This is raising the question of merging the two types of information and assessing the quality of the result. Modern control algorithms process information acquired from distributed, synchronized measurement systems. Their requirements are difficult to meet when multiple measurement approaches are simultaneously used: on one side, the existing time-aggregation assessments in SCADA framework, including smart meters; on the other side, the high-resolution waveform-based monitoring devices like PMUs with fault-recorder functionality which are increasingly deployed in distribution systems. In this paper we propose a methodology for assessing the variability of a particular quantity in the monitored power network while using two different reporting rates and time-aggregation algorithms.","PeriodicalId":103513,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Advanced Topics in Electrical Engineering (ATEE)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127244573","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The “maneuver” concept describes a set of operations used to change the state of different pieces of equipment, their operation regime or modify the electrical connections matrix in the system. The maneuvers can be executed either locally, from the main control panel of the platform by means of command keys or can be triggered remotely. The mode of command input (local or remote) is set by the regimes key. Changes in the state of different pieces of electrical equipment are cross-conditioned by the circuit diagram of the electrical station. The state of the devices is displayed in accordance with information received from the interface relays or the PLC interface. This educational platform contributes to a better understanding of the types of maneuvers and of the connections between multiple interacting pieces of electrical equipment in a power station. The automated distribution systems allow for the rapid and safe reconfiguration of the power feed. The maneuver simulating methods described in this paper can be used to verify the synoptic panels located in substations. Knowledge on how to construct these panels and on the interconnection matrix contributes to the training of the operating personnel designated to work in electrical substations.","PeriodicalId":103513,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Advanced Topics in Electrical Engineering (ATEE)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124393838","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This type of actuator has, due to its design, an equilibrium position that allows displacement of the actuator's rod in both directions. To energize and drive the actuator it is used a method of adjusting the duty-cycle of a PWM signal and MOSFET transistors. As a feedback non-contact displacement transducer it is used an arrangement of two linear ratiometric Hall sensors and a small permanent magnet disc attached to the mobile actuator's rod that moves between the two fixed sensors. Both input data, acquired from the sensors, and output PWM signal is processed through the pins of an open-source electronics prototyping platform based on Atmel microcontroller. Analog data acquired from the sensor is converted to distance after a calibration method through a lookup table. The setup allows measurements to be taken with 0.1 mm precision of the actuator's rod position and to plot the static characteristic of displacement for a range up to ±5mm.","PeriodicalId":103513,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Advanced Topics in Electrical Engineering (ATEE)","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129862867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The modern society is information oriented, technology dependent and collaborative-network active. The paper discusses the existing conditions of the transition period from the old meters to the smart meters, in terms of its impact and considering the different types of electricity consumers. It also addresses the future perspectives of the smart meters implementation in the context of actual technological changes. As the young Web 2.0 generation is moving into adulthood, smart metering systems will be more easily accepted and their use will have a better consumer feedback. To obtain the most benefits from smart metering systems, the household energy consumer must be actively involved in the planning process from its early stages, to become both a real actor in shaping the future implementation and an aware customer who adopts good demand side behaviour.","PeriodicalId":103513,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Advanced Topics in Electrical Engineering (ATEE)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130545668","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to develop and implement this interface, the programming environment LabVIEW was used. In order to recognize a K complex in the EEG signal, a simple detector was created, using Peak Detector VI in LabVIEW. The detector receives the representation of the power spectrum of the signal and determines the locations and the amplitudes of signals above a certain limit (the limit can be set by moving the horizontal bar in the power spectrum). Then the code determines if the peak correspond to those which designate a K complex. Following these experimental achievements where an EEG signal was used, it was determined that one could reliably observe a K complex in the data from the sleep spindles, focusing on only 2 peaks in the power spectrum. The first peak should appear between 0,5 and 1.50 Hz, having an amplitude exceeding 65 units, while the second peak should appear between 5 and 10 Hz, having an amplitude of at least 30 units.","PeriodicalId":103513,"journal":{"name":"2015 9th International Symposium on Advanced Topics in Electrical Engineering (ATEE)","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130706571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
