Su embroidery was recognized as a speciality of a specific geographical site when it was first taken as an art of style. Later both the place it was produced and the style of the products affected the evaluation of the embroidery. The technique of the Su embroidery was earlier recognized than its fame known as “Su Xiu” in Chinese. The recognition of its technique resulted from man’s esthetic need and the production of the needed instruments like thread, needle, fabric and dye. Thus the system of the techniques was formed between the middle and late period of Liangzhu Culture (28-20th century BC) and the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period (557-532 BC). The development of technology, the need of the market, and the influence of culture altogether brought out the name “Su Xiu” in the Zhengde period of the Ming Dynasty (1506-1521).","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":"20 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135461486","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Strengthening family functioning and enhancing family well-being through promoting family-oriented policies that based on evidence that demonstrates the effectiveness and practicalities of interventions are important. However, the planning and evaluation of existing programs is not universally agreed upon due to a lack of guiding evaluation framework and different cultural contexts. This study aims to identify best practices and consolidate social impacts of programs that support family well-being in the Asian Region, data was drawn on the Wofoo Asian Award for Advancing Family Well-Being Project (3A Project), initiated by the Consortium of Institutes on Family in the Asian Region (CIFA). A multimethod qualitative study was conducted, including a review of documents on the 3A Project, documents submitted by a total of forty awarded projects, and four in-depth interviews with team leaders of awarded projects. All data were analyzed in parallel and triangulated in the interpretation of findings. Informed by the logic model of program development and evaluation, this study discovered six overarching best practices ― PIE-ISI ― were identified: (i) Project rationales; (ii) Implementation; (iii) Evaluation; (iv) Innovation; (v) Sustainability and replicability; and (vi) Institutional synergy.","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":"80 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136079728","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The textile award-winning research in the National Science and Technology Award is one of the important characterizations of the progress of textile science and technology and the development of the textile industry. Through the statistical analysis of the research organizations of the textile award-winning research of the National Science and Technology Award from 1979 to 2020, it is found that enterprises have been the most dominant type in the past forty years; research institutes were the important force of textile science and technology research before 2000, but their influence gradually declined after 2000; the scientific research strength of the universities has risen and the scientific research resources are concentrated in the main universities with textile specialties; different types of research organizations have their cooperation methods, and the forty years have experienced the transformation from the intra-city to the intra-country cooperation, among which, the enterprises have the highest degree of freedom on the space of cooperation.","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":"160 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136341403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

College students are the talent reserve for various national undertakings and the future pillars of the country. If college students experience widespread psychological problems such as anxiety, it will have a negative impact on the country. Through analyzing existing data, we found that a considerable number of college students believe that an important factor causing psychological problems is family issues, with parental psychological control being the main issue. This study uses case analysis as the starting point to explore the major culprit of college students' psychological problems - anxiety, as well as the underlying family issues. The objective of the study is to investigate the family causes behind anxiety among college students, in order to better address their mental health issues. The research results indicate that strong psychological control by parents, especially in families, can easily lead to parent-child conflicts and deepen the spread of anxiety among college students.","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136341683","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The core factors were West Papuans' desire for self-determination, together with ethnic and cultural differences. However, previous self-determination efforts had been unconvincing. This article aims to explore how Pacific Island countries intervened internationally in West Papua issue and how did Indonesia's Jokowi Administration respond to international intervention. In response, the administration adopted a multi-faceted strategy. Domestically, it pursued peaceful dialogue, economic development and some force suppression. Internationally, it strengthened investment, trade and assistance to Pacific Islands while voicing criticism of foreign intervention. Although not completely resolving the issue, the administration upheld national sovereignty and expanded international ties using diverse approaches. This provides insights into managing similar territorial disputes by balancing sovereign integrity with nuanced foreign relations. While separatism was not fully calmed, Indonesia's strategy highlights the importance of collaborative policymaking to maintain national unity amid complex dynamics.","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136341554","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Our knowledge about how linguistic minorities get access to health-related information in peripheral regions remains under-explored in the existing scholarship. Given that China’s border towns are peripherally located and inhabited multilingual and multicultural populations, it is of significance to understand how linguistic minorities overcome their communication barriers in times of crisis. Adopting Emergency Language Services (ELS) (Li, Rao, Zhang, & Li, 2020) as a theoretical framework, this study makes a six-month ethnographic study with Zhuang people on how they mobilize their linguistic and cultural resources to get access to health-related information during the Covid-19 pandemic. Multiple types of data were collected from six Zhuang people of diverse backgrounds in age, gender, education and language through semi-structured interviews, participant observation, field notes and online interactions. Findings demonstrate that traditional Zhuang folk arts including Zhuang Tianqin Plucked Instrument, Zhuang Folk Songs, and Zhuang Clappers constitute important resources to facilitate indigenous Zhuang people’s understanding of public health information. The study also finds that Zhuang people have actively participated in fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic together with the local government by the revitalization of Zhuang language and cultural practices. This study can shed lights on including the indigenous linguistic and cultural resources as legitimate construct to participate in crisis communication and response to local and government policies.","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42368807","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

So, the parent must provide their children with appropriate moral behavior for real-world and daily life. This study examines the results of the MBST Program on early childhood development by parents. A quasi-experimental design was 30 children, ages 5-6, in each group while studying at a kindergarten, Thailand. The intervention group participated in the MBST Program with their parents. Data was collected using a paired t-test. The results showed that the intervention group had significantly higher mean moral scores after attending the program than before as well as higher scores compared to the comparison group (p<0.001). This study suggests that children demonstrated improved behavior using the MBST book. Consequently, organizations such as children’s groups should utilize storytelling to spread these benefits. Storytellers may not be limited to parents and can include other caregivers.","PeriodicalId":89741,"journal":{"name":"Asian social science","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43233295","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
