Through this paper we will discuss a case of accident that was turned into murder (i.e. Under Section 302 of Indian Penal Court) because the family members of the deceased alleged that the deceased was murdered and then dragged by tying to a vehicle to dispose off the body and to destroy the evidences. In this paper we discuss how this sensational case was solved by the scientists of Forensic Science Laboratory, Haryana through the reconstruction of crime scene by analyzing crime scene appearance, the locations and positions of the physical evidence, and the injuries to the deceased. This involved scientific crime scene investigation, interpretation of patterned evidence at the scene, laboratory testing of the physical evidence, systematic study of related case information, and the logical formulation of a theory.

Age determination also has become increasingly important in forensic science for both living and remains. Vertebrae are one of the least studied bones for age and sex identification; however, its presence at a death scene is the most common of all. The 12th thoracic vertebra (T12) is easily identifiable in a disarticulated skeleton, due to its unique morphology. Identification depending on radiological techniques is an emerging valuable tool in forensic science field. \u0000Methodology: The study was conducted on 123 Egyptian patients; 61 males and 62 females and the age range was from 10 to 64 years. The subjects used in this study were patients who had a need for Computer Tomography (CT) scan of the abdomen for several medical reasons in the Radiology Departments of Cairo University and the CT was done for them after giving informed consent. None of the vertebrae used possessed any pathological condition and vertebrae with moderate to severe degenerative changes and osteophyte formation were excluded from this study. Fifteen linear measurements were taken for T12 thoracic vertebrae. All the procedures for this study were approved by the ethical committee of faculty of medicine, Cairo University. Microsoft excel 2010 was used for data entry and the statistical package for social science (SPSS version 21) was used for data analysis. \u0000Results: Males were statistically significant larger than females in all measurements of T12, and sex was identified from T12 at accuracy rate 88.6%. In addition, there was significant positive correlation between age and most of measurements, however, this correlation wasn't strong. \u0000Conclusion: Computed tomography of T12 vertebrae is a useful tool for sex and age Identification of unknown; however, further studies are needed for proper evaluation of its role on age estimation.

However, little attention has been given to the \u0000 post-mortem blood and tissue metal levels compared to reference values of living population. Therefore, this study \u0000 was designed to determine the post-mortem blood levels of arsenic (As), selenium (Se), silver (Ag), cadmium (Cd), \u0000 antimony (Sb), mercury (Hg), thallium (Ti) and lead (Pb) and to compare their levels with the measured reference \u0000 values from a living population sample. Moreover, the relationship between the post-mortem blood metal levels and \u0000 the post-mortem interval (PMI) was investigated. Two hundreds and twelve post-mortem femoral blood samples \u0000 were collected from autopsied cases at the Forensic Medicine centre in Dammam Saudi Arabia. In addition, a living \u0000 population sample of 200 subjects was recruited from the same region. The blood metal levels were measured by \u0000 inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). The calculated means for blood As, Se, Ag, Cd, Sb, Hg, \u0000 Ti and Pb were 2.7, 10.16, 3.38, 12.06, 1.61, 5.49, 1.33, and 13.5 μg/dl respectively. Blood Cd, Hg and Pb levels \u0000 were significantly higher in the post-mortem samples compared to the living population with p values 0.001, 0.001 \u0000 and 0.02 respectively. Moreover, there were statistically significant differences among post-mortem blood Cd and \u0000 Pb levels with regard to post-mortem interval (PMI) which could be attributed to post-mortem redistribution (PMR).

The need for this assistance has never been greater because our forensic science laboratories continue to be overwhelmed with unprecedented demands for DNA and other forensic analysis while keeping up with the latest advances. The Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) estimated that publicly funded crime labs received an estimated 3.8 million forensic requests in 2014 and completed 3.6 million requests that year [1]. BJS also reported that at the end of 2014, U.S. crime labs had an estimated backlog of 570,100 requests for forensic services with 38% of these labs outsourcing one or more types of services. Because each ‘forensic request’ can involve multiple items and multiple tests per item, the number of individual tests is staggering; delays in processing evidence ultimately delays the administration of justice.

Injuries such as these not only increase the risk of involvement with the criminal justice system for the individual, but also may make it more difficult to navigate within the legal system. Unfortunately, public defenders may not be familiar with the challenges of TBI their clients face. The aim of this study is to explore the familiarity of public defenders with the signs and symptoms of TBI. Additionally, the study investigates the degree to which public defenders recognize the prevalence and impacts of TBI in the legal system. The study consisted of a 14-item electronic survey distributed to all public defenders in Minnesota. Results found that public defenders varied widely in their familiarity with TBI’s symptoms, prevalence, and impacts in the legal system. Although the majority of respondents had not received any advanced training on TBI, most believed such training would be beneficial for their clients. This study clearly shows a need for more training on cognitive, memory, and behavioural impairments experienced by defendants who have been impacted by TBI

Neonaticide happens globally. The characteristics and motives of Chinese neonaticide are unknown. This study is committed to outline Chinese neonaticide offenders’ characteristics and primary motives. Neonaticide cases in Shanghai Public Security Bureau (SPSB) were reviewed and analyzed. All offenders were domestic migrants with normal mental status. Neonaticide offenders’ common characteristics such as biological mother, young age, immaturity, being unmarried, low socioeconomic status and having an unwanted pregnancy were confirmed. 18 unmarried offenders were resident in Shanghai under 2 years. Their first sexual experience occurred around coming to Shanghai. The offenses occurred under 2 years after coming to Shanghai due to the stigma of illegitimacy. 2 married offenders were resident in Shanghai over 5 years. They both already had children. They committed neonaticides due to the stigma of giving birth to a female newborn and removal of a burden. Migration, life changes and separation from original families were verified and could be seen as a main factor in the neonaticides. First sexual experience, unwanted pregnancy and neonaticide occurred in unmarried young women under this background. Unwanted baby was primary motive. Unmarried young women with low socio-economic status and recent migration who got unwanted pregnancies are more prone to commit neonaticide. Basic medical care and interventions should be extensively spread in them to improve human beings’ well-beings.
