Previous studies are based only on norm values without a real control group. The present study aims to fill this gap. Materials and methods: 276 children participated in the study. MOBAK 1-4 was conducted with one subsample and DMT 6-18 with the other. Raw or Z-scores of the individual test items and the overall percentile rank are evaluated. An ANOVA was calculated for group comparison. Results: There is a significant difference in percentile rank between healthy and disabled children and between athletes and non-athletes. For the individual test tasks, significant differences between the groups are found with few exceptions. Conclusions: The differences can be attributed to both developmental disability and club affiliation. Whether perhaps the concept of school (e.g., school in motion, sports school) can have an influence should be examined in further study, since over the school all children can be reached.","PeriodicalId":93559,"journal":{"name":"Global journal of intellectual & developmental disabilities","volume":"148 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135528318","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It entails providing learning opportunities for all students by changing the system to fit the student [2]. It can have an immense effect on learners with disabilities because it may boost their academic and social development and skills, improve their self-esteem and well-being, allow them to be more participative, and providing them with the opportunity to attain their full potential.","PeriodicalId":93559,"journal":{"name":"Global journal of intellectual & developmental disabilities","volume":"149 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135673539","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Due to the global spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, telehealth has become a vital tool for delivering healthcare services remotely. However, in many developing countries, such as Pakistan, the lack of high-speed internet and infrastructure presents significant challenges for the implementation of telehealth. To address this issue, we developed “Sehat Agahi”, a telehealth platform that provides asynchronous interactions between therapists and caregivers in Pakistan. Our approach utilizes microlearning, focusing on teaching the most relevant skills tailored to the needs of the child-patients and the capacity of the caregivers. Bite-sized lessons are delivered in a flexible learning style, ensuring maximum engagement and retention of knowledge. We adopted a participatory action research methodology, which involved members of the marginalized community to understand the barriers and knowledge gaps in learning. To illustrate the potential of our approach, we present several hypothetical cases based on observations made during the participatory research.","PeriodicalId":93559,"journal":{"name":"Global journal of intellectual & developmental disabilities","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135807531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The roots of the FIM are long, and it is now a world-wide phenomenon emphasizing place of instruction rather than appropriateness and effectiveness of instruction. It has also been part of attempts to reform education for children with disabilities. Inclusive special education balances considerations of placement and instruction and is an alternative way forward that does not deny any student the right to appropriate education.","PeriodicalId":93559,"journal":{"name":"Global journal of intellectual & developmental disabilities","volume":"149 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135270368","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A qualitative approach with phenomenological design was employed to obtain the required information from regular and special needs education (SNE) teachers. The study involved six teachers who were selected purposively for having experience of teaching CWID. Data was collected using semi-structured interviews and analyzed thematically. Findings of the study revealed that the education of CWID focuses on helping them acquire some basic daily life skills such as dining, personal hygiene, greetings and basic academic skills related to counting, self-awareness and environmental recognition which involve naming body parts, objects and animals. It was found that the educational experiences organized by the teachers and the school benefited the children in developing independent life skills, communication, behavior, relationships with typical children and teachers. The study also found that teachers’ skill of teaching and relationship with the CWID was improved successively as a result of familiarity with the behavior and ways of learning acquisition among CWID. Lack of relevant training for teachers on inclusion of CWID, shortage of classroom and appropriate educational materials, lack of incentives for teachers and weak parental involvement in the education of their children were identified as outstanding problems in educating the CWID. It is recommended that skill-related trainings and incentive packages should be organized for teachers to compensate for the demanding work, basic instructional resources should be allocated, and parents should be encouraged and empowered to take part in the education of their children.","PeriodicalId":93559,"journal":{"name":"Global journal of intellectual & developmental disabilities","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135862489","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This results in an urgent need to develop their skills and to endow them with some compensatory strategies. Self-determination skills are considered one of the major skills needed by persons with intellectual disabilities in order to help them live independently. Self-determination skills are affected by a group of cultural and social variables, as well as other factors like the severity of the disability, the chronological age, gender, and others. Eventually, this mini review aims at shedding light on some important matters in related literature, clarifying some research points that were not tackled in it suggesting future studies that were not referred to in it, and drawing some recommendations related to the topic of the review.","PeriodicalId":93559,"journal":{"name":"Global journal of intellectual & developmental disabilities","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135593541","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is specifically true when the student with intellectual disabilities is mainstreamed into a general education classroom. The complex interactions between the classroom, the student, and the content creates serious difficulty in assessing a student’s understanding, particularly for students who are non-verbal or have deficits in communication. However, the last five years have ushered a revolution in computational power, brain mapping, wearable sensors use, large scale data collection, generative artificial intelligence, and physiological signal processing techniques e.g., the 4th industrial revolution","PeriodicalId":93559,"journal":{"name":"Global journal of intellectual & developmental disabilities","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136152037","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
