Immunotherapy cannot be used alone for primary treatment of cancer, excepting perhaps as local immunotherapy for readily accessible tumors. The most important role of immunotherapy is to be found in combination with other kinds of therapy, considering that it may restrain effectively hidden micrometastases that are the cause of relapse and fatal outcome. The tumor was detected during a Bilroth I gastrectomy procedure. Mucin-secreting cells with cytoplasms often containing argentaffin and argyrophil granules was the predominant histologic pattern. Lack of neuron-specific enolase activity and their positivity for lysozyme and EMA marker indicate an origin from crypt cell and not a neural crest source. The mixed co-cultures of N-13A tumor cells and several tissue explants of newborn Wistar rats show selective adhesivity between tumoral and hepatic epithelial cells, but not with fibroblast-like cells of nervous tissue, kidney or diaphragm. In short-term co-cultures, N-13A cells in contact with rat hepatocytes prepared by the collagenase perfusion technique, display a selective adherence capacity with the production of abundant microvilli and fingerlike protrusions (microspikes) which are elaborated by the neoplastic cells. Groups of tumoral cells tightly envelop the free surface of the cultured hepatocytes. CIN III appears ten years before invasive cervical carcinoma, at a mean age of 42.8 years. Parity may be a risk factor by itself or reflect the precocity and frequency of sexual intercourse. The study confirms that most of the times the combination of vaginal cytology and colposcopy attained the diagnosis. The best therapeutical methods are conization and then total hysterectomy, depending on lesion localization, patient age and early needs. Findings and criteria of use].","authors":"M Torres Avisbal,&nbsp;J M Ruíz de Almodovar Rivera,&nbsp;J Villalba Moreno,&nbsp;N Olea Serrano,&nbsp;O Padilla Bolivar,&nbsp;V Pedraza Muriel","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>In breast cancer, under rigorous and normalized conditions, the blood levels of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and tissue polypeptide antigen (TPA) allow us: to differentiate with enough precision, in treated patients, the presence of tumour (EP) from illness-free situation (NED); to alert about the appearance of metastases and/or local relapse in patients put under systematic postoperative evolutional control; to evaluate the systemic palliative treatment response in patients with metastatic breast cancer and to formulate, in this case, prognostic predictions. Blood levels of CEA and TPA are, otherwise, unsuitable: to detect with accuracy the primary tumour presence; to warn about the risk of subclinical tumour existence (in treated patients in NED situation); to predict, in this last case, the chemotherapeutic treatment response, and to prevent about local relapses development. It has been proved that there is an alteration in the serum levels of some metals, and in their distribution in the proteins binding them. On the other hand, there exist, also, ceruloplasmin differences between patients serum and the control. Our work has been carried out to study the trace element metabolism in lung cancer, as well as chromium and zinc contents.
