The method is given to students in grades three to six at SDN Jambangan during the Kampus Mengajar program. The CLT method is divided into four, namely the Communicative English teaching method, the practice question method, the question and Answer Session method, the guessing game method. Further, when learning is carried out, it was designed to make communicative activities such as games so that students don't feel bored. This learning process can provide opportunities for students to improve their language skills by using communicative English teaching methods. The findings showed that it is very helpful for educators to provide what is the right method to help students in dealing with existing problems and make learning fun. The students were active during the teaching and learning process. They did the teacher’s instruction cooperatively. Therefore, it can be concluded that learning can be carried out well and feels light when using the right stages. This research also helps the researcher to gain new experiences, which are very valuable experiences for life.","PeriodicalId":90868,"journal":{"name":"International journal of quantitative research in education","volume":"206 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89715857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study aimed to explore the types of questioning strategies employed by teachers during online reading classes and identify the factors that contribute to the frequent use of a specific approach. The study used observation checklists and interview guidelines based on Bloom's taxonomy and Wragg and Brown's questioning strategies to gather data from second-year English language students enrolled in an online reading class. The research findings revealed that to engage students, evaluate their comprehension, and ensure alignment with the textbook material the teacher primarily utilized \"Understand\" and \"Analyze\" questions, along with directed, distributed, responded, and sequenced strategies. The teacher also utilized Zoom's chat box feature to ask questions and enable students to provide direct answers. The results of this study demonstrate the importance of effective questioning techniques in online learning environments. The teacher's use of a variety of questioning strategies had a positive impact on the students' ability to acquire knowledge, demonstrating that a diverse range of strategies can help students achieve deeper levels of understanding. The research findings have important implications for the education sector as it provides insights into effective teaching strategies that can help promote student engagement and enhance their learning outcomes.","PeriodicalId":90868,"journal":{"name":"International journal of quantitative research in education","volume":"164 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"76939863","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There were 29 students in a university level involved in this research. Mix methods was used to gain data in which observation, questionnaire, and interview were implemented. Observations analyzed qualitatively by using descriptive analysis in detail information. The questionnaire was further analyzed by calculating percentages in Likert scale questionnaire. For interview section, researchers developed the question based on students answers from google form and transcribed all information and responses into English language. The findings show that students assess translanguaging from 2 aspects, positive and negative. Although they have a positive view of translating in certain situations, they do not often use this pedagogy because it is considered less efficient. This research emphasized that students can gain the good impact of translanguaging if they have a deep understanding how to practice it correctly in language classroom.","PeriodicalId":90868,"journal":{"name":"International journal of quantitative research in education","volume":"30 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"88181676","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research aims to explore school strategies to restore public trust through improving the quality of education. The methods used are the critical method, dialectical method, and scholastic method. This research is included in library research. The author tries to find data, and theories related to the issues raised in various literature or references that the author finds and then compares them using the method mentioned above. The research results show that management misconceptions are caused by various deficiencies ranging from lack of understanding to low managerial competence of school principals, which has an impact on the low quality of output, resulting in low public enthusiasm for the school. The efforts made by the school are expected to be comprehensive, both internal and external, including, 1) strengthening the learning community in the school. This community can be used as an effort to strengthen the competency of all human resources in the school, starting from the principal, teachers, and education staff. ; 2) creating a comfortable school ecosystem, comfortable not only for students but also for teachers and educational staff at the school; 3) collaboration with people and society, an effort that is no less important than the others, because this effort is like a double-edged sword, the context is to work together to improve the process and understanding of the quality measures of educational outcomes.","PeriodicalId":90868,"journal":{"name":"International journal of quantitative research in education","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135600633","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The researchers formulated two main questions in this study: (1) What metaphors are used in online news articles during COVID-19? (2) What are the function and types of these metaphors used in online news articles during COVID-19? To answer the research question, the researchers utilized a qualitative design. A corpus of five news organizations published from March 2020 to February 2021 was gathered to evaluate the metaphors used in online news articles. The needed data was analyzed and extracted using AntConc and the frameworks Critical Metaphor analysis by Charetris-Black (2004) and the Schema Theory by Frederic Bartlett (1932). The study substantiates that “COVID-19: A pandemic of neglect” and ‘COVID-19 is an Enemy” are extremely used in the Philippine online news article. Albeit, other metaphors are also used, such as COVID-19 is Fresh, COVID-19 is a Challenge, and COVID-19 is Contagious and Widespread. The findings also reveal that the metaphors used in online news articles reflect the types of structural metaphor and function as cognitive function. Furthermore, the used metaphors prove that news writers are straightforward in delivering COVID-19 news primarily on the governments handling the pandemic. This study employed qualitative methods. In this study, the researcher assessed the translation technique of 102 non-standard English words from the script for The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. Molina and Albir's notion of translation procedures was utilized by the researchers. In this study, the researcher found 9 kinds of translation techniques such as literal, established equivalent, adaptation, borrowing, linguistic compression, generalization, reduction, linguistic amplification, particularization. Moreover, the dominant translation technique is literal translation technique used 35 times with percentage 54,61%% from the data, followed by established equivalent 18,44% used 13 times, adaptation with 7,15% used 5 times, borrowing with 7,15% percentage from the data used 5 times, linguistic compression with percentage 3,57% used 3 times, generalization used 2 times with percentage 2,75%, reduction used 2 times with percentage 2,75%, linguistic amplification used 1 time with percentage 1,79%, and particularization percentage 1,79% used 1 time. Since the script for the Fast and the Furious movie contains many words and phrases that are not considered standard English, it makes sense that the translators would prefer the literal translation process, which includes providing an exact word-for-word counterpart. Because it uses an equivalence-based approach rather than a literal one, this method is more flexible than literal translation","PeriodicalId":90868,"journal":{"name":"International journal of quantitative research in education","volume":"21 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83564719","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is because students must understand how to produce good and correct sentences to pronounce. To produce a sentence, they must master a lot of vocabulary and master how to pronounce it. In addition, to be able to master speaking skills, students must also have self-confidence. This research aimed to know the problems encountered by Non-English Department students in speaking English and their causes and to find out the problem-solving encountered by non-English majoring students in speaking English. The researcher used descriptive qualitative research with a questionnaire and an interview to collect the data. The results of this study indicate that almost all students find problems (linguistic and nonlinguistic) in speaking English. Linguistic problems that are often found are a lack of grammar, poor pronunciation, and the last is lack of vocabulary. The non-linguistics are anxiety, shyness & lack of confidence. The factors causing the problem of speaking English in this study were low motivation, habits & mother tongue, lack of practice & opportunity, and fear of making mistakes. To solve the problem of speaking English is to improve vocabulary and pronunciation skills. Some ways to improve it are by listening and singing English songs, watching English movies to understand English sentences, and using Google Translate to look up the meaning of difficult words and how to pronounce them. In addition, to improve their speaking skills, sometimes students also practice speaking in English with their friends or independently.","PeriodicalId":90868,"journal":{"name":"International journal of quantitative research in education","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75446709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
