Built into the form factor of a standard wrist watch, the Chronos is ideal for wireless body area networks (WBANs), indoor localization, and activity detection. Many of these applications requires knowledge of the RF performance of the platform, which has never been characterized by Texas Instruments nor any third parties. Here, we provide experimental data characterizing the RF performance of the eZ430-Chronos watch in various configurations, including when worn by a person while sitting, standing, and reaching. The RF performance of the Chronos watch is compared with an Angelos Ambient wireless mote that uses a common type of ceramic chip antenna. Our results indicate the Chronos has excellent omnidirectionality and reasonably good RF gain in all tested configurations.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. Professional end users of such systems (e.g. physicians and production engineers) should have nearly real-time access to the records to provide relevant decisions without any difficulty of dealing with IT systems. Analysis and reasoning of professional end users' feedback lead helpful knowledge bases which can be used for future decision making situations such as diagnostics and predictions. This paper represents an overview of the cloud computing based conceptual framework for the integration of distributed knowledge sources in large scale heterogeneous enterprises such as grouped hospitals, clinic chains, production systems, supply chains and etc. The NoSQL database is used for providing a scalable data analytics. This framework facilitates accessible, efficient and always available knowledge bases for collaborative systems and reduces redundancy and costs by sharing the knowledge between individuals and experts. Three different application scenarios will be used to test and evaluate the efficiency of the proposed framework. Distributed product design and development, healthcare knowledge integration and providing readability in drug leaflets are target application domains of this research.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. To assess the current state of power electronics education, a study of curricular offering in power electronics in the U.S. universities is conducted. The study shows that there is a lack of course offering in semiconductor power devices with a lack of critical topics such as thermal management, temperature effects, reliability, power packaging, modeling, systems integration, and failure analysis. To remedy these deficiencies, new power electronics tracks/concentrations for undergraduate and graduate programs are proposed. The proposed curricular modifications are designed to be rigorous to meet the future needs of the power electronic industry, but flexible enough to be easily adopted by different institutions.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. There are a number of techniques that have been developed for the detection and prevention of JavaScript injection, and all have performance costs. While the performance issues of the JavaScript injection detection techniques have been mainly studied in running systems, we propose a simulation approach using UML SPT and JavaSim. The new approach not only reduces the cost for such analysis but also provides a framework for modeling injection detection techniques and analyzing the performance implications of design decisions.","PeriodicalId":92209,"journal":{"name":"IEEE International Conference on Electro Information Technology : [proceedings]. Inconsistent welds and insufficient nugget size are some of the problems in RSW. As a remedy to these problems a novel RSW control approach is proposed in this paper. The RSW control design is based on a thermal dynamical model. The controllers proposed are One-Step-Ahead, Weighted One-Step-Ahead, and Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID). The designed controllers force the nugget temperature profile to follow a desired reference temperature profile.
