Heidegger delves into early Greek thought to reveal people’s understanding of nature before the deviation between logos (λόγος) and nature (φύσις). He argues that the light of Being flashed at the beginning of Western thought and then immediately vanished. The consequence of the concealment of Being was the formal opening of the path of Western metaphysics centered on rationality, which was taken as the path of wisdom. Western metaphysics ultimately led humanity to the realm of nihilism. Therefore, one possible way to address the nihilism problem caused by rationality is to return to early Western thought (pre-Socratic period), explore the original meaning of logos and nature, re-understand what wisdom is, and gain insight in wisdom to deal with nihilism.","PeriodicalId":90554,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42181921","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The family unit, when functioning well, represents a responsible and healthy environment for child development. Despite the importance given to this relational nexus, evidence from the MENA region remains limited in this regard, especially among the adolescent age group. Through quantitative evidence collected from adolescents themselves, this article explores the role that parents play in adolescent protection, investigating the risk and protective factors before and during Covid-19 in Qatar. Periodical comparative analysis is meant to provide scientific measurement on how Covid-19 positively and negatively impacted parental functions and adolescents’ attitudes. Results confirm enhanced quality parenting, reduced domestic violence, better relational ties and parental emotional support, yet evidence raises concern on digital addiction and fatherhood engagement.","PeriodicalId":90554,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41663342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is, however, a dire paucity of empirical evidence from which policymakers can draw inferences to make informed reform decisions. Such evidence needs to detail the economic cost as well as consumers’ preferences for reforms. Using orthogonal coding to generate three attributes and a full factorial design with all three attributes having three levels each to generate 27 possible scenarios with only 9 scenarios presented to each respondent to reduce the cognitive burden, conditional logistic regression was used to estimate McFadden’s discrete choice model in a discrete choice experiment conducted in Nigeria. McFadden’s R2 value of 0.5346 indicates that the model is well fitted. The Chi-squared statistic of 1057.13 shows that the estimated model has the required explanatory power and statistical significance for the attributes with confidence level set at 95%. Results show that respondents are willing to pay for health insurance reform, opting for health insurance types with attributes that they deem would meet their needs, rather than settle for status quo health insurance. Respondents were willing to pay as high as 24% of annual income to access insurance types that have comprehensive benefits package, which indicates that risk pooling could potentially fund universal health insurance in Nigeria.","PeriodicalId":90554,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science studies","volume":"27 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"83609390","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main variables for the comparative analysis are the opinions of surveyed students for three academic terms and the perception of motivation as an engine for learning. The data used for this article comes from undergraduate students at a Mexican university, Tecnológico de Monterrey, during January 2019 up to June 2020. The virtual activity designed for fostering motivation for is called: Welcome to Ur, Mesopotamia. The activity consists of a recreation of the ancient city of Ur using 3D animation and virtual reality goggles. Each student was able to travel back on time and explore by foot the streets, temples, and palaces of the Mesopotamian city. The courses where the educational experiences took place, \"Sustainable Cities and Communities\" and \"Citizenship and Democracy\" reported higher satisfaction and motivation to learn that those courses that did not use the virtual tool. While reaching the age of majority typically signals the end of compulsory childhood institutionalization, age qualifications may deny ministration to young adults whose adolescence was marked by poverty, trauma, violence, or emotional deprivation. To investigate the need for a seamless transition into young adulthood, we interviewed 12 female residents housed in two “transitional centers” (TC) in Armenia. The respondents, while eager for emotional and fiscal autonomy, perceived their previous RCI as integral to their emotional development and thus recognized the need for ancillary care to prepare them for independent living. These findings suggest that Armenia’s TC offer a critical bridge between adolescence and adulthood, providing an environment within which socially vulnerable young adults can prepare for emotional, financial, and intellectual independence. Countries with significant orphan populations should consider integrating a TC component into their continuum of care model to assure that their most vulnerable children populations receive support throughout young adulthood.","PeriodicalId":90554,"journal":{"name":"International journal of social science studies","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49213778","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The results of this research show that in this communication network, there is a structure which is an arrangement of different elements that can be identified through the pattern of communication flows in a system. By knowing the structure of this communication network, several patterns of communication and interaction can be seen, so that the roles of each individual in a group can be identified.
