A positive stiffness spring is connected to a negative spring of equal magnitude in series to generate a high stiffness for on-board generated direct disturbances. The system is capable of isolating floor vibration as well due to the use of lower positive spring in the lower suspension. To reduce the load that the zero-power control system supports, a weight support mechanism is introduced. The proposed system paves the way for developing low cost vibration isolator with no power consumption in the steady-state. The mathematical model is analyzed such that it can generate infinite (high) stiffness for direct disturbance which is verified by experimental demonstrations.","PeriodicalId":103105,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126028159","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Their costs can be minimized through proper equipment sizing and load matching. This paper reports an investigation on the economic aspects of a typical hybrid energy system for remote area in India. For this purpose, the Jaunpur block of Uttaranchal state of India has been selected as remote area. The model is developed with the objective of minimizing cost function based on demand and potential constraints. The model has been optimized using LINDO software 6.10 version. From the economic analysis, the capital cost, cost of energy for different types of resources, optimized cost of hybrid energy system are determined. The variation of the optimized cost of energy with increase in the load to be satisfied by hybrid system has also been reported.","PeriodicalId":103105,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116117274","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Handicapped people could not fulfill their own task without difficulties. Therefore, medical and welfare robotics has become important. Power assist wheelchair robot has been effective in this field for many years. But, to a certain extend, there is a setback in development due to presence of caster wheels. Turning, overcoming obstacles and reversing will be easy without casters. Casterless \"wheelchair and its control on a straight line was presented in author's previous paper. Two wheel wheelchair robot on curved trajectory is proposed in this paper. Balancing of \"wheelchair body is proposed to achieve by controlling the inverted pendulum mounted on the wheelchair. Control equations of the system are derived using Lagrange equation of motion. Body controller is designed combining pendulum controller and wheel controller. Disturbance observer is used to cancel disturbance effects. Simulation was carried out to prove the applicability of the proposed system.","PeriodicalId":103105,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122763707","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sensors for this signal are easier to install and maintain and are also significantly inexpensive compared to those for the cutting forces, the vibration and the acoustic emission signals. A novel combination of signal processing strategies, such as line frequency estimation, demodulation, segmentation and exponential smoothing is proposed for on-line computation of appropriate features from the measured signals. Multiple Linear Regression model, formulated in terms of the training features, is then used to estimate tool wear. The developed model is validated on testing feature set for its predicting abilities. From analysis of the experimental data, it is seen that the proposed method compares favorably with those using measurements of cutting forces and Artificial Neural Networks. Finally, probabilistic worst case prediction limits of tool wear are presented.","PeriodicalId":103105,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"2012 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114546367","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Control of six-phase drives is based on the 30deg-phase-shifting between signals of two standard inverters, supplied from a single DC voltage source. Algorithms of synchronized PWM provide continuous synchronization of the output voltage waveforms of each inverter. The four-level phase voltage of six-phase drives has quarter-wave symmetry during control in this zone. Continuous and discontinuous versions of synchronized PWM, based on space-vector approach for determination of the pulse patterns, have been analyzed and compared by simulations of drive systems with low switching frequencies.","PeriodicalId":103105,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"102 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116994658","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One is experimental modal analysis, and the other is computational modal analysis. Experimental modal analysis is carried out by single input multiple output method and the modal parameters of computer motherboard are extracted by multiple reference point modal parameter extraction method in frequency domain. Computational modal analysis is fulfilled by finite element method (FEM). In order to reduce the FE model scale, the locally stiffened regions, such as CPU, PCI sockets, ISA sockets, chipset, memory sockets, were simplified as blocks. The material properties parameters of these regions are measured by electric-test experiments on samples removed from the motherboard. According to finite element (FE) modeling theory, the FE model of the motherboard is constructed, as well as computational modal analysis is performed. By comparison, the result from experimental modal analysis agrees well with those from computational modal analysis. Finally, the underlying resonance regions under different natural frequency are discussed, which will provide some references to optimize and design the structure of the motherboard, as well as to redistribute the components assembled on the motherboard reasonably.","PeriodicalId":103105,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128698804","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
