Traditionally, continuing care addiction has consisted of individual monitoring sessions, group therapy sessions and assistance to self-help groups. Recently, the development of health care based on new technology has allowed an improvement on health outcomes. In this context various strategies framed in telemental health, are discussed; they offer the opportunity to complement treatment programs.","PeriodicalId":90204,"journal":{"name":"Journal of behavioral health","volume":"6 1","pages":"103-106"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70809051","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Treatments for the adverse effects associated with contaminant exposure, however, are largely unknown, making primary prevention the most effective strategy for protecting children [2]. Often, this line of research focuses on raising parents’ awareness to the environmental health issue through education but neglects social and cognitive barriers in some parents that could negate the benefits of an effective prevention program [1].","PeriodicalId":90204,"journal":{"name":"Journal of behavioral health","volume":"6 1","pages":"36-42"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70809251","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The purpose of this review study is to assess the effectiveness of the Active Science program in promoting PA and science learning in a variety of settings including in school, afterschool, and the outdoors. Methods: Active Science encompasses PA within exploratory-type educational experiences to create “active education” environments. This approach of using PA as a component of academics is not unique to Active Science , and others have successfully demonstrated beneficial effects on activity and academics. This study reviewed the results of the Active Science program in three different settings, in school, afterschool, and an outdoor education environment. Results: Regardless of the setting, the results supported that children had significantly higher PA levels and improved science scores when they participated in Active Science. Conclusion: The Active Science approach is one way to get students physically active while promoting science learning during the school day, ASPs, and outdoor education environments.","PeriodicalId":90204,"journal":{"name":"Journal of behavioral health","volume":"71 1","pages":"1"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70809704","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objective: It was aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of existing literatures reporting suicide rates, and other suicide metrics, in Bangladesh. Method: Search was done in PubMed, PubMed Central, Google Scholar & banlajol with searching key words ranging date from January 2000 to December 2015. Finally 13 articles were selected for review. Result: The average suicide rate was found 39.6/100000 population/year and most common method is hanging and poisoning with most prevalent age group is age under 40 years. More common in female, low socioeconomic condition with low literacy, in married persons, in housewives and discord with spouse is the most common associated factor. It’s a criminal offence in Bangladesh; source of information is mainly police and forensic reports and nationwide survey is yet to conducted and there is no suicide surveillance strategy. Conclusion: Suicide is a neglected and under attended public health problem in Bangladesh with few research and paucity of literature. Nationwide survey conduction and establishment of national suicide surveillance is now a time demanded step.","PeriodicalId":90204,"journal":{"name":"Journal of behavioral health","volume":"6 1","pages":"66-69"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70809237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Internet gaming is one of the most popular sources of entertainment for people in all ages, but excess playing this game causes negative consequences including video game addiction. IGD is not currently a recognized diagnosis in the Dignostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders-5 (DSM-5). However, IGD has been noted to warrant further research for possible future inclusion in the DSM. The excessive usage in the majority of cases was purely symptomatic and was highlighted how the subject used the internet or computer to counteract other problems. IGD strongly resembles substance and gambling addictions. Such characteristics include tolerance, withdrawal, and social and occupational neglect resulting from increased time invested in video game use and acquisition. We report a case of 20-year old student who used to addict internet video gaming to counteract his stress and social problem.","PeriodicalId":90204,"journal":{"name":"Journal of behavioral health","volume":"7 1","pages":"41-44"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70809365","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: Ten participants wore 2 accelerometers concurrently while engaging in 3 treadmill-based laboratory test conditions, including a 4.8 km/h athletic short, 4.8 km/h blue jeans, and 9.6 km/h athletic shorts and one free-living test condition. Accelerometer 1 was attached in the traditional method (belt-worn at the waist) while accelerometer 2 was placed in the front thigh pocket. Questionnaire reported compliance beliefs pertaining to a 7-day wear time protocol were also obtained. Results: All participants self-reported that the pocket option would increase the convenience of study compliance. In laboratory testing, small mean differences were observed for condition 1, 2, and 3, respectively. Larger incongruity in central tendency was identified for vector magnitude and step counts for all laboratory based testing. High agreement was observed for all Bland-Altman analyses. Of practical importance, free-living assessment provided high agreement (≥ 90%) and correlation (r≥.758) between monitors at the two locations, with estimates of time spent in MVPA (r=.962). Conclusion: Results from free living evaluation are promising. Due to the mixed findings across the evaluated metrics for laboratory tests, future research is needed to determine the suitability of utilizing the pocket as a potential site for accelerometer monitoring.","PeriodicalId":90204,"journal":{"name":"Journal of behavioral health","volume":"6 1","pages":"93-98"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70809043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
