Teenage pregnancies are becoming more common, and the Nabdam area continues to have low rates of use of contemporary contraceptive methods. These facts highlight the urgent need to address the needs of adolescents concerning their sexual and reproductive health. This study aims to investigate the factors impacting the Upper East Region of Ghana's Nabdam District's adoption of contemporary contraceptive methods. \u0000Methods: 261 older teenage girls from the Nabdam district, ages 15 to 19, were included in the study, which used a quantitative technique and a descriptive cross-sectional design. Respondents were chosen using a multiphase sample technique, and data were collected over the course of 10 working days using a standardized survey form. STATA Version 14 was utilized for data analysis. A significance criterion of p < 0.05 was applied to bivariate and logistic regression models to investigate any correlations between independent factors and outcome variables. \u0000Results: 52.1% of respondents said they have had their first sexual experience before turning 20. The oldest stated age at first sex was 19 years old, while the youngest was 10 years old. Additionally, 97.8% of respondents reported learning about contemporary contraception via a variety of sources, such as peers, instructors, health professionals, and radio media. Even with this knowledge, 48.7% of respondents thought using a contraceptive technique would provide 100% protection against getting pregnant, while 73.6% of respondents had never used any kind of birth control. Age (p< 0.001), educational attainment (p< 0.001), marital status (p< 0.001), peer influence (p< 0.001), place of residence (p< 0.001), religious affiliation (p< 0.018), consent from a sexual partner (p< 0.001), positive attitudes from healthcare providers (p < 0.001), and the availability of contraceptives (p < 0.001) were discovered to be linked to the usage of modern contraceptives. \u0000Conclusion: Although a sizable percentage of respondents showed awareness of contemporary contraceptive methods, low modern contraceptive usage was significantly correlated with several factors, including age, marital status, educational attainment, peer influence, partner consent, and the unfavorable attitudes of healthcare professionals. To tackle this problem, a community-based strategy emphasizing the advancement of enabling elements and the removal of obstacles is required. The Ghana Health Service could enhance its School Health Education Program (SHEP) by increasing informational sessions, organizing theatrical productions and debates, and recruiting peer educators as invaluable resources to share experiences and instruct their peers on sexuality, reproductive health issues, and the use of modern contraceptives","PeriodicalId":91191,"journal":{"name":"Advances in research","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139439651","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We establish the compact embedding of Sobolev spaces into continuous and Lebesgue spaces, as well as the continuity and compactness of embeddings between different Sobolev spaces. We also derive inequalities involving the Laplacian and gradients of functions, providing insights into their behavior on manifolds. These results contribute to our understanding of the interplay between function smoothness, continuity, and distribution on compact manifolds.","PeriodicalId":91191,"journal":{"name":"Advances in research","volume":"9 11","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-01-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139446598","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The different nanogel of LNH were synthesized using the Nanoprecipitation and Dispersion method, with variations in the drug-polymer ratio (1/0.03, 1/0.08, 1/0.12). The process parameters were carefully optimizing for enhance the efficiency of the synthesis. To achieve this, optimization studies were conducted using 3² FFD, employing the Design Expert Software Trial version 10.0.7. The total of 13 runs were generated to ensure comprehensive analysis and evaluation of the procedure. The selected independent variables included the concentration of Chitosan (R1) and Carbopol 934 (R2). The dependent variables, on the other hand, were particle size (P1), Polydispersity Index (P2), and % Drug release (P3), chosen in that order. By employing this optimization technique, one can acquire valuable information in a manner that is both efficient and cost-effective. This approach facilitates a deeper comprehension of the relationship between controllable independent variables and the performance and quality of the Nanogels being produced. \u0000Conclusion: The nanogels containing drugs were tested for drug release, PDI, and particle size. The standardized formulation, ER12, was achieved successfully. Consequently, it was determined that LNH can be formulated as nanogels that can maintain drug release for 24 hours. This shows potential for improved drug delivery in topical treatments, surpassing the effectiveness of traditional therapy formulations.","PeriodicalId":91191,"journal":{"name":"Advances in research","volume":"24 3","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138948359","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unlike the current fiat currencies, bitcoins offer a unique possibility to predict their price. Despite the fact that many individuals are investing in cryptocurrencies, little is known about their dynamic properties and predictability, which puts money at risk. The aim of this paper is to evaluate and compare different regression algorithms in order to forecast the price of most popular cryptocurrency – Bitcons. Secondary bitcoin historical data from Kaggle which features an updated daily record of 24 variables over a seven-year period ARE considered. Since the bitcoin data is so volatile, we implemented an effective pre-processing of data in order to have a better prediction result. The different models applied include – Linear Regression, Ridge Regression, LASSO Regression and Elastic Net Regression model.  However, elastic net performed better with an RMSE of 0.0228 without showing signs of overfitting.","PeriodicalId":91191,"journal":{"name":"Advances in research","volume":"17 10","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139010669","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is prevailing in the general population and the aggravated condition of fatigue is named Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. This syndrome has a negative impact on the individual’s quality of life and it can lead to functional incapacity. Despite decades of research, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome remains a mysterious disease that needs to be highlighted. \u0000Objective: To describe biological aspects of fatigue regarding its definition, biological origin, the main etiologies of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and its relation with the circadian cycle, as well as the main methods for measurement, diagnosis, complementary tests and treatment. \u0000Method: It is a narrative review, performed from 2019 to 2022, using the PubMed/MEDLINE database and a manual search for studies referred in selected articles from authors with notorious knowledge and specialized groups in the area. It was performed a combination of several search terms added to Fatigue and Fatigue Syndrome, Chronic through Boolean Operators AND, OR and NOT. Scientific articles that involved studies in humans were included in the research. The articles were available in full version for free, in Portuguese, English and Spanish, with no restriction related to the period of publication. The articles were selected by reading of titles and abstracts. The ones that did not fit the aim of this study were excluded. The remaining articles were read in full and selected according to their relevance and contribution to the topic. \u0000Results: Fatigue can be considered peripheral, physical, mental, intellectual and emotional, but there is no consensus regarding its definition. Its main biological origin is related to cytokines, however, fatigue’s measurement is still mostly conducted by self-reports of affected patients. There is no objective marker consistently associated to fatigue.  Regarding Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, its etiology is still not very well-established, but it was observed that genetic, epigenetic, immunological, infectious, psychosocial, psychiatric and neurological factors can contribute to it. Since fatigue is multidimensional and multifactorial, it is important to associate multiple instruments for its investigation. A potent strategy for the measurement of fatigue is using instruments adapted to the realities, extensively tested in different populations considering socio-economic-cultural aspects. These instruments assess the cognitive function in order to measure several variables and when associated they can increase the accuracy of the investigative instruments. The treatments available include cognitive-behavioral therapy, gradual exercises, immunological treatment, corticosteroids and antidepressants, but they do not guarantee a full remission of symptoms in an isolated way.  \u0000Conclusion: Even though there are well-defined biological factors it still lacks a precise marker for the meas","PeriodicalId":91191,"journal":{"name":"Advances in research","volume":"5 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138585627","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Considering the need to understand the processes that act on these structures and the difficulty often encountered by students in visualizing the action of water and its movement in the soil, this paper aims to present the practical activities developed in the Soil Mechanics Department of the Civil Engineering Course of the State University of Minas Gerais - João Monlevade, Brazil, which dealt with the movement of water in soil structures and discussed the design and stability aspects of these. One of objectives was to develop the student's protagonism through direct involvement in the design and execution of the physical  model of earth and tailing dams. This topic is crucial for geotechnical engineering and even more so for the region where João Monlevade is located, as several iron mining companies use tailings dams and earth structures. The execution of the model by the students was preceded by theoretical discussions on aspects such as the Darcy´s law, hydraulic head, the types and characterization of soil and tailings, pore pressure and your influence of the safety factor. These activities were developed in 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023. As a result, a learning gain was achieved because the models were developed on a small scale by the students, who personally checked the variation of the parameters of the materials and water in the experiments.","PeriodicalId":91191,"journal":{"name":"Advances in research","volume":"38 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138600570","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
