Studies revealed that more than 3 lakh health workers had been infected in this outbreak with grave impact on their physical and psychological health. Nursing staff have been the pillar of healthcare system during this pandemic despite long working hours in PPE kit, fear of getting infected and staying away from near ones. The burden of mental distress revealed prevalence of depression (8.5%), anxiety (20.6%) and stress (6.3%).Hence it becomes essential to explore stress and coping among Nurses, for preparing strategic planning in future waves of Corona Virus. Following ethical clearance data was collected using perceived stress scale & COPE inventory from 50 participants selected using non-probability purposive sampling. Nurses who have worked in covid setup aged 25 years or above, and willing to participate were approached for the study. A non-experimental cross sectional descriptive research design was adopted for data collection. Results showed moderate level of stress in more than 86 percent of Nurses working in Covid set up and majority of them (86.7%) used coping strategies. The majority of the participants were in the age group 25 - 30 years (48.3%), married (75%), had no children (25%) and had family as support system. Around 38 percent had rendered 6 -10 years of service (38.3%) and had done Covid ICU duty (81.7%); 31.7 percent had worked on an average from 21 'ndash; 40 days in Covid set up and 58 percent of the participants felt that the provision of day offs was inadequate. Worldwide studies revealed that health care workers are positive for burnout, anxiety and depression which is alarming. Emotional and psychological support, incentives, appreciations and prompt identification of any psychiatric conditions may decrease the burden.","PeriodicalId":76706,"journal":{"name":"The Nursing journal of India","volume":"42 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85123408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the study was to assess the level of burden experienced by caregivers of mentally ill individuals. A descriptive cross-sectional design was adopted for the present study. A purposive sample of 184 primary caregivers were selected from RIMS Hospital, Imphal. This study was conducted using the Zarit Burden Interview Scale (ZBIS). Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data. According to ZBIS, mild burden accounted for 41.8 percent, moderate burden for 52.2 percent and severe burden accounted for 6 percent. Highest burden was seen in financial issues. Burden was found to be significantly associated with gender, religion and type of mental illness. The study concluded that caregivers experienced moderate burden as a result of taking care of mentally ill individuals.","PeriodicalId":76706,"journal":{"name":"The Nursing journal of India","volume":"93 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81524418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cardiovascular diseases have become the number one reason behind morbidity and mortality in most countries among younger adults particularly in reproductive age group. It is emerging as a major health concern in fast-developing economies like India. This study aimed to assess the knowledge regarding the prevention of risk of cardiovascular diseases among younger adults in the selected community of Kannur districts of Kerala. A cross-sectional descriptive survey research design was used to conduct this study. Simple random sampling technique was used to select the 132 samples in a selected community. A QRISK2 standardised tool was used as a basis for the development of a knowledge scale to assess the knowledge regarding the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. The results indicated that 83.3 percent of younger adults have good knowledge and 16.7 percent have average knowledge regarding the prevention of cardiovascular diseases. There was improvement in level of knowledge in the prevention of cardiovascular disease among younger adults in an advanced literate society of Kerala; their lifestyle included physical activities, diet patterns. Relevant risk factors causing risk must be studied to curb the menace of CVDs.","PeriodicalId":76706,"journal":{"name":"The Nursing journal of India","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87459743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
