The two speeches are the ones aired live on the national TV of Egypt on the 28th of January 2011 and the second one, which was given just one day before Mubarak left the presidency, was aired on the 10th February 2011. This study is one of the first studies that applied readability and simplicity formulas on Arabic texts. In accordance to three different readability and simplicity formulas the two chosen speeches of Mubarak were judged to be simple and not hard to read by the expected audience of Mubarak. It is suggested that Mubarak did not succeed in reaching his goal and his audience regardless of his attempts. The protesters besieged Mubarak’s palace and did not leave until the resignation of Mubarak was aired on TV.","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47385067","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study uses time-series data from the countries' big-five banks from 2009 to 2013. This study engages the regression model to measure the CFI's impact on CAR and then applies a Chow test to compare the discrete regression output between the two countries. The statistical tests reveal that the CFI of Indonesian banks correlated negatively with the CAR, while Malaysian banks showed a positive correlation. Consistent with the correlations, the influence of CFI on CAR in both countries is equally significant. By a Chow test, this study concluded that the CFI's impact on CAR significantly differs between the banks in the countries. From the literature perspective, the CFI and CAR relationship of Malaysian banks is closer to the findings of previous detached studies. The figures indicate that nowadays, Malaysian banking harvests cash inflow from their past investments. Otherwise, the Indonesian banks portray the ongoing spending for long-term investment during the recent five years. This preference results in a consistent decrease in CFI when the CAR moves upward. Departing from the existing differences, to optimize the CFI and CAR relationship, this study suggests the CFI and CAR equilibrium formulation for banks to avoid cash shortages and failure to earn interest due to capital buffer retaining to maintain a high ratio of capital adequacy.","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42453299","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Globally the researchers have agreed that English is used in every corner of the world among different ethnicities, cultures, and social backgrounds. Thus, the need to understand, translate and speak in English confidently has become the need of the hour for people both for English-speaking as well as non-speaking countries. However, the need to teach the same must be induced in them from childhood. Therefore, wait time which is a well-accepted concept to promote English speaking, is evaluated through this research article. \u0000 \u0000The paper aims to evaluate the effectiveness of inducing wait time for an effective translation process, process thinking, and decoding in English and boost their courage. Thus, the paper reviewed scholarly articles to understand the perspective of peered scholars. A secondary quantitative data analysis is done, and thus, a detailed discussion has been carried out to provide constructive recommendations to deal with the prevailing issue. The findings showed that the first problem is linguistics, such as grammar, vocabulary, and grammar.","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45194048","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We conducted a preliminary study into the meaning of the traditional Bhutanese saying tog-ge-teng-nang-gong; gong-ge-teng-nang-thee (Ole) and tag-ge-ta-lay-gung; gung ge-ta-lay-theb (Dzongkha). Tag in Dzongkha refers to Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris) and gung refers to clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa). The saying describes the existence of a species, which Oleps people believe is the clouded leopard, that is superior to the apex predator the tiger. The saying is further elaborated as gung-gi-ta-lay-theb (Dzongkha), which means that a skilled human hunter is superior to the clouded leopard. We used semi-structured interviews to ask 19 Oleps people to explain this traditional saying and narrate the beliefs embedded in it. Participants related the saying to their views of the clouded leopard, and we explored how these views might influence the current conservation status of clouded leopards living in the Oleps’ locality. Our interviews showed that Oleps revered and respected clouded leopards, but they also viewed them and other wild cats as harmful to livestock, and some expressed a desire to acquire clouded leopard pelts or to keep them as pets. Indigenous knowledge and beliefs are important to consider in the development of a conservation plan for clouded leopards. We recommend that Oleps’ sayings and stories be documented for posterity and that conservationists continue to engage in dialog with Oleps people to better understand the effects clouded leopards and other wild cats have on their livelihoods.","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46383737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study sample included (196) students intentionally selected from among the first-year students at Al-Isra University in Jordan. These students were divided into two identical groups: one was taken to represent the experimental group, and the other was to represent the control group. The experimental group used formative assessment methods to study the (English Language) course. The students of both groups sat for the final achievement examination. The student's results in the two groups were placed in tables and then treated statistically. It was found that the performance of the experimental group students was better than that of the control group, which indicates the effectiveness of using the formative assessment method in teaching English. In addition, a questionnaire was used with the study sample of students to monitor the attitudes of students and teachers toward the formative assessment. The advanced statistical analysis of students' responses showed their positive attitudes toward this assessment. Then the study concluded with some recommendations to strengthen this type of evaluation.","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44063168","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper aimed to explore the impact of \"three zones\" closed-off management in communities on individuals' mental health and lifestyle. Two hundred participants were recruited from Shenzhen city, where a seven-day \"three zones\" closed-off management was implemented, to complete the online survey made available through a link shared via the Wechat group. The study found that during the lockdown period, individuals’ positive mental health, unhealthy eating behaviors, physical activity, and sleep quality decreased by 8.5%, 5.4%, 22.0%, and 10.2%, respectively, while sedentary time increased by 21.7% markedly. In addition, residents living in controlled zones had poorer mental health but more physical activities than those residing in precautionary zones; residents living in lockdown zones had worse sleep quality and more sedentary time than those living in precautionary zones. These findings are essential to enrich and improve research beyond public health measures during the pandemic.","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45804158","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through in-depth interviews with two in-laws families, the article describes the gender violence suffered by three daughters-in-law (DILs) within two generations from the 1970s to the 2000s, discovering that despite the nuanced differences in the forms and frequencies of gender violence, three DILs were all at the inferior status in the stem family and were victims of family power inequality. It was revealed that the family power inequality gave rise to gender violence toward the DIL, inducing severe physical or mental injury to the DIL. However, family power inequality was rooted in the traditional gender ideology. The traditional gender ideology originated from the feudal society of China and still pervaded modern society. Consequently, the traditional gender ideology was the rooted cause of the occurrence of gender violence. The article concludes with a reminder of reflecting upon the impacts of the traditional gender ideology on our lives and promoting a new gender consciousness.","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"49514019","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study employs the Fully Modified Least Square (FM-OLS) model to evaluate the effectiveness of these policies by means of estimating employment elasticities of Kuwaitis in the private sector in response to wage subsidies. The results show that the subsidies have been ineffective, contrary to their well-documented broad positive impact in industrial economies. This outcome has been attributed generally to wage differentials between Kuwaitis and non-Kuwaitis. This study presents a holistic diagnosis of the problem by challenging the received ‘wage differentials’ as the sole cause. It identifies a host of heretofore-unidentified structural disequilibria in the labor market that are responsible for the subsidy’s ineffectiveness such as the local economy’s inherent bias towards low-tech methods of production that rely heavily on low-skilled labor, Kuwaitis’ penchant to pursue higher levels of education, low national participation rates in the labor force, the absence of critical vocational training programs, and the government’s liberal immigration policies. Based on the revised prognosis, a new integrated remedial plan of actionable steps is suggested to address the unemployment problem.","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48019139","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Entering the digital era, digital technologies are amending the farming of swiftlet and the application of the Internet of Things-IoT technology along with Artificial Intelligence-AI is expanding rapidly. IoTs and Artificial Intelligent positively support farmers in order to collect, synthesize and analyze statistics of data, to be able to self-control, adjust the behavior of the farming activities based on precisely dosed indicators to limit the potential risks due to the enemies of the swiftlet or the bad guys stealing bird's nest. This study investigated 120 producers in Phan Thiet, Ham Thuan Bac, and Bac Binh where the highest population of swiftlet activity in Binh Thuan province, Vietnam. The study applies the Willingness to Pay method in combining with the Linear Regression Model (LRS) to estimate the level of the Willingness to Pay (WTP) and its determinants for the adoption of the Internet of Things (IoTs) technology. The findings indicated that producers agreed to pay 380 million VND (nearly 30% of total investment in equipment and technology) but the level of the WTP showed a large variation: 55 million of lowest group and while more than 1200 million of the highest one. The LRS model with 12 explanatory variables allowed to explain 51% of the factors' influence on the WTP. The findings indicated that should be taken into account the multi-aspects of solutions from producers, enterprises and local government achieve sustainable development in swiftlet farming.","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48571577","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
