Since extensible processing platforms combine a high-performance processing system and reconfigurable logic on the same microchip, they are chosen for design space exploration and evaluation of different types of software/hardware partitioning. It is shown that reconfigurable logic is more preferable for concurrent execution of lower level application-specific operations over vectors such as Hamming weight computation, test for orthogonality/intersection, and the majority of bitwise operations. Higher level procedures mainly involving sequential processing of matrices are more efficient for implementation in software running on embedded processor. Two problems from the scope of the Boolean satisfiability were taken as a case study. All the proposed solutions were modeled in software and then were implemented, tested, and evaluated in Zynq xc7z020 microchip.","PeriodicalId":103316,"journal":{"name":"MELECON 2014 - 2014 17th IEEE Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130279530","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cognitive Radio (CR) technology is introduced as a solution to allow secondary (unlicensed) users to utilize the available frequency bands that are unutilized by primary (licensed) users. This feature, offered to CR users, has shown great potential for enhancing the performance of wireless networks and meeting the demands of future generation wireless applications. However, using this technology will impose several challenges influence the performance of the primary network. In this paper, the queuing system delay is studied, and a dynamic channel allocation technique for CR networks is presented. Based on multi-channel and time slotted scenario, the proposed scheme determines the optimal channel for spectrum switching. Moreover, in this paper, we discuss the interference problem caused by a simultaneous transmission of CR users and primary users. The large message segmentation subject to collision constraints is also investigated in this work. The simulation results have shown that the average delay can be reduced using the M/D/1 queuing model, which can improve the CR network performance. The proposed model is then used to evaluate the effects of the number of channels and channel utilization on the network performance.","PeriodicalId":103316,"journal":{"name":"MELECON 2014 - 2014 17th IEEE Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131218351","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The processor receives initial data from a host PC, copies the data to memory, which can also be accessed from the reconfigurable logic, activates the analyzed devices that execute operations over the data, and collects the results from the devices that finally are transmitted to the host PC. Unrecyclable bottle caps can play the role of scatterers. The reflection and absorption coefficients of bottle caps vary according to their diameters and position and thus have a great effect on the reverberation time. Egg cartons have bubbly shape that helps to scatter the sound waves and redirect them so they may help as diffusers. Reflection and absorption coefficients for these non-traditional acoustical materials are measured using the standing wave tube method. The reverberation time method gives the average value of the absorption coefficient. From the obtained results, the frequency ranges for the proper use of these materials to fulfill the desired acoustical quality are discussed.","PeriodicalId":103316,"journal":{"name":"MELECON 2014 - 2014 17th IEEE Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122804606","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method aims to generate a constant maximum power defined over a given interval. The power set point is derived based on the mean wind speed predicted value. Since the wind speed turbulence component does not contribute to the average produced energy but only affects the power quality, the averaging period is chosen in order to eliminate the power fluctuation generated by this high frequencies component. This technique insures a better energy quality and retains a high system efficiency.","PeriodicalId":103316,"journal":{"name":"MELECON 2014 - 2014 17th IEEE Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-04-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123834834","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
