This research uses descriptive quantitative method using an instrument that is a questionnaire (written question) sourced from teaching staff at the Senior High School Level in the Majene Regency Area to obtain primary data. Secondary data in this study were obtained from the results of field documentation by researchers. The results showed that the improvement in communication skills of teachers is in line with the increase in the quality of student learning outcomes and has a close significance relationship between the two. In response, this article outlines the design and development of a formative assessment framework that can be implemented as a consistent whole-school approach to embedding practice that is owned and developed by teachers. The approach outlined in the framework, therefore, is designed to integrate formative assessment practices within a school system context, providing advice and support to school leaders and teachers. {"title":"Data use in New Zealand secondary schools: Tracking, traffic lights, and triage","authors":"L. This case study of selected high schools explored the perspectives of teachers and school leaders whose schools had recently implemented a student assessment tracking and monitoring “traffic light” tool. Informed by a realist approach, the study involved a series of three focus groups followed by individual interviews with 13 educators at four secondary schools that had been identified as effective at school self-evaluation. The results highlight that data use processes led to changes in practice in teachers’ work and contributed to structural changes in these schools. {"title":"“This school really teaches you to talk to your teachers”: Students’ experience of different assessment cultures in three Icelandic upper secondary schools","authors":"Í. Jónsson, Gudrun Geirsdottir","doi":"10.18296/am.0042","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.18296/am.0042","url":null,"abstract":"Assuming that the quality of assessment for learning (AfL) is, to some extent, bound by the context of the assessment culture it thrives in, it becomes important to understand students’ experiences of the cultural characteristics that are regarded as valuable for their learning. The purpose of this study is to explore and compare students’ experiences of assessment practices in schools with an overt policy of AfL implementation with those of students in schools with no AfL policy. Focus group interviews with students were conducted in three Icelandic upper secondary schools. The findings show that students value positive teacher–student relationships and active dialogue with teachers. Moreover, a “mixed” assessment culture could be seen in one school, where a culture of grading is prevalent in conjunction with a learning-oriented assessment culture. We propose that stakeholders of upper secondary schools discuss openly and review critically the interplay of assessment tools such as grades and formative feedback. We analysed 34 teacher candidates’ approaches to classroom assessment at three points in their preservice programme: (1) prior to a one-credit assessment course; (2) after their assessment course; and (3) after 10 weeks of full-time student teaching. By way of comparison to the student teachers’ assessment approaches, the assessment approaches of 23 co-operating teachers were also analysed. Results indicated that teacher candidates’ approaches to assessment did not vary at different points in their development. Co-operating teachers’ and teacher candidates’ assessment approaches were closely aligned in terms of the dominant approaches each group reported. Fajri radio terus mengembangkan ITC (information Tehnology, and communication) menjaga identitas radionya sebagai radio dakwah.Bagaimana ia tetap eksis menjadi radio dakwah tanpa program musik? Teori konstruksi sosial media massa atas realitas sosial menjawab bagaimana mengcnstruksi sebuah program melalui tiga proses yakni eksternalisasi, objektivasi, dan internalisasi untuk menyebar informasi, yang disebut current image. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan paradigma konstruktivisme. Hasil penelitian ditemukan 1) Tahap esternalisasi adalah menerapkan identitas media melalui ekspresi ide,fakta,dan referensi sebagai strategi komunikasi Framing Radio Fajri 99,3 FM Bogor, 2) Tahap objektivasi dikemas 7 program live dan 32 program tapping melalui berbagai metode dakwah dan komunikasi. Kekuatan kata dan bahasa pada program tersebutditerapkan strategi signing, dan 3) Tahap internalisasi, radio Fajri FM memodifikasi program on air maupun kegiatan off airnya berupa kajian bulanan, publikasi, dan temu pendengar Fajri. Dengan media baru jangkauan wilayah yang luas dapat dicapai. Selain itu, sifat transparansinya dalam mekanisme penyajian soal dan juga dalam keamanan naskah menjadi akibat hadirnya new media di ranah pendidikan. Tulisan ini dikaji dengan pendekatan teori New Media yang merefleksikan media evaluasi belajar siswa yang ditandai dengan penggunaan jaringan internet , Teori Determinisme Teknologi yang mengimplikaskan penggunaan teknologi sebagai faktor dominan yang berpengaruh dalam media evaluasi belajar, Teori Konstruktivisme pendidikan yang megindikasikan siswa belajar aktif dengan kehadiran new media dalam evaluasi belajar dan juga Teori Difusi Inovasi yang merepresentasikan inovasi kebijakan pemerintah yang didiseminasikan kepada sekolah-sekolah penyelenggara ujian berbasis komputer. Sehingga, dapat disimpulkan bahwa presensi new media mengubah perubahan perilaku dari satu sisi evaluasi pembelajaran. Kata Kunci : Media baru, Evaluasi Pembelajaran, Ujian Nasional Berbasis Komputer Abstract This article is intended to describe the new media for the Computer-Based National Examination (UNBK) as a vehicle for evaluating learning that aims to see the extent to which information and communication technology has penetrated the world of education. Data collection was carried out by in-depth interviews with related parties, observation and even documentation. The scientific findings obtained are that New Media gives a superior evaluation quality by displaying its properties that provide cost efficiency, materials, and test execution time. With new media a wide area coverage can be achieved. In addition, the transparency in the mechanism for presenting questions and also in safeguarding texts is the result of the presence of new media in the field of education. In the cognitive aspect, teacher assessments include oral tests, practice scores, assignments, homework (PR) and daily test scores, on the psychomotor aspect, teacher assessments include students' skills to demonstrate the value of caring for others in front of the class, on the affective aspect, teachers assess students who actively participate in class discussions. Kurangnya media pembelajaran yang dapat melatih kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi merupakan salah satu penyebab rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa. Berdasarkan latar belakang tersebut maka perlu adanya pengembangan media pembelajaran yang dapat melihat kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi.Tujuan penelitian dan pengembangan ini adalah untuk: (1) menjelaskan proses penyusunan media roda putar materi keragaman suku dan budaya berbasis HOTS siswa kelas IV di MI PSM Padangan Ngantru Kabupaten Tulungagung, (2) menjelaskan kemenarikan penggunaan media roda putar pada materi keragaman budaya di negeriku berbasis HOTS siswa kelas IV di MI PSM Padangan Ngantru Kabupaten Tulungagung, (3) menjelaskan efektifitas penggunaan media roda putar pada materi keragaman suku dan budaya berbasis HOTS untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa di MI PSM Padangan.Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development) dengan mengadaptasi model pengembangan Borg & Gall. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara, angket, dan tes. Subjek penelitian dan pengembangan ini adalah siswa kelas IV MI PSM Padangan Ngantru Tulungagung. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan oleh peneliti daplam pengembangan media roda putar materi keragaman suku dan budaya pada kelas IV siswa MI PSM Padangan menyatakan bahwa (1) media roda putar ini mendapatkan prosentase kevalidan sebesar 86% dari ahli materi, 86% dari ahli desaim media, dan 94% dari ahli pembelajaran, (2) media roda putar ini memiliki tingkat kemenarikan sebesar 87,1%, (3) hasil nilai post test yang telah dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa adanya peningkatan yang signifikan dibandingkan hasil nilai pre test , yakni dengan perbedaan rata-rata nilai sebesar 36. Hasil analisis dengan uji-t menunjukkan bahwa thitung > ttabel, artinya Ha diterima Ho ditolak. Hal ini diperoleh thitung = 3,897 dan ttabel = 1,94. Sehingga terdapat perbedaan pada siswa sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan media roda putar keragaman.
