Their proper compliance to the epidemic would lead to the successful management of the epidemic. The aim of this study was to assess the medical residents' knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) about influenza (H1N1) and its vaccination in H1N1 provincial referral hospitals in Tabriz, Iran. Methods: Using cross-sectional descriptive design, this study was carried out from 25 January to 30 March 2015 (during epidemic). All the medical residents in three H1N1 provincial referral hospitals (220 individuals) in Tabriz were included. A valid questionnaire was used for data collection. Results: Over 51% of the participants were male. The mean score of knowledge and attitude about H1N1 was 53.5 and 62.2, respectively. There was no significant difference (P-value> 0.05) between the residents who had uptake influenza vaccine and students who refused in Knowledge level. Vaccination rate was calculated as 73%. “Fear of influenza infection” (34.6%) and “health facilities recommendation” (30.8%) were the main reasons of vaccination. Conclusions: Health authorities and medical universities must employ proper policies to improve the medical residents’ knowledge about H1N1. Also they must provide vaccination facilities in workplaces to increase the vaccination rate.

Women are often the main CGs in the family. The level of burden of care and medication adherence in mentally ill women CGs is unexplored. Aims: This study aimed to find out the levels of burden of care and its relationship with medication adherence in remitted mentally ill women CGs. Materials and Methods: Cross-sectional study, 100 remitted mentally ill women were recruited as per the selection criteria and assessed with sociodemographic pro forma, Zarit CG Burden Interview, and Morisky Medication Adherence Scale. Results: More than half of the participants experienced significant burden (27% with mild-moderate burden, 19% with moderate to severe burden, and 7% with severe burden). 39% of the participants had high adherence, while the rest had medium to low adherence (36% medium and 25% low). Caregiving burden was more among employed ( P = 0.005), married ( P = 0.035), rural residence ( P = 0.050), living with spouse ( P = 0.050), and poor knowledge of treatment options ( P = 0.000). In multiple linear regression analysis, role strain had a significant association with medication adherence ( P = 0.002). Conclusions: Significant caregiving burden and low medication adherence are common in remitted mentally ill women CGs. Role strains are positively associated with medication adherence.

It can be a common symptom of several psychiatric disorders. Pain-related issues are heterogeneous and often underestimated or misinterpreted, with the result that psychiatric interventions, which might have been beneficial from the outset, are often delayed or requested only as a last measure. There are several common psychiatric disorders accompanying and complicating the experience of pain that warrant clinical attention and that can be the focus of psychiatric treatment. These include depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, somatoform disorders, substance-related disorders and personality disorders. Complex and disabling pain conditions often require comprehensive pain treatment programs, involving interdisciplinary and multimodal treatment approaches. The pharmacological treatment of pain is complex and implies a variety of different compounds, from opioids to psychotropic medications like antidepressants and anticonvulsants. This case report explores the mutual and reciprocal influence of Psychotropic. There are many roles that the psychiatrist can perform in the assessment and treatment of the patients with pain.

Nevertheless, there is a paucity of research for the use of motivational interviewing in weight management groups and research in the area often lacks sufficient 'treatment fidelity', failing to accurately report the consistency, style, content and competence of those delivering the intervention. The current study examined the efficacy of the Small Changes weight management programme comparing motivational interviewing in groups to treatment as usual. \u0000Methods - \u0000Those in the motivational interviewing group intervention received 12 sessions of 2 hours, which comprised 9 group and 3 one to one sessions over 12 months. The motivational interviewing group were treated in a motivational interviewing consistent manner throughout; for example, change talk was identified, evoked and strengthened via specific micro-skills such as open questions, affirmations and reflections. In the treatment as usual group, subjects also received 9 group and 3 one to one sessions over a 12 month period. The treatment as usual group were required to self-select a 'Small Change' at each meeting with the facilitator. All subjects were measured at five time points: baseline, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months, outcome measures included: weight, body mass index, body-fat percentage, waist to hip ratio, number of minutes of daily physical activity, fruit and vegetable consumption and feelings of well-being. A treatment fidelity framework was applied to the motivational interviewing groups' intervention to ensure a consistent, reliable and reproducible approach. \u0000Results - \u0000After 12 months, improvements were shown for all variables measured in the motivational interviewing groups; only the composite measure of physical and psychological wellbeing improved statistically in the treatment as usual groups, . When comparing approaches: significant differences were found between motivational interviewing and treatment as usual in favour of the motivational interviewing intervention for mean percentage change in weight and body mass index but not for % body fat, waist to hip ratio, fruit and vegetable consumption, feelings of well-being or physical activity levels. The retention rates in the motivational interviewing groups were higher with 64% of subjects returning for the 12 month outcome measures versus 14% in the treatment as usual groups. \u0000Conclusions - \u0000This study indicates improvements to weight loss outcome measures after 12 months for an intervention implementing motivational interviewing for weight management groups when compared to an existing weight management programme. Future research is needed to establish the empirical basis for the use of motivational interviewing for weight management groups, with heterogeneity of dose and treatment fidelity as essential features. \u0000Keywords : Motivational interviewing, treatment fidelit

One reason for the heightened number of HIV cases in South Africa is due to risk associated with heterosexual transmission. Objective: The present study explores the relationship between sexual behaviors of inmates; self- reported marital status, and locality of where inmates were incarcerated. Method: This cross-sectional descriptive study of inmates, formed part of a larger longitudinal investigation of South African inmates. The study sites were four prisons in KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga provinces. Odds ratios were used to examine associations between the dichotomized correlates and the outcome measure. Results: About 357 male inmates participated in the study. The majority of participants were Nguni speakers (96%). For the entire sample, two outcomes (being responsible for a pregnancy and willingness to have a HIV test) achieve a screening level of significance (i.e., P < .003). Married inmates in the KwaZulu-Natal prisons were 3 times more likely to have heard of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) prior (p < .007) and 2.49 more likely to have had a STI than non-married inmates. Conclusion: Findings accent the public health value of understanding the relationship between socio-demographic variables, cultural influences and ethnic practices and its implications for HIV/STI prevention among inmate populations.

The aims of this study were to investigate the history of incidence of BP among women of child bearing age and how pregnancy-related BP is being managed among this population. METHODS: A survey of 2,187 pregnant women attending ante-natal clinics in selected Medical facilities in Ibadan and Ogbomoso, Nigeria was carried out over a period of 2 years and 3 months using pre-tested close-ended questionnaire. Data obtained was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential statistics. RESULTS: One thousand and eight (52.5%) of the 1919 respondents had back pain during their current pregnancy. The mean age of those with and without back pain was 26.8 ± 5.3 and 27.1 ± 5.4 years respectively. Mean number of pregnancy was higher among respondents with back pain 2.6 ±1.50 than those without back pain 2.4±1.40. Incidence of BP was highest during current pregnancy 52.5%, during menses 341(17.8%) and it was least post-delivery 69(3.6%). Analgesics (50 .4%) and physical approaches (49. 6%) were nearly equally utilized in managing BP among the studied population. Side lying (78.2%) was the most preferred therapeutic position for relieving BP and supine lying was the least favored (22.6 %,) among the respondents in relieving BP. Standing up and walking around was found useful to relieve BP induced or aggravated by prolonged sitting or maintenance of static posture. CONCLUSIONS: Back pain is most prevalent during pregnancy and also troublesome during menses among women of child bearing age. Analgesic and postural modifications were the two major interventions utilised in managing BP among the pregnant women in this study. More treatment options needs to be promoted for holistic management of pregnancy-related back pain.
