This systematic review summarizes and synthesizes evidence elucidating the association between e-learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and anxiety among university students. Methods: A systematic search from five databases (PubMed, Wiley, Science Direct, EBSCO, and Scopus) was done, with the last search conducted on the 30th of November 2021. Full-text English articles published from November 2019 to November 2021. Mostly cross-sectional study designs were included, excluding non-peer-reviewed documents and non-English language studies. The data was recorded in the data extraction form, and all seven articles were assessed for quality using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Checklist for Analytical Cross-Sectional studies. Results: The search yielded seven eligible articles, with a total of 12,481 participants. Four articles aimed to determine the direct association between e-learning and anxiety levels. While three aimed to identify e-learning as a potential stressor during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is associated with anxiety levels. Five different tools were used to measure anxiety in the chosen articles. Four out of seven articles reviewed in this systematic review concluded that e-learning was significantly associated with anxiety. The remaining three found no association. Several factors were found to be associated with anxiety due to e-learning: females, sex/gender minorities, younger students, medical students, and staying alone. Conclusions: University students reported mild to high levels of anxiety during the COVID-19 pandemic. The effect of e-learning on anxiety levels is determined by the diverse socio-demographic backgrounds. Internet connectivity and facilities also contributed to anxiety levels during e-learning. Limitations of this review include selection bias, small sample size, and the cross-sectional study designs, which could not establish a causal relationship. Evidence from stronger study designs is needed to confirm the association and establish a causation link of anxiety due to e-learning methods. © Journal of Public Health and Emergency. The post-COVID syndrome (PCS) is characterized by heterogeneous group of clinical manifestations which can frequently lead to a significant worsening in everyday life, working and social conditions. Methods: We prospectively examined in a cohort of patients discharged from our hospital \"Saint Andrea”, Vercelli, Italy, from 10th March 2020 to 15th January 2021, with COVID-19 diagnosis during the first wave of pandemic the prevalence and characteristics of PCS after 2 years of follow-up. Results: Overall included patients were 306;prevalence of PCS after 2 years was 43.8%;the fatigue assessment scale (FAS) evidenced that only 8.5% of patients suffered from a severe fatigue with important limitations. Most frequently observed symptoms/conditions were: fatigue (38.2%), breathlessness (19.3%), \"brain fog” (29.7%), sleeping disorders (28.8%), post-traumatic stress disorder (29.4%), anxiety (39.9%);only 7.2% of patients resumed the work without limitations or rest period. In multivariate analysis intensive care unit (ICU) admission [odds ratio (OR) =3.950;95% confidence interval (CI): 2.466–8.112;P=0.002], length of hospitalization (OR =1.855;95% CI: 1.248–5.223;P=0.004) and nosocomial infections (OR =2.556;95% CI: 1.443–5.292;P<0.001) were predictive of PCS at 2 years in the study population. Conclusions: After 2 years of follow-up, the 43.8% of enrolled subjects suffered from the PCS, but only the 8.5% with severe limitations in everyday life. We expect these data to highlight the importance of clinical and non-clinical aspect following the PCS in hospitalized patients. © Journal of Public Health and Emergency. The COVID-19 pandemic caused a lot of burden amongst HCWs, and as a result, many local HCWs in the Philippines experienced the brain drain phenomenon. In this study, a phenomenological approach to immerse in the lived experiences of Filipino medical technologists in the Philippines was utilized to determine their perceived job satisfaction during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Purposive sampling was utilized in this study. Thirteen registered Filipino medical technologists in any organizational position with at least three years of experience working in Department of Health, Philippines (DOH)-accredited private hospitals within the Metro Manila, Philippines were individually interviewed to express their definition of job satisfaction and factors affecting the degree of this phenomenon amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Following their voluntary enrollment in the study, demographics and employment history were obtained using a survey questionnaire. The interview consists of open-ended questions and sub-questions regarding their perceived job satisfaction. Colaizzi’s method was applied to obtain the essence of the phenomenon under investigation. Results: The richness of the information from the in-depth interview has made the researcher come up with three major themes entitled: the Force of Purpose, the Force of Pursuit, and the Force of People. Similar experiences were clustered into various subthemes: passion, service, practice, privilege, professional growth, opportunity, recognition, relationships, and teamwork. Finally, the researchers assimilated the themes and have come up with the simulacrum ‘The Fire Triangle of Job Satisfaction’ which represents forces for perceived job satisfaction amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines. Conclusions: The emerged job satisfaction of Filipino medical technologists is defined as the Force of Purpose to exemplify their purpose, the Force of Pursuit for their personal and professional pursuits, and the","PeriodicalId":92257,"journal":{"name":"Journal of public health and emergency","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43408450","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
