It is usually self-limiting; in a small minority of cases chronic CSR may develop with the potential for progressive RPE atrophy and permanent visual loss. Treatment is challenging as focal laser can cause scarring and visual loss. Photodynamic therapy is not always effective. The Supra 577TM nm yellow micro pulse laser (Quantel medical) has been recently used for chronic CSR treatment. It is highly selective localizing the effect on the RPE, whilst sparing the fovea. The purpose of our study is to assess the efficacy and safety of the Supra 577TM MicroPulse (MP) laser treatment in cases of chronic and chronic recurrent central serous chorioretinopathy (cCSR) (rCSR). The aim was to document and measure the changes in the central retinal thickness (CRT) and best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) and the integrity of the fovea in a short period of time after treatment.","PeriodicalId":89944,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Ophthalmic Pathology","volume":"2018 1","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70883395","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is commonly seen in immunocompromised patients with sinus pathology. The clinical spectrum of disease is variable which could delay in diagnosis and management of patients. Treatment includes surgical excision and systemic antifungals. Here we report a case of primary invasive orbital aspergillosis an immune-competent patient who managed successfully with surgical excision and a course of oral antifungal. The patient had not shown any recurrence in follow up period of one year.","PeriodicalId":89944,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Ophthalmic Pathology","volume":"2018 1","pages":"1-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70883114","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Various materials have been used for frontalis slings with varying results. Aim: To find an effective, easily available and, lasting frontalis sling material with minimal complications. Materials and Methods: Retrospective study in which DCR Silicone stents were used for brow suspension in cases of ptosis with poor Levator action (less than 5 mm) in the form of a single rhomboid like in FOX method with slight modification, done between 2012 to 2016. Results: Retrospectively all the records of these patients were retrieved and the surgical results studied and analyzed. Mean follow up period was 2.6 years. Good long term functional results (assessed in terms of eyelid height, skin crease depth, eyelid contour and patient satisfaction) were achieved in 33 eyelids [90%].Under correction was noticed in 3 eyelids [8%]. Re-surgery was done for these patients and all of them improved well. Lagophthalmos and mild corneal exposure were noticed in 6 eyelids which improved after the use of artificial tear eye drops and ointments. Conclusion: This method proved to be a simple, less expensive and effective method with minimal complications.","PeriodicalId":89944,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Ophthalmic Pathology","volume":"2018 1","pages":"1-3"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70883062","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Objective: To present a case of retinal dysplasia misdiagnosed clinically as retinoblastoma and underwent enucleation surgery.Result: A 7 years old female underwent enucleation surgery as she was diagnosed clinically as retinoblastoma. Both of them could present with leucocoria and histologically can show rossettes formation. In Nigeria, the national HIV sero-prevalence is 3.4%, and values in the South-South geopolitical zone where this review was performed ranges from 4.1% in Delta to 10.9% in Akwa-Ibom state. Aim: To review HIV and conjunctival tumours in patients seen at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH), Calabar Methodology: This retrospective clinic review of demographic data, clinical features, HIV sero-status and histopathologic findings in patients with conjunctival tumours seen from January 2005 to December 2014 including Ophthalmology clinic records and pathology request forms were analysed Results: A total of 32,102 new patients were seen in the ophthalmic outpatient within the study period, of which 108 patients comprising 57(52.8%) males and 42(38.0%) females had conjunctival tumours. Their ages ranged from 11-85 years, with a mean of 39 years ± 14.98. Histologically, eighty (74.1%) had Squamous cell carcinoma, ten (9.26%) Squamous intraepithelial lesion, six (5.56%) Papilloma, four (3.7%) Kaposis sarcoma, three (2.78%) Naevus and Melanoma each, one each (0.93%) had Conjunctival dysplasia and Lymphoma. The HIV status of only 55 (50.9%) could be ascertained having been documented in patients’ records of whom thirty-seven (67.3%) were HIV positive. Thirty four (>90%) of the HIV positive cases had squamous cell carcinoma. The other 3 patients had kaposis sarcoma, papilloma and conjunctival intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN). Conclusion: In Calabar, conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma is preponderant in HIV sero-positive patients when compared with the sero-negatives.","PeriodicalId":89944,"journal":{"name":"International Journal of Ophthalmic Pathology","volume":" ","pages":"1-4"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2017-11-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46207405","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
