Studies have shown, the use of Choukron’s platelet rich fibrin as a sole grafting material in sinus floor and immediate implant placement leading to bone formation in the peri-implant region. Purpose of the Study This study was conducted as novel research where, Direct Sinus Membrane elevation and simultaneous Implant placement without any bone graft resulted in bone formation in sub-antral space. This study compares and evaluates the bone formation with the help of Cone Beam CT Scan (CBCT) in sub-antral space following direct sinus membrane elevation and simultaneous implant placement and platelet rich fibrin as the sole graft. Materials and Methods 48 patients who fulfill the inclusion criteria were divided as Group I- direct sinus membrane elevation and implant placement without any graft and Group II- direct sinus membrane elevation and implant placement along with PRF as sole graft Results and Analysis Unpaired‘t test’ was used where, we ‘p’ value was compared with the level of significance. On comparing the peri-implant bone density in Hounsefield units, in CBCT scans; the bone density was more in group II which was statistically significant (p<0.05). Summary and Conclusions PRF has proved to be a valuable autologous augmenting material in direct sinus membrane elevation and simultaneous implant placement in edentulous posterior maxilla. Thirty periodontally healthy subjects between the age group of 21- 23 years (mean age 22 years) were enrolled in the cross sectional 4-day plaque re-growth study and were divided into two groups and assigned one mouthwash for each group. Mouthwashes were labelled as A and B. Mouthwash A was a Nutmeg mouthwash; Mouthwash B was commercially available 0.2% Chlorhexidine mouthwash. Subjects were advised to refrain from any kind of mechanical oral hygiene techniques. Plaque index (PI) was checked on day 1 and 5. After a washout period of two weeks, the mouthwashes were switched and cross-over clinical trial was again carried out and plaque scores were taken on day 1 and 5. \u0000\u0000Results\u0000Pi significantly increased from day 1 to day 5 (P < 0.01) in Groups A and B during all the trails. Study Design: A total of 1017 random digital panoramic radiographs used as a part of routine dental examination were reviewed for the presence of Carotid Artery Calcifications. The images were interpreted by trained maxillofacial radiologists for the presence or absence of carotid calcification. Results: Out of 1017 digital panoramic radiographs only 323 digital panoramic radiographs were examined for Carotid Artery Calcifications, 13 (4.02 %) were noted to have Carotid Artery Calcifications on panoramic radiographs. The 13 Carotid Artery Calcifications patients consisted of 11 males and 2 females. All Calcifications were seen in participants above 40 years of age. These calcifications on the panoramic radiograph were unilateral in 11 (84.6%) and bilateral in 2 (15.3%) individuals. Materials and Methods This clinical study was performed on 15 healthy edentulous subjects who reported to the department of Prosthodontics. All the subjects were first given complete dentures, fabricated with low fusing compound as the border moulding material, followed by complete dentures with putty as the border moulding material. Retention was measured at 3 stages: Border moulding; Complete denture insertion; 6 weeks follow up. Patient’s satisfaction was measured with a 10 point visual analogue scale for both the dentures pre treatment and at the follow up visit. Results Putty border moulding showed higher retention as compared to low fusing compound border moulding with significant difference at all stages- stage 1 (p=0.011), stage 2 (p=0.009) and stage 3 (p=0.0054). The time taken for border moulding was significantly lower in Group 2 than Group 1(P=1.6E-48). According to VAS scores, in terms of aesthetic and comfort parameters, patients were satisfied in both groups without any significant difference, however, retention in Group 2 was higher as compared to group 1(P=0.05) Summary and Conclusions There was a statistically significant difference in the retention, between the groups. Group 2( Putty) had higher retention compared to Group 1(low fusing compound).Time taken for border moulding was significantly lower for Group 2( putty). No significant difference in patient’s satisfaction was observed for aesthetic and comfort parameters. In functional parameter, retention was better in Group 2(putty) subjects. Aim: To evaluate the clinical efficacy (Gingival Index GI, Probing Pocket Depth PPD, (Relative Attachment level RAL) of Scaling Root Planing (SRP) alone versus SRP with Nisin gel as LDD in pocket reduction therapy at baseline and after 3 months. Methodology: 30 sites in patients with chronic periodontitis with 5-7mm PPD were selected after taking informed consent. It was a split mouth study. Sites were divided into Group A Test group (15 sites) treated with SRP + LDD of Nisin gel and Group B control group (15 sites) treated with SRP alone. Clinical parameters were recorded at baseline and post treatment at 3 months. Results: It was observed that there was an improvement in clinical parameters in both the groups from baseline to 3 months post treatment, with Group A Test Group showing superior results. There was statistically significant improvement in Gingival Index in Group A as compared to Group B. PPD and RAL did not show statistically significant difference in both the groups. Identification of the potential sources of stress is important in the dental education programme, as it gives opportunity to take various measures to prevent stress in the dental school environment. The aim of this study was to examine the perceived stressors in dental undergraduate students studying at a private institution in a metro city. Materials and Methods: A questionnaire based cross-sectional study was conducted among 176 third and fourth year students, interns and externs of a dental school who gave written voluntary consent. The instrument used to record stress was a pre-validated questionnaire, i.e., the modified version of the Graduate Dental Environmental Stress scale. Results were recorded on a four point Likert scale. The mean GDES30 score was calculated across the sample and also compared across categories such as gender, year of study and residence using the one way ANOVA test. The questionnaire was divided into various domains such as academic, clinical, patient, faculty, financial, insecurity regarding professional future and personal domains and the stress levels compared across the same. Results: The mean GDES30 score across the sample was 2.44(SD=0.43) corresponding to somewhat stressful on the Likert scale. Significantly higher mean GDES30 scores were seen in the domains of insecurity regarding professional future followed by clinical and patient domains. Significantly higher stress levels were seen in females compared to males and interns compared to all other years of study. Conclusion: Moderate stress levels were perceived in the clinical year dental students participating in this study.
