Due to the complexity of the parasite biology and genetics, there iscurrently no vaccine. Individuals with malaria may present with fever and a wide rangeof symptoms. The second half of the 20th century saw the emergence of strains of malariaparasites (mainly P.falciparum) resistant to chloroquine, which was the most commonlyused drug for treatment of the disease. While resistance spread geographically, it alsoevolved chemically including to other antimalarial drugs like quinine, sulfadoxine,pyremethamine, and proguanil.The aim of research. To describe modern aspects of etiology and epidemiology ofmalaria, caused by different species of parasite; and to highlight clinical peculiaritieswith analysis of the best evidence based recommendations of its chemotherapy.Methods. We had used scientific paper searching in Scopus, Cochrane databases, andNCBI library (Pubmed) by key words as “malignant tertian malaria treatment”, “benigntertian malaria”, benign quartana malaria”, “malaria and pregnancy”, “resistance toantimalarials”.Results. Nowadays there are six known genetically different species of Plasmodiumcaused malaria disease in human worldwide. This vector-borne infection may transmitvia mosquito, blood products, a liver transplantation and through placenta from pregnantto fetus. If suspected any malaria type, promptly therapy should be suggest accountedtravel anamnesis and WHO as well as national recommendations. Therapy containedarthemisin in combination with lumefantrine or mefloquine is better and more effectivethan monotherapy. In case of P.ovale and P.vivax primaquine phosphate is essential topreclude recrudescences.Conclusions. Ukraine is the eastern European country with annual morbidity becauseof exotic cases connected with travels and employment. In case of fever, chills, sweats,hepatosplenomegaly patient should be tested for parasite presence by methods ofparasitoscopy of thick drop and thin smear of blood. Chemoprophylaxis within allduration in endemic country by available antimalarial should be obligatory beforeplanning to subtropical and tropical regions.","PeriodicalId":89801,"journal":{"name":"Journal of clinical & experimental pathology","volume":"37 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"90093672","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this regard, the problem of parasitic pathology often occurs in the practice of physicians, which necessitates an increase in the level of professional training of physicians. It is necessary to expand the knowledge of health professionals not only about the clinical symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of infestations, but also about the epidemiological features and life cycles of parasites that underlie the development of the methods for the prevention of parasitic diseases. The aim of the work is to analyze the peculiarities of teaching medical parasitology to the first-year students of the Higher State Educational Establishment of Ukraine “Bukovinian State Medical University” in order to improve teaching methods in the training of doctors. Conclusion. Teaching medical parasitology includes lectures, practical classes, independent work of students, conducting two final modular tests, which include computer testing, theoretical questions, practical skills. The peculiarity of the study of medical parasitology is the use of a large amount of visual material: tables, diagrams, illustrations, photographs, microslides and museum specimens.","PeriodicalId":89801,"journal":{"name":"Journal of clinical & experimental pathology","volume":"17 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87634002","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods. 215 patients, diagnosed with ALC, took part in the study, including 66 women and 149 men. 109 people had ALC with obesity and 106 people had ALC without obesity. Patients were divided into subgroups depending on the stage of decompensation according to Child-Pugh. Depending on the treatment protocol (b protocol – basic therapy, h protocol – basic therapy in combination with ademethionine and arginine glutamate), all patients were divided into subgroups. Results. In patients of groups I and II who received the h protocol, at the stage of compensation, subcompensation and decompensation, the indicators of sorption capacity of erythrocytes (SCE), leukocyte index of intoxication (LII), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα), asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) and the resistin level significantly improved (p<0.05). In patients of groups I and II, who received basic treatment, at the stage of compensation such indicators worsened, but no significant difference was observed before and after treatment (p>0.05). At the stage of subcompensation and decompensation in patients of groups I and II, who received basic treatment, SCE, LII, hs-CRP, TNFα, ADMA and the resistin level significantly worsened (p<0.05). Conclusions. Inclusion in the complex treatment of ademethionine and arginine glutamate for obese patients with ALC helps to reduce the manifestations of endogenous intoxication, immune-inflammatory reaction and endothelial dysfunction.","PeriodicalId":89801,"journal":{"name":"Journal of clinical & experimental pathology","volume":"23 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-12-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84521179","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To reveal peculiarities of the mononuclear phagocyte functional activity in patients with rapidly progressive generalized periodontitis depending upon colonization of periodontal tissue by causative agents, sensitive and resistant to drugs, on the basis of studying activated blood monocytes, phagocytic activity of mononuclear phagocytes and production of the main classes of immunoglobulins, cytokine profile state. Material and methods. The investigation was carried out on 74 patients with rapidly progressive generalized periodontitis I-II and II-III severity, aged 35 to 50 years. Complex of the laboratory studies included immunophenotypic changes in the subpopulation composition of the mononuclear blood cells (CD 3 +, CD 4 +, CD 8 +, CD 14 +, CD 16 +, CD 25 +, HLA-DR and CD 95 +), phagocytic activity of neutrophils, level of cytokine production and synthesis of sIgA, IgA, IgG and IgM in the oral fluid. Results. On the basis of the conducted complex clinical-laboratory data it has been established that a significant decrease of the functional activity of the mononuclear phagocyte system stipulates the formation of the severe secondary deficiency of the cellular and humoral immunity in patients who are carries of the resistant strains of periodontal pathogenic agents of the rapidly progressive generalized periodontitis and moderate - at colonization of the periodontal complex with causative agents sensitive to drugs. The pathogenetic dependence of the drug sensitivity upon the nature of the disorders of the systemic and local humoral immunity has been shown: at the marked immunodeficiency the development of the bacterial resistance to drugs is possible, and preservation of the drug sensitivity to the causative agents of the rapidly progressive generalized periodontitis is associated with moderate disorders of anti-infectious mechanisms of the immune response. Conclusion. The assessment of the functional activity of the mononuclear phagocyte system, based on the study of the state of immunophenotypic changes in the subpopulation composition of mononuclear blood cells, phagocytic activity of monocytes, the content of immunoglobulins and cytokines in the oral fluid, gives valuable information to clarify the mechanisms of the development of various sensitivity of the periodontal-pathogenic flora of the periodontal tissue to protocol antibacterial therapy in the patients with rapidly progressive generalized periodontitis.","PeriodicalId":89801,"journal":{"name":"Journal of clinical & experimental pathology","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"79521056","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
