He reviews views on the aetiology of the cystic peri- and intra-tumoural formation. Neuroradiological findings resembling glial and metastatic tumours with cystic or necrotic changes frequently lead to an incorrect preoperative diagnosis in this potentially curable lesion. For prevention of relapses of cystic meningioma it is essential to remove not only the solid tumourous node but the entire wall of the cyst, which may be difficult from the technical aspect.</p>","PeriodicalId":75690,"journal":{"name":"Ceskoslovenska neurologie a neurochirurgie","volume":"54 3","pages":"157-9"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"12914429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the independent evaluation by the attending physician the individually outlined goal was achieved in 38% of the patients. 31% of the patients left without a special effect, however, participation in the group meant probably a certain enrichment of their life. Another 31% of the patients had a negative attitude to participation in the group. Successful patients attended much longer, had a significantly higher verbal IQ and all responded reliably in Washington's psychosocial seizure inventory--WPSI. Conversely, 27% of the other patients gave invalid responses to WPSI. Psychological procedures should be part of a wider scale of rehabilitation approaches to epilepsy, including occupational rehabilitation and club activities.</p>","PeriodicalId":75690,"journal":{"name":"Ceskoslovenska neurologie a neurochirurgie","volume":"54 3","pages":"160-5"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"12914430","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

After elaboration of the procedure of MR examination and evaluation of results the method of pattern recognition analysis was used. According to the results of 31P MR spectroscopy patients can be divided into three groups. Group A comprises patients with severe muscular lesions such as Duchenne dystrophy. The second group B is characterized by milder atrophic changes of muscle fibres. The third group comprises obscure cases. The 31P MRS method was also used for investigating the development of the disease in time--a drop of parameter PCR/Pi corresponds to a deterioration of the clinical condition of patients from group one. Maintenance of approximately the same values was observed in group B. An increase of PCR/Pi was also observed during administration of Prednisone in patients with child polymyositis.</p>","PeriodicalId":75690,"journal":{"name":"Ceskoslovenska neurologie a neurochirurgie","volume":"54 3","pages":"149-56"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"12914428","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Cervical myelograms were made in 34 patients from a lateral approach between the first and second vertebra. In a neutral position and in retroflexion the relations of the dural sac and spinal canal were investigated in 26 subjects with a normal antero-posterior diameter of the spinal canal and in eight patients with congenital stenosis of the spinal canal. Quantification by means of a computer revealed that in retroflexion the antero-posterior diameters of the dural sac diminishes significantly in subjects with a normal antero-posterior diameter of the spinal canal as well as in subjects with congenital stenosis of the spinal canal. Moreover, the authors provided evidence that the area of the dural sac diminishes significantly in retroflexion, as compared with the neutral position in subjects with a normal spinal canal as well as in subjects with congenital stenosis of the spinal canal.</p>","PeriodicalId":75690,"journal":{"name":"Ceskoslovenska neurologie a neurochirurgie","volume":"54 2","pages":"84-9"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1991-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"13200346","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
