The aim of this paper was to review and analyze new educational legislation within the FA curriculum framework, which is necessary for providing teachers and healthcare professionals with a practical guide that guides teaching to train first responders in different school stages.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>A group of four experts with curricular experience at different educational levels, as well as in the field of FA, participated in this analysis. The methodology involved a consensus analysis approach on the content of the spanish Royal Decrees (RD) for Primary Education (RD 157/2022), Secondary Education (RD 217/2022), and Baccalaureate (RD 243/2022) that develop the curriculum of the Organic Law 3/2020 (LOMLOE).</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>In the analysis of the three RD, ten general concepts were identified: accident prevention; protocol Protect, Alert, Assist (PAS); 1-1-2 protocol; recovery position (PLS); cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR); automated external or semi-automatic defibrillator (AED); foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO); FA; transportation of the injured; and stroke. Throughout all educational stages, in twenty-seven instances appeared content explicitly related to accident prevention or the learning of FA.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>The current curriculum provides FA content from the age of eight-nine (3<sup>rd</sup> year of Primary Education). The objective of this study was to determine the factors associated with the abandonment of mothers or caregivers of premature infants in the first stage of the Kangaroo Mother Program of a Health Promoting Company (EPS) in the department of Antioquia (Colombia), between 2019 and 2021.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>An observational, cross-sectional, and analytical study was carried out, where information was collected on admissions to the program (N=1,344) between 2019 and 2021. The Chi-Square likelihood ratio test was performed with crude prevalence ratio, a generalized linear model of robust variance was applied with the adjusted prevalence ratio.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>When adjusting for dropout with the independent variables, a higher probability of dropout was evidenced: with respect to the year 2020 (PR 2.44, 95% CI: 1.94-3.08, p-value=0.0001), marital status alone with support (PR 1.60, 95% CI: 0.84-3.04, p-value=0. 147), primary school completed or incomplete (PR 1.48, 95% CI 1.11-1.97, p-value=0.006), monthly income less than the current legal monthly minimum wage (CLMMW) (PR 1.26, 95% CI: 1.00-1.59, p-value=0.004) and area of residence living outside Medellin (PR 1.25, 95% CI: 1.06-1.46, p-value=0.006).</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>The findings of this study can be very useful to carry out interventions in families belonging to Kangaroo Programs, with the aim of intervening risk factors associated with program dropout.</p>","PeriodicalId":94199,"journal":{"name":"Revista espanola de salud publica","volume":"98 ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-02-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC11575391/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139934953","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this paper was to analyze the epidemiological changes that occurred during the pandemic in eight infectious diseases with different epidemiological patterns: influenza, respiratory syncytial virus, rotavirus, pneumococcus, <i>Campylobacter</i>, non-typhoid <i>Salmonella</i>, gonorrhea and herpes zoster.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>From the Microbiological Surveillance Network, the time series of cases was traced from January 2017 to March 2023. Three periods were distinguished: reference, pandemic and beginning of the post-pandemic. The distribution by age and sex in these periods was analyzed. Incidence rates and rate ratios (RR) were calculated. These RRs and their 95% confidence intervals were estimated overall and by year of age in children under five years of age.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Statistically significant differences were found in the impact that the pandemic had on each of these diseases. Some, after a period of epidemic silence, have revealed an intense post-pandemic rebound. The post-pandemic global RT increased for influenza (2.4), RSV (1.9) and gonorrhea (3.1); rotavirus recovered its pre-pandemic level (1.07); and pneumococcus (0.84), <i>Campylobacter</i> (0.83) and <i>Salmonella</i> (0.60) decreased. In children under 5 years of age, the patterns were specific and heterogeneous for each disease.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>The impact of the pandemic is very different in these diseases. Pediatric and respiratory-transmitted seasonal viral infections are the ones that are most affected, but with different patterns of recovery to normality. Gastrointestinal bacterial infections suffer fewer variations, except for rotavirus. Gonorrhea do not interrupt its increasing trend seen in the pre-pandemic. Shingles show a slight post-pandemic increase. In this regard, HIV-related discrimination and stigma remain unaddressed in many European Union countries. Fighting HIV-related stigma has been one of the main priorities of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This commitment was reflected in the High Level Meeting entitled <i>HIV and Human Rights. Political action to achieve ZERO stigma</i>. This retrospective documentary case study of a scientific-medical manual reviews the contents of the book, highlighting its most important aspects. This almost 200-year-old book can be considered a valuable, early contribution to epidemiology, and a sign of the great concern in early 19th Europe about the subject of epidemics. The objective of this study was to evaluate the impact of the implementation of this application on the quality of the data collected.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>A descriptive study using deaths data with judicial intervention that occurred in Catalonia was carried out. The data of the period 2015-2018 and 2019 was compared with 2020. The percentages, with confidence intervals, of the causes of death that were not specific, according to different classifications, were calculated on the total of cases by period and territory.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The total percentage of non-specific deaths had decreased, not significantly, by 1.6 points between the period 2015-2018 and 2020. The same indicator between 2019 and 2020 had decreased by 13.4 points. The percentage of non-specific deaths from external causes showed significant drops between both periods and 2020. In general, the indicators displayed territorial differences.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>The roll-out of the IML-Web implies, compared to 2019, an improvement in the quality of the data. On the other hand, compared to the period 2015-2018, the data show a similar level of quality. This study aimed to estimate the sexual health knowledge and the information in this regard perceived by adolescents, as well as where it came from.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>A cross-sectional observational study was performed in students from two public high schools in Castilla-La Mancha who were surveyed about sexual knowledge. Comparisons were made by using the Student's t test or Mann Whitney U test, the Chi-square test (or Fisher's exact test) depending on the variables.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>248 students were included (68.1% from Madridejos and 31.9% from Herencia) with a mean age of 14.67±1.1 years. The 47.2% were women. Only 4.8% of the participants affirm to talk about sexuality with their parents. The 56% declared had consumed pornographic content, with a mean first access age of 12.8±1 years. Significant statistically differences were found between the information received in schools and in the familiar surroundings, being alcohol and drug intake, sexually transmitted infections (STI), and contraceptive methods more frequently treated at the educational centers. A 25% of the surveyed students who reported having performed sexual relations stated not having used condom.
