC computer on that a virtual instrument is running. The system will be used to evaluate the teaching methods and the way they generate emotions to the people involved in the educational process. The principle underlying the device is the changing of the electrical resistance of the skin due to chemical reactions that occur when the emotional states generated by processing information occur. The system acquires data simultaneously from several subjects and saves them for further analysis.","PeriodicalId":103513,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Advanced Topics in Electrical Engineering (ATEE)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127879420","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The manufacturers of the electrical machines want to minimize the damage of the magnetic properties during the cutting process, in order to produce high efficiency motors or generators. In this paper are presented two non-conventional cutting technologies, which are used in the prototype production of the magnetic cores. These two methods have significant effects on the area near the cut edge; the water jet produces important burs and oxidation of the material and the laser cutting generates high local thermal stresses that increase the total energy losses of the magnetic core. There were tested steel samples of fully processed non-oriented alloys (NO FeSi) grades, M400-65A and M800-65A, with an area of 300 × 30 mm2. The magnetic properties were measured with a laboratory single strip tester in the range of frequency from 10 ÷ 400 Hz at 1 T peak magnetic polarization.","PeriodicalId":103513,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Advanced Topics in Electrical Engineering (ATEE)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131553024","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
