Waitz","doi":"10.1016/S0035-2977(72)80036-1","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1016/S0035-2977(72)80036-1","url":null,"abstract":"<div><p>Au Centre de Transfusion Sanguine de Strasbourg, les recherches systématiques d'antigène Australia chez les donneurs de sang bénévoles sont effectuées par électro-immuno-diffusion.</p><p>Les réactifs proviennent de sang de donneurs. Une technique d'enrichissement en anticorps a été mise au point. Elle est fondée sur une adsorption sélective des protéines sur D.E.A.E.-cellulose.</p><p>Les réactifs sont utilisés comme immunsérums après vérification de leurs caractères de spécificité et de sensibilité vis-à-vis de 19 antigènes différents et de titre varié.</p><p>Dans le Bas-Rhin nous avons observé :</p><ul><li><span>-</span><span><p>une fréquence de 0,14 % d'antigène Australia chez les donneurs de sang — (0,16 % chez les hommes) ;</p></span></li><li><span>-</span><span><p>une fréquence de 0,07 % d'anticorps anti-Australia chez les donneurs de sang ;</p></span></li><li><span>-</span><span><p>une plus grande fréquence d'anticorps chez les femmes (0,12 %) que chez les hommes (0,04 %) ;</p></span></li><li><span>-</span><span><p>un pourcentage plus important d'antigène dans les zones urbaines (0,23 %) et dans les collectivités (0,32 %) ; chez les sujets jeunes, de moins de 30 ans (0,23 %) et originaires d'autres provinces (0,36 %).</p></span></li></ul><p>Tous ces résultats sont statistiquement significatifs.</p></div><div><p>Electroimmunodiffusion is used in the systematic research of Australia antigen in the blood donors of the Strasbourg Blood Transfusion Center.</p><p>The reagents are from the blood donors. S'inspirant du dispositif automatique préconisé par <span>Rosenfield</span>, ils ont cherché à remplacer le système polybrène-citrate de sodium employé par <span>Lalezari</span> par des systèmes lectine-ose, en utilisant la propriété de certaines phytagglutinines d'être inhibées par des sucres simples. Parmi cinq espèces productrices de lectines sensibles au galactose, <em>Ricinus communis, Coronilla varia, Sophora japonica, Cytisus albus, Genista Scoparia</em>, seules les deux premières ont une activité agglutinante totalement effacée par l'addition secondaire de l'ose. Les auteurs les ont, à titre d'essai, mises en œuvre dans un appareillage auto-analyseur, en comparant les résultats obtenus en présence et en l'absence de ces agents sensibilisateurs. Les anticorps anti D, l'agglutinine de <em>Pisum sativum</em> ont paru très nettement plus actifs avec les deux lectines retenues alors que le gain de sensibilité observé pour les anticorps anti A et anti B s'est montré beaucoup plus discret. Ces premières expériences laissent supposer que la méthode est polyvalente, et qu'elle conserve la spécificité des agglutinines mesurées. Les auteurs souhaitent qu'elle soit systématiquement appliquée pour connaître ses possibilités en vue du dépistage d'anticorps particuliers, et prévoient que des lectines sensibles à d'autres oses que le galactose pourraient être utilisées de la même façon.</p></div><div><p>The authors propose the reversible agglutination of red blood cells by some lectins for detecting with a greater sensitivity the anti red blood cell antibodies or other hemagglutinins. Thanks to a slight modification of the automatic technique described by <span>Rosenfield</span> they have tried to replace the polybrene-citrate system used by <span>Lalezari</span>, by the lectin ose system, taking advantage of the inhibition of some phytohemagglutinins by oses. Out of five species producting lectins inhibited by galactose, <em>Ricinus communis, Coronilla varia, Sophora japonica, Cytisus albus, Genista Scoparia</em>, only the first two ones have their agglutinating power abolished by an ulterior contact with the ose. The authors made trials, on auto analyzer, with and without those peculiar lectins. In the latter case the anti D antibody, and the agglutinin of <em>Pisum sativum</em> are really activated and much more than the anti A or the anti B antibody.
