Disruptions caused by the pandemic, including those related to regulatory responses, led to significant shortages in animal protein. Industry professionals are exploring environmental disinfection technologies that can reduce the presence of pathogens in food production plants. A fundamental point of differentiation among the options is their ability to be operated continuously in occupied settings, such as livestock/poultry production facilities. This review examines Dry Hydrogen Peroxide (DHP), a continuously operating technology, and its efficacy against pathogens in the context of suitability for optimizing food safety and processing in animal agriculture.","PeriodicalId":92257,"journal":{"name":"Journal of public health and emergency","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135347801","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As demonstrated with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, the occupational environment impacts worker health in numerous ways, one of which may be through changes to the worker microbiome. Particularly, the agricultural environment presents both chemical and biological hazards (i.e., workplace environmental microbiome or envirobiome) that may affect the worker microbiome and ultimately worker health. The state of the science regarding the potential for the agricultural environment to impact worker microbiomes is presented herein.","PeriodicalId":92257,"journal":{"name":"Journal of public health and emergency","volume":"155 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135347808","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
